taehyung was now back at work the next day, he was feeling a lot better he does get quite severe headache's but jin gave him medication to take whenever he felt dizzy for his head felt sore.

taehyung was in a meeting room with every officer in the building.

"we would like to apologies for what happened to officer taehyung yesterday, we are still trying to figure out who had done it. if there is anyway you could look at security footage and spot the male out?" sir asked taehyung who nods

feeling way to shy to speak out.

"you all know your jobs for today, meeting dismissed" sir says as everyone gets up and leaves.

a officer leads taehyung to the security room, taehyung walks in and sits on the chair. the officer opens a few clips playing a recording from yesterday.

jungkook walks in and see's taehyung looking at the screen, the clip flips onto when taehyung walked into the bathroom looking around.

they had camera's in the bathroom for this reason, the people still had privacy but the camera's were placed out in the open.

they watched a man walk in from behind taehyung throwing him against the wall. jungkook's fist curled as he watched the inmate hurt taehyung.

taehyung was watching with teary eyes as his hands starts shaking.

jungkook notices.

"give us some privacy" jungkook says as the officer nods walking out. jungkook pauses the recording, sits down on a chair and spins taehyung's chair to face him.

"I-I" taehyung tries to speak but no words could come out.

jungkook pulls taehyung towards him, lifting him up and placing him in his lap. taehyung lays his head agaisnt jungkook's chest letting out a few sobs.

"let it out, you're safe with me" jungkook adds as he creases taehyung's back trying to calm him down.

"I d-dont even know why I am crying, I just feel a bit embarrassed like it has not even been a day and I have failed" taehyung said- letting out his thoughts to the male who was trying to calm him down.

"that is a completely normal reaction, no one is ever perfect at their job. it is normal to have doubts on what your doing, if it is right or wrong. did you make the right decision"

"either if your a nurse, teacher, butcher, accountant it really does not matter- as long as that passion is there and your ready to keep pushing forward then your ready. dont give up taehyung" brushing his fingers through the brunettes hair. 

jungkook did not know or understand why he felt so connected to taehyung, he didn't believe in love and he has only known taehyung for not even 3 weeks. but he had a strong urge to protect taehyung.

"thank you jungkook, i really appreciate it" taehyung replied, slowly pulling away as he wipes his tears.

is it wrong to feel this way?

Jungkook ignored his thoughts. "tae I am going to pull up pictures of groups of inmates point to the one you recognize from yesterday" jungkook says

taehyung's eyes immediately land on the man as let out a shaky breath and looked at jungkook.

"tae?" 

"n-number 4" taehyung mumbles.

 writing down the inmates name, turning the computer back to the security cam.

"well done, you're okay- we will deal with him" jungkook says rubbing taehyung's back who nods.

jungkook's intercom went off as they were both sitting down.

"this is a 20 emergency, call made by a distress young girl who found her mother dead inside her house. address is **** ********* Chief Jeon this is for you and your team, over" the officer says as jungkook grabs the intercom.

"copy, over" jungkook says as he feels taehyung stand up

"ready for your first lesson as detective" jungkook asks handing him a badge as taehyung nods smiling.

jungkook and taehyung both rush out to see officers lined up waiting for jungkook.

"okay team, I need three officers to come with me and we need to start a new case file" jungkook says as all the officers nod

"you, you and you follow me" jungkook says pointing to three officers who follow jungkook outside.

taehyung rushes outside trying to catch up with jungkook.

"the address should already be on the navigations, see you there" jungkook says as he walks to his car.

taehyung stands there not knowing what to do.

"come on tae" jungkook calls out from the car as taehyung nods running to the other side of the police car hopping in.

jungkook starts the car driving out of the department and once he was on the road turned his sirens on.

"is there any rules I should know before going there?" taehyung asks

"let me do the talking, if you're curious about something then ask them, dont touch evidence, if there is something dangerous yell out my name" jungkook says to taehyung who nods understanding

"it is also best you gather up all the information you can get as you will be talking with an officer and a detective about the case and what you have found, it is your first time as a detective and I want you to take charge but just know if your second guessing about something I will be there to guide you" jungkook says

taehyung smiles nodding, they pull into the large driveway to see officers already there with yellow tape by the gate.

jungkook turned his sirens off and parked his car. they both hopped out of the car and walked towards the other officers.

"Chief Jeon" the officer says shaking his hand

"we have a little girl over there who had walked in on her mum dead inside the house, she called 911 and we haven't gone in yet as our department wanted to wait for you guys" the officer says

jungkook turns around to see his three officers hop out of a car.

"so we have 3 of your men and I have 4 of mine" jungkook states

"my men will be picking up evidence" jungkook says

"okay men watch guard" the other officer says as they step up the steps to walk into the house.

they walked into the lounge to see the women's body laying on the floor on her back completely cold.

taehyung felt hurt seeing someone dead in their own home, which is meant to be peoples safe space.

but he knew this is the stuff he would have to deal with so he shook off the sad thoughts.

jungkook walked closer towards the body to see where the injury was.

a specialized officer had just walked through the door, jungkook looked up and raised his hand signaling the girl to come over.

she was wearing a white coat and had a clip board in her hand.

"jessi thank you for coming, looks like we have what looks to be a suicide as the gun is in her hand and there is blood on the floor around this area of her head" jungkook states as jessi nods and starts looking at the injuries

"officer we need pictures of the crime scene and the rest of us will look around" jungkook says as everyone walks around.

taehyung was going to follow jungkook but he decided to go on his own path and look around the house.

everyone was wearing gloves as they walked around the house opening doors.

taehyung had grabbed a few small plastic bags to put evidence into if he found anything.

he opened a door to be met with a quite clean bathroom.

he looked through the cabinets not finding anything. he looked around the sink to see a glass shard with blood on it. taehyung looked towards the mirror to see glass missing.

taehyung new that there was a high possibility that the blood on the piece of glass could be the victims but it was worth a shot anyways.

taehyung but it into one of the plastic bags and left the bathroom, he walked into another room to see it was a bedroom with a huge bed. taehyung looked around the room to see a note on the bedside table.

taehyung picked it up and read it, it did seem to be a suicide note.

he turned his head when he heard someone walk in

"you found something?" jungkook asks as he walks behind taehyung looking at the note.

"suicide note" jungkook mumbles as taehyung hums handing it to jungkook who continues to read it.

once he handed the letter to jungkook he started to look around the room, he went to the other side of the bed to see clothes everywhere and a suit case.

an office walked in and taehyung pointed to the clothes, "can you take a picture of this please" taehyung asks which catches jungkook's attention as he walks over to where they both were.

taehyung looked towards the closet to see blood dripping out of the sides.

taehyung stilled as he tapped jungkook's shoulder who looked at where he was pointing

jungkook grabbed his gun aiming it towards the closet, pulling taehyung behind him.

jungkook threw open the closest door to see nothing but towels that had blood on them.

taehyung sighs in relief worried there was going to be another dead body.

"get these packed up into bags so we can get them tested" jungkook says to the officer who just walked in

they both left the room walking towards the lounge to see jessi putting a white sheet over the victim.

"it could have been murder or suicide at this point, the only way that you guys will be able to tell is by evidence" jessi says to jungkook who nods thanking her

taehyung walks away from the two going outside to see the little girl on the steps. taehyung walked up to her and sat down on the lower stairs so he could face her.

"hi whats your name?" taehyung asked smiling

"amber" she says

"last name?"

"roseabll" amber replies

"hi amber I am taehyung but you can call me tae if you want" taehyung says

"how old are you" he asks

"7" she says

"can you tell me what happened to your mum?" taehyung had asked as she shyly nodded.

"we were getting ready for school mum was making herself a coffee and I went to hop in the car while I waited for her. I saw my older brother leave for school and I laid down on the backseat watching a movie on mums phone" she says looking down.

"after I had finished the movie, I heard a bang but I thought it was just the end of my movie. I checked the time to see it was already past 9am and school started already. I left mums phone in the car and walked outside towards the steps by the door"

"I walked inside to see her laying on the ground with blood everywhere and that is when I cried and ran to the car and called the police" she says as tears run down her face.

"were you close with your mum" taehyung asks writing down notes

"not really, she didnt like me much. she was my step mum" she says

"where is your dad?" taehyung says

"he died last year" she says

"oh im so sorry" taehyung says as she shakes her head

"it is okay they never treated me the best"

"what did they treat you like" the trainee asks as she pulls up her shirt reveling bruises

"they hurt you" taehyung said, amber nods and pulls down her top.

"my nana has been trying to take custody of me so I can live with her" amber says

"what about your brother" taehyung asks

"he hurts me, and it quite violent" amber explains looking up at the officer who is now writing notes

taehyung nods looking back at her "I know this may be a tuff question to ask but-"

"I think someone killed her cause when I heard the bang I also heard 20 seconds later foot steps running past the car, but I thought it was mum" amber says

"are you sad that she is gone?" taehyung asks

"a little, she was still human. but I feel a lot safer now" amber mumbles

"what was your brother and mums relationship?" taehyung asks

"he just got back from camp the other day but didn't make it so he was mad and him and mum always use to argue it s-scared me" amber says as tears shine through her eyes.

"oh bub, let me make a phone call to your nana okay?" taehyung says as she nods.

taehyung walks back up the stairs to see jungkook looking around, jungkook turns his attention to taehyung.

"find out anything?" jungkook asked

"a lot, this is what the victims daughter amber had told me, I just need to make a phone call to her nana" taehyung says handing jungkook the note book

"she did not seem really sad that she saw a dead body that was her mother?" an officer said walking up to them. 

"when children are put in a situation they are actually really observant, no matter the age. you would be surprised how intelligent some children are." taehyung replied. 

"use my phone and call the office desk and work they will be able to find the number" jungkook says handing him his work phone.

taehyung clicks onto the work contact and waits for someone to pick up.

"chief jeon, how may I help you?" a lady says over the phone

"hi im actually chief jeon's trainee officer and I need to get a phone number by chance" taehyung says walking back and forward.

"that is fine, we will just need your police ID name and we can get that sorted for you"

"kim taehyung"

"awesome"

"me and my team will try find the number and send it through" she says

"thank you so much!" taehyung replies as they both hang up.

jungkook walks over to him "this is good information tae" jungkook says as taehyung smiles

"thank you" he says shyly as jungkook looks at him and smiles.

jungkook's work phone buzzed as taehyung flipped the phone to see a message

"the number is 88***99** 732**** ***, her name is dorathy"

jungkook walked away as he got called over by an officer.

taehyung went to an empty room shutting the door as he dialled the number.

"hello?"

"hi is this dorathy? amber's nana?" taehyung asks

"yes this is she, who is this?"

"hi my name is kim taehyung from the police department, this morning we got a call for your grandaughter-" taehyung says but gets cut off

"oh my god! is she okay?" dorathy says

"yes amber is fine, she called us this morning about finding her step mother in the lounge dead" taehyung says

"oh no!, is amber still there?" dorathy asked

"yes, I was hopping you will be able to meet us at the police station so we can talk to you" taehyung asks

"that is comepelety okay, will you bring amber with you?" the nana says

"yes of course" taehyung replies

"leaving now" she says hanging up.

taehyung walks out of the room to see officers taking the body away and the officers walking out the door.

"we going now?" taehyung asked jungkook who nods

"we are having another team down here to get other evidence. what did the nana say?" jungkook asked crossing his arms around his chest.

"she will be meeting us down at the station so we can talk to her and we will be taking amber with us" taehyung said as jungkook nods

taehyung walks towards amber who stood up

"is nana coming?" she asks wiping her tears

"yes bub, but we will be taking you to the police station.. you arent IN trouble at all that is just the place your nana will be picking you up" taehyung says as she nods following taehyung to the car.

they both hop in waiting for jungkook who was now talking to the evidence team that had just arrived.

once he was done he rushed to the car and they drove off to the police station.

jungkook parked his car and they all walked out and into the police station building.

"oh amber" taehyung heard as he see's amber run up to a elderly women and hugged her.

"hi dorathy im kim taehyung we spoke on the phone" taehyung says as dorathy looks up at him and nods

"follow me and we will go into a meeting room" taehyung says as he walks down the hallway jungkook following

"please take a seat" taehyung says as she does so.

"where you the mother of the victim?" taehyung asks as him and jungkook both sit down.

"no, I am the mother of her dad who passed" she replies

"were you close to your son" jungkook asked

"before he had kids yes but after he grew cold as he was quite mentally sick"

"amber had said that she stays at your most nights cause her step mum hurts her?" taehyung questions

"yes charline was always quite violent and so was her son, I made sure amber stayed at mine most of the time" dorathy says looking at amber who was looking around the room

"my team has contacted the son and he should be here soon" jungkook says

"what is your relationship with the son of the step mum" taehyung asked

"he doesnt like me and I dont like him he hurts amber all the time and I am not putting up with it, I would like to request to take full custody" she says as taehyung nods

"before you leave you just have to write your details so the legal team can contact you" taehyung says

"do we need to send a truck to get ambers things?" jungkook asked the nana who shakes her head

"all of her stuff is at mine" the nana says

"it was nice meeting you" taehyung says as they all shake hands and say goodbye.

"what are you thinking" jungkook asked taehyung

"I dont think this is a suicide" taehyung says staring at jungkook who nods agreeing.
