JAMES RAMIREZ WAS voted most likely to succeed, she was valedictorian and had gotten a scholarship to study a Bachelor of Criminology & Criminal Justice in her senior year of high school. At only seventeen James packed up her bags and moved across the country to Virginia. When James finished her degree, she got a job as a police officer. She loved her job, helping people, putting bad guys away. After a year of working as a police officer in DC, she got world crushing news. Her parents, who she had never been close to, passed away and her younger siblings were going to be put in foster care unless she was able to become their guardian. Suddenly James was bombarded with three children and a guilt which made her move back to her home in Miami. Only twenty two and her life plan had already been disrupted, she continued to work as a police officer in Miami but it wasn't the same, she wanted to become a fbi agent and working close to Quantico was how she had intended to do so.

James continued her work and when she was twenty eight, a serial killer starts killing men. James has a hunch but she wasn't listened to until the FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit profilers confirm her suspicions.

James comes to an uncomfortable realisation when she meets Dr Spencer Reid, that for once in her life, James Mariposa Ramirez, is no longer the smartest person in the room.
