"hey you, you ready to go?" jun shut the front door to his house after informing his parents that he was going to go out for the night with joshua yet again. the purple haired teenager nodded at his boyfriend before running to his side and giving the older student a small hug to greet him. being the taller one, jun engulfed joshua in his arms causing for the older male to slightly chuckle with a pained groan in response. "I don't get how it's this cold, it's nearly spring and I'm still shivering. please spring come way sooner, you're killing me here."

"I doubt you're really cold under all of those layers jun." joshua scoffed at his boyfriend's horrible acting skills. it wasn't too cold and jun was wearing like three layers of outerwear this time, since his mother refused to let him out of the house otherwise. however, jun was eyeing the red beanie on joshua's head which was the same beanie the brunet had lent him the last time it was freezing cold. that happened to also be the same time they first kissed, which was a fond memory for both teenagers.

jun looked at the brunet with wide, eager eyes that awaited joshua's response. the purple haired male glanced upwards to stare at his boyfriend's red beanie before panning down to where joshua stared at him with astonishment. within a single exhale, joshua took off his beanie and leaned over so that he could promptly place it on the latter's head."you're a real troublemaker, you know that right?" when jun nodded, joshua sighed and began to walk off in front of the energetic male causing for jun to skip his way next to his boyfriend to catch up,"we have to get going now though, the guys are waiting for us."

the couple strolled casually despite being late, mostly because jun spent every minute of their walk pointing out weird store names and making puns out of them. somewhere along the way joshua joined in on the weird pun making so even if he wanted to he couldn't complain about how jun was only prolonging their arrival at the end of winter festival they had planned on meeting their friends at. they had all agreed to meet right at three in the afternoon, when it wasn't too dark nor too bright outside. however, the couple was now fifteen minutes past the agreed time and the expression on wonwoo's face when they spotted him reflected that perfecty.

"oh it looks like we aren't that late. I mean seokmin and mingyu aren't even here yet!" jun spoke positively as he nudged his boyfriend in the chest with his left elbow. with a small grunt joshua nodded his head to agree with jun even though chances were he was probably wrong. something he learned from being around jun for so long was to just go with the flow sometimes.

"no you both are." wonwoo grumbled as he furrowed his eyes at the happy couple. the tips of his ears were brushed with a light pink colors and his cheeks were pale from how cold he was. unlike jun, the raven haired teenager didn't wear too many layers and as a result his body suffered from it. luckily chan arrived by wonwoo's side with a small heat pack for the older high school senior to use to warm himself up. he slowly ranted to chan as he eyed the couple in front of them with conviction in his glare. "what's the point of even agreeing to meet up at a certain time if nobody is going to abide by it!?"

"he's a little upset." chan spoke kindly to the pair before standing on his toes to reach and pat wonwoo on the head to calm the older male down. wonwoo never really held any grudges when he was angry, fortunately, but he did require a little care when he was mad. the raven haired teenager continued to grumble to chan about how the others would get an earful from him by the time they arrived. all chan could do was smile sweetly and hear wonwoo out while picturing the mental image of the ravenette chewing out both mingyu and seokmin for their late arrival. the young brunet praised himself for thinking to come a few minutes earlier, otherwise he'd be the one getting a scolding from wonwoo as well.

"a little upset... he looks like he's about ready to tear off someone's head. protect me josh." jun mumbled to joshua as he leaned his head on joshua's shoulder in a small back hug. the purple haired male whined into his boyfriend's neck when wonwoo caught him in an angry side-glare that jun was sure took about 6.7 years off of his life. "my head's too precious to be ripped off viciously by an angry wonwoo. well, at least not this early on into my life."

"you're not going to get decapitated junhui, stop overreacting." the brunet spoke sternly while pushing jun gently off of his shoulder. it was by then that mingyu and seokmin found their way to where the friend group stood, only to be startled by wonwoo who began to just go off on the pair of juniors (chan stood behind wonwoo while smirking manically the whole time like the angel he is). both jun and joshua were in their own world though and paid no attention to their friends at all as they communicated. "besides, do you really think I'll let anything happen to you while I'm around?"

"with that attitude I guess not." jun squawked confidently, even if he was flustered by joshua's sudden spark of kind dialogue. the brunet usually did express his affection for jun like this; he tended to start off sounding harsh while being stoic, and yet the words that came out of his mouth never really matched his face. "who knew you were built to be my knight in shining armor? oh boy am I lucky to be your boyfriend!"

"you're pushing it there with the sarcasm junhui." the pair looked beside them to find that their four friends, with seokmin playing the fourth wheel, had gone off to a nearby barbeque stall to check out some of their menu items. they didn't really mind though since they were pretty content with just being with one another. "and yes I'm still calling you junhui, it's your name."

"you know me too well." the purple haired male huffed as he crossed his arms at his boyfriend. honestly speaking though, jun liked joshua's usage of his birth name way more than he was letting on. he felt like it was special that only joshua used it to address him whereas everyone else only called him jun. little things like that often made jun happy; another example being how joshua had always lent his beanie to jun whenever he noticed the purple haired teenager succumbing to the harsh weather conditions of winter. jun was saddened by the idea that it would soon be spring, and then summer. he wasn't going to have a proper excuse for stealing his boyfriend's beanies anymore (although being his boyfriend was an excuse enough). "just like how I know you've had your eye on that ice cream stand since we've gotten here. your sweet tooth never fails you josh."

"so can we?" joshua opened his eyes eagerly, not surprised at all by how jun picked up his occasional glances to the bright stall. jun was very observant in the way that he expertly read the body language of his peers. jun always noticed when wonwoo was upset just by looked at the ravenette, so it was a piece of cake for jun to notice that joshua was craving ice cream.

"did you even have to ask?" jun asked loudly, making joshua shake his head and follow as jun led them towards the stall. it seemed that the purple haired teenager wanted to take charge today by the way he boldly stepped up to order for them. "one strawberry and one rocky road please. thank you very much!"

"if I was a very sentimental person I'd be touched by you remembering my favorite flavor." joshua spoke while accepting the strawberry ice cream filled cup. they both shifted over to tall table near the stall. there were no chairs set up at the rather tall tabke though, so the pair had to resort to just setting their cups of ice cream down and standing while consuming them. joshua peeked upwards at his boyfriend to find that jun was already snacking on his. "but I'm not."

"sure you aren't josh, sure." the chinese male hummed as he took a spoonful of rocky road ice cream into his mouth. something about eating cold ice cream on an almost equally as cold afternoon made the experience ten times better.

after a few scoops though, jun decided he wanted to share some of his ice cream with joshua. rocky road just tasted way too good to not share, so while picking up another spoonful of the frozen treat, jun thought to offer it to his boyfriend. "you want to try some?"

the brunet leaned over to accept the spoonful that jun was offering him but let out a small protest when jun shifted the spoon backwards. he tried again to grab the spoon with his mouth, and yet again jun moved the spoon so that it was out of joshua's reach. it took a few more tries for the usually patient joshua to get frustrated with his boyfriend. this all occured while jun grinned at joshua with a very satisfied expression plastered across his face.

"jun come on! stop messing around with me!" the brunet furrowed his eyebrows. it came to the point where he grabbed jun's wrist and held it steady while trying to accept the spoonful of rocky road ice cream into his mouth. however, jun still managed to move his hand so that the ice cream never reached into joshua's open mouth. "junhui! you're so infuriating sometimes, seriously!"

"you just make it so easy, it's not my fault! you look so cute when I tease you like this, I can't help myself!" jun laughed. even though joshua was mad at jun for teasing him innsuch a way, he couldn't help but smile at how happy his misfortune caused jun to be. as long as jun was happy, joshua was happy. that didn't mean that the brunet wasn't still peeved about how the purple haired male had teased him so openly. one glance at the chinese senior's chocolate covered lips though had joshua plotting something that was way more clever than what jun had whipped up.

"fine, have it your way. I'll just have to figure out another way to try the ice cream." joshua shrugged as he spoke in a very unambiguous manner, making jun cease his laughter to raise an eyebrow at his boyfriend out of pure curiosity.

"what do you mean another way-"

jun was interrupted by joshua abruptly kissing his lips. the chocolate ice cream on jun's lips tranferred onto joshua's as their lips met and collided as one. although he was caught off-guard, jun dove right into the kiss as if they had planned on just flirting and canoodling in front of the ice cream stall. the man running the stall sighed, envious of the couple's energy and overall confidence with one another before turning to serve his next set of customers. meanwhile joshua pulled away from jun, licking his lips triumphantly to celebrate his win. "tastes sweet, but I'm not sure if it's the ice cream or just you."

"why don't you try again then?"

"hey jia! isn't that your brother and his boyfriend?" pointed out chaeyoung as she gestured to the couple by the ice cream stand. jia squinted at the happy pair carelessly flirting in front of the stall then paused when she realized that it was indeed her older brother. chaeyoung laughed when jia quickly turned away while covering her eyes. since they were previously walking hand in hand prior to seeing the couple flirting, chaeyoung found herself being dragged by a retreating jia suffering from secondhand embarrassment.

"no no, I don't know either of those people chae. now let's go before they recognize us."

aaaa so I can explain the lack in frequent updates 🙈 I've been working on a bunch of school projects and figuring out what college I want to go to (since that's so fun) and I've been using my spare time to work on that seokhan fic I love to tease about so much (I'm still surprised I have enough willpower to follow through with it tbh)!

speaking of teasing, I wonder if anyone can tell what I'm planning by the first two chapters names alone 🤔
