CHAPTER SIX
It wasn't long before we approached the school gates. I walked along the wide concrete path with Armaros and Asher walking each side of me and cast my eyes to the ground as various people began to stare at us as we walked towards the main school building.
"Adria!" shouted Lexi in her usual cheerful manner.
Instead of tackling me like she usually does, Lexi just approached me at a fast walk, a broad grin spread across her face.
"Adria?" called Asher, pulling my attention away from Lexi.
I turned to face him to see a small smile tugging at his lips.
"It been a pleasure meeting you, even if you did knock me over" he laughed grabbing my hand. "I have private matters that I need to discuss with Armaros but I'm sure that this is not the last time that we will see each other," he said sincerely, kissing the top of my hand before looking up at me with a wide grin present of his face.
"Yeah... sorry about that" I smiled.
Armaros rolled his eyes and grabbed onto Asher's arm to pull him away from me.
"Come on Romeo, let's get this over with" he sighed, not letting the boys arm as he walked briskly away from where Lexi and I stood.
"Who. Was. That?" asked Lexi, as she stared at their departing figures.
"Asher, I think that he's a friend of Armaros'" I explained as I begun to walk up to buildings entrance.
"He's like totally hot, but he also seemed pretty old-fashioned, don't you think?" she questioned, stumbling quickly after me.
"I guess so" I replied, thinking back to the way he talked, especially his lack of slang.
We walked to our lockers, me in silence, Lexi talking about Scott and how awesome his party was going to be. Just as I slipped my Biology file into my bag my phone buzzed in my pocket.
Still making sure that I was listening to Lexis excitable chatter, I pulled out my phone and scanned the screen.
Dad: Your mother is taking you down to the shelter tonight to pick out a puppy, but don't worry, you'll still have time to go to that party!
I mentally sighed at my screen, fabulous, not even adopting a new dog could get me out of this party. Accepting defeat at the fact that I had to be a good friend and keep my promises, I allowed excitement to bubble up inside of me.
Me: Ok thank you, can't wait!
"Oh Lexi, I forgot to tell you" I started after I had sent my message, a smile forming at my lips.
"What?" she questioned, her eyes sparkling at my sudden excitement.
"I'm getting a puppy!" I exclaimed gleefully.
Lexi squealed loudly, making me cover my ears as she threw her arms around me and jumped up and down.
"Really?!"
"Yeah, I think that you're more excited than me if that's even possible" I laughed, grabbing her shoulders to stop her from moving.
"Do you think that my parents will let me get one too? Just imagine, we could walk them together every day, buy them matching collars, teach them tricks..." she rambled, her eyes gleaming with excitement.
"That would be amazing" I giggled, watching her walk back and forth as she began to construct the points that she would use to ask her parents.
"Miss Darion!" an angry voice bellowed from behind me.
Lexi's face dropped as she stared behind me with a sheepish look flowing over her face. I turned around to see the furious face of Mr Gilson, who I assumed was just starting to teach his other class, which was Literature.
"Do I really need to remind you that you should be in class" he hissed, slamming his classroom door behind him.
His hatred of me was really getting old.
"No" I replied plainly.
"Then what are you still standing there for? GO!" he roared, making Lexi shrink back a little.
I stayed rooted to my spot and stared at Mr Gilson's face, hatred was written all over it, but the question was why? Why did he hate me so much? Because I was late for one of his classes? I don't think so, there had to be something else bothering him.
"Adria, come on... let's go" whispered Lexi as she grabbed onto my arm.
She made me turn around just in time to see one of the other new boys that Lexi had previously been talking about walking in our direction. He stepped around me, looking down at me as he passed, his with cold, solid, smokey grey eyes locking onto mine before he averted his attention to Mr Gilson.
"Caballero" greeted Mr Gilson, his darkened mood immediately brightening.
Not wanting to push my luck by staying there any longer, Lexi and I walked swiftly down the corridor to our Biology class, to start the morning that I had hoped would drag.
To my dismay, all of my classes flew by. I sighed heavily as the shrill bell rang out around the room causing people to quickly pack all of their things. I got everything together slowly and made my way out of the school.
As I descended down the steps of the school's side entrance, I saw the boy that had approached Mr Gilson heading in my direction. I clenched my jaw and began to scan the crowd for Lexi, I didn't know why, but I had a bad feeling about that guy. It was his eyes, they looked angry, as if he hated everyone and everything.
Before he could get too close to me, Armaros appeared out of nowhere and smiled widely down at me before looking up at the advancing boy with an expression that was dark enough to burn through his soul. 'Caballero', as Mr Gilson called him, immediately backed off and walked in the other direction, pulling his hood over his head before disappearing into the crowd.
"Can I walk with you?" asked Armaros, fidgeting slightly as he awaited my reply.
I scanned the area again for Lexi but she was nowhere to be seen.
"Sure" I voiced to Armaros "I just need to make sure that Lexi isn't waiting for me" I finished as I begun to walk towards the school gates to check if she was standing near them.
"Adria?"
I turned around expecting to see Adria, but instead, saw a pair of chocolate brown eyes staring back at me.
"Oh, hi Hailey" I greeted.
Hayleigh was one of the girls in my Biology class, she had dark skin and shiny black hair that fell just below her shoulders in loose curls. I had never really talked to her much because I was always sitting by Lexi, but she had always been nice to me.
"Lexi asked me to tell you that her phone had died and not to wait for her because she had to leave early" she explained, taking a sideways glance at Armaros, who was standing quietly next to me, before returning her attention to me.
"Ok, thanks for letting me know" I smiled.
"No problem, are you going to that party later?" Questioned Hailey before I had the chance to walk away.
"Who's party?" asked Armaros, suddenly interested in our conversation.
"Yeah, and Scott's" I responded to both of them.
"Do you think that you can get me and Ivy in?" she asked hopefully.
"Of course, Lexi and I are meeting outside the mansion at eight, meet us there?"
"Thank you!" she replied, giving me a quick hug before running off, probably to find Ivy.
"I didn't take you for the social party loving type," said Armaros plainly as we walked through the gates.
"I'm not usually, but I told Lexi that I'd go" I sighed, making my way towards the forest. "where's Asher anyway?" I asked trying to change the subject.
"He's not going to our school" he responded. "he's just visiting me"
"I heard him talking about an academy, what was that all about? I don't think that there is one near here is there?" I continued, remembering their weird conversation earlier today.
"No, it's a private school" he replied carefully "Anyway, there's something that I need to ask of you"
"What is it?"
"Remember the boy that was approaching you outside the school?" He questioned.
Not knowing where he was going with this I nodded my head and waited for him to continue.
"Well I know that I have no right to be telling you what to do, but I really think that you should try to stay away from him," he said, his usual hardened tone softening slightly.
"Why?" I questioned in curiosity.
"Because he's dangerous," he said, his hands tightening into fists as he was recalling a distant memory "I cant tell you much, but just know that last time he showed a lot of people got hurt" he continued, looking down at me with pleading eyes.
"Okay, I guess I can try to stay away from him" I concluded, causing him to let out a large sigh of relief "but I can't promise that he's going to do the same" I added.
Armaros nodded his head before regaining his emotionless facial expression and returning his attention to the path ahead of us. I looked around the woods that used to bring me comfort with a new fear.
'He's dangerous' Armaros' words echoed through my mind as Caballero's cold stare flashed through my memory making me shudder.
"What's his name anyway?" I questioned, making Armaros stop in his tracks "It cant be Caballero" I finished, knowing that Mr Gilson rarely called anyone by their first names.
"No, that's his surname," replied Armaros in what seemed to be disgust "his name is Azazel."
***Thanks for reading :)
Sorry that this chapter wasn't very exciting, it's more of a filler one to bring the story along. Although I do hope that you enjoyed it anyway.
I am in need of a few names for my characters. I know that a few people gave me some for this book in the comments of Angel Academy but I can't seem to find them so sorry about that.
If anyone can help me out just drop some names in the comments 😊
But until next,
Happy reading :D***
