And that's how it all started...one lie was an unfolding mechanism that lead to nothing but destruction.
Laurence was told of my issue and spent most the day with me, hardly bringing it up within our conversations due to its vivid imagery.
He'd even suggested hanging out after school and gave me some money to buy some snacks while he rushed home to clean the place.
As I scanned the shelves I had no idea what to get us...what did he like?!
"Hm..."
I decided to ring him up.
"Hey love"
He started
I smiled at the focus on the word before beginning to speak
"Hey...what type of snacks do you want?"
I asked politely
"Uhm, anything you want"
He chuckled while i sighed
"Yeah but...I don't know if you'd like them"
I stammered
He huffed humbly before replying
"Alright...what do you like?"
He questioned as I viewed the display.
"Uhm...maltesers, Freddos...haribos--jeez, I'm so unhealthy"
I giggled while he laughed.
"Hey, you and me both"
He spoke as I smiled
"So, am I getting them?"
"Yep! See you at my place...I love you"
I went silent at what he said, the growing blush on my cheeks making me giggle softly.
"C'mon, you know you love me back--"
He wooed
"--Say it, say it, say it"
I sighed at his nattering and finally replied
"Alright, alright...fine, I love you too"
He cheered on the other end of the line.
"Right, cya"
I beckoned goodbye as he did the same, my hand extending to pull away a box of maltesers away from the shelf.
As I did remove the red box a set of pink ears took its place on the opposite side of the shelf.
I tilted my head.
They twitched before rising to reveal a set of timid eyes.
"... Kawaii~Chan?"
I questioned
She giggled nervously.
"Not just kawaii~Chan, Aphmau~Senpia too!"
She added as Aphmau joined her to look through the slot
"Hmmmmh"
She grinned
"Who was you on the phone to eh? Who do you loooove?~"
She spoke, my face going a bright red.
"Wh-no one!"
I panicked
They snickered in amusement before I shoved the box in their face and made a swift run for it.
I must have made it to the end of the isle when Kawaii~Chan pounced from the corner, hugging around my neck as she let her feet dangle.
"Ack!?"
It dragged me to a stop.
Aphmau laughed mischievously as her feline purred.
"Well? Who ya loving?~"
She giggled, coming to me
"No one"
"Don't try and fool me, I know what I heard"
Her eyes glared deeply into my eyes, scanning for any signs of lust or romance.
She found a microscopic amount and that was what sent her haywire, leaping up and down with Kawaii~Chan and giggling as if in need of a straightjacket.
I stood there, half edging to the door yet half wanting to hear what they had to say.
I wish I choose to turn away.
"Can we help!?"
They giggled as I chuckled nervously
"Uhm...no thanks, I'm good"
I stated, walking away rather quickly as to avoid further questioning.
However, they followed behind me, hot on my trail.
"Please!
Please!
Please!"
They both whined, my eyes narrowing as I selected the chosen treats and made my way to the cashier.
They were nothing but two fangirling teens just waiting to get the latest gossip...like hell I was going to chance them disturbing my peace.
"Guys please...stop"
I pleaded, collecting my stuff before looking to them.
They had the sweetest looks in their eyes...I couldn't bring myself to yell.
I sighed.
"I'm going round Laurence's alright, I don't want you two following me"
I huffed before turning away, grumbles.
"So that's the man eh?~"
I jolted, pausing.
That indicated to them as a "yes".
They squealed loudly as I swiftly began walking away, tensing up at their rising suspicion.
However they followed, my fear coming to a shivering boil as I turned round and gripped Aphmau's cheeks rather suddenly.
"If you say one more damn word I swear to Irene I will have a mental breakdown...you don't want that right?"
She nodded, her lips perched out at me.
"So muzzle it"
I snapped before turning away.
They remained still and silent as I made my way down the road to Laurence's home, a bag of precious sweets within my grasp.
I told Zane to tell dad that I'd be home late...though I highly doubt he'd be happy about it.
Eh... Laurence is worth it.
At least I think he is.
