Journal entry 7

I can't sleep tonight. It's Thursday and everything is such a blur. I was too worried about how I should be on this date. What should I wear? Ugh it's 2 in the morning and I'm still feeling wide awake, like I should be doing something right now. Well, I guess I'm going to try and sleep. Hopefully tomorrow turns out great.

I woke up that morning feeling tired and sloppy. I brushed my chestnut hair out of my face. It was poking out in all directions and I didn't even know where to start combing it. Even though I took a shower last night, I decided to take one again for this occasion.

My vision was all blurry from the lack of sleep. I wobbled into the shower slowly, and turned on the hot water. I stood there in the refreshing hot water for a couple minutes. Once I got out, I decided to choose my outfit.

I opened up my closet and looked at my choices. Wow I have no clothes. I thought. Even though I had an overflowing closet full of clothes, I still felt like there was nothing to wear. Should I wear something casual or fancy?

Finally, I had an moment of awe. I pictured to perfect outfit. I grabbed a pink and white dress and a button up shirt. I tried it on and looked in my full body mirror. Perfect! Casual and fancy in one outfit.

I went downstairs and grabbed some breakfast. Luckily, my parents weren't around. My mom had a conference and my dad was visiting a friend. I checked the time and noticed it was already noon.

I hurried up and finished my breakfast and then I went to get ready. I rushed through everything and I was finally ready by 12:30. That was the time Jake was going to come over to my house.

As I walked down the stairs I heard a knock at the door. I ran up to the nearest mirror and fixed my hair. I walked quickly up to the door and answered. I saw his charming face staring down at me.

I smiled and said, "Shall we be on our way?" He didn't say anything for a little bit. I just stood there kind of awkwardly and decided to move. I walked to the side of him and he followed. "You haven't said one thing yet." I said.

I turned to look at him and he shakes his head, "I'm sorry. It's just, you're so beautiful." I blushed and turned away. It wasn't until then that I noticed his outfit. He was wearing a blue button up shirt and some jeans. He looked good.

"So... Where are we going?" I asked.

He smiled amused and said, "It's a surprise." I sighed and let him take over. We walked for awhile in silence. We finally got to a picket fence with a hole in it. He looked at me and said, "In we go!"

I looked at the fence and then I looked back at him surprised. "I thought this was a date, not an adventure."

"Everything is an adventure, Catherine." I didn't have any opposing argument so I just followed him through the small crack in the fence. It was a tight fit, but I made it through.

Once I got through, I gasped. What was in front of me was magnificent. There was a huge meadow win wild flowers and tall grass everywhere. I was speechless by the view. Jake seemed to be waiting for a reaction from me.

"It's amazing!" I yelled. I skipped through the meadow, thinking it would feel amazing because that's what they do in the movies. But my dress wasn't cooperating so I just flopped to the ground.

I looked behind me and saw Jake trying to catch up with me. Once he reaches me, he exaggerated heavy breathing and I just laughed at him. He flopped down next to me and brought his lips to mine.

I got butterflies in my stomach and I held my hand up to his face. I forgot about the world around me for a couple of minutes. Jake finally pulled away and I rested my forehead on his.

"I almost forgot what I dragged you out here for." We were breathing the same air. He stood up and grabbed my hand to bring me up too. We walked up to a small clearing with no tall grass. There was a blanket with a picnic set up.

"This is so cool!" I said, maybe a bit too enthusiastically.

"Yeah I know. It's a bit cheesy, a picnic in a meadow."

"I love it." I said warmly, engulfing him in a hug.

"Let's eat up them." He said.
