So, I've been meaning to ask my neighbor on an excursion… a date.
Do you have any suggestions of where we should go? Or what should we do?
I really have no idea how to do this properly and I really want to impress him.
For your information, he works in the hospitality business–as someone who deals with kitchen and bar–and he is also a very old-fashioned romantic.
Anything will do! Please help!
Desperate for your love,
Hanguang Jun
Wei Wuxian had connected the sex-tips emails to his phone, and when he read the email from one Hanguang Jun, he suddenly became flustered. And excited.
He had no idea why, but when he saw the name Hanguang Jun, he had this funny feeling in the pit of his stomach. Added politeness and the old-school romantic… he was like the person of his dreams.
Too bad the man was in love with someone else.
Wei Wuxian sighed as he suggested that Hanguang Jun take the neighbor to the bookstore where his favorite author would meet her fans and give out signatures for her latest book, and then onto a romantic dinner.
What he wouldn't give to be wined and dined and meet his favorite author…
Wei Wuxian sighed as he put his phone in his pocket and concentrated on the task in front of him.
Surprisingly, the workload finished faster than they should–thanks to the three professional chefs, who also taught the juniors their precious knowledge–and Wei Wuxian couldn't thank them enough.
They all settled for dinner together, cooked by all of them to show off their skills and Xie Lian took a lot of pictures of the gathering. He had something brewing inside his mind and although it was just too early to shape anything from it, his instinct told him that this was a great opportunity.
The food preparation was fun, and all of them became fast friends, with Jiang Yanli and Shen Qingqiu talking about the newest technique and machine in the desserts' world and the others surprisingly mingled together, the Michelin class chefs, the rich businessman, the actor, and the juniors. They were talking and laughing like old friends–drinking beers and eating meat–while Wei Wuxian watched from a distance.
"Drinks?"
He was not surprised when Lan Wangji appeared beside him and offered him a bottle of cold beer before he sat beside him. A little bit too close for comfort actually, since the couch was, well, wide. And yet Lan Wangji preferred to sit right next to him with their thighs touched and suddenly Wei Wuxian felt like the room temperature increased a few more degrees and he started to sweat.
"Thank you." Wei Wuxian took the bottle and drank it greedily to cool his burning inside. "And once again, thank you, for helping us with this. I don't know how to repay you, but I will, I promise." Wei Wuxian didn't know how he should be so lucky by knowing Lan Wangji, and became his friend and neighbor. There was never anyone who cared about him as long as he lived–except for Shen Qingqiu and Xie Lian.
And now, Lan Wangji.
Who looked at him like he was the most delicious treat and the man was starving.
Wei Wuxian gulped nervously and wiped the sweat that was pooling on the curve of his neck.
"And once again I tell you to not worry about it, Wei Ying. I will always be there for you if you ever need me." He smiled and sipped his beer, knowing for sure that he was one step closer to his prey, while he observed the beautiful chef who was obviously nervous.
What he wouldn't give to lick his sweat and made him sweat like that while screaming his name in ecstasy.
"You really are too kind." Wei Wuxian couldn't help but blush and chuckled nervously.
"Your hair is very beautiful. Long, silky, shiny…" Lan Wangji suddenly changed the subject as he took a few strands of Wei Wuxian's hair and pulled it closer–which in turn, pulled the man closer–and he inhaled the sweet scent that came out from it. "And smells good."
Oh. My. God.
Wei Wuxian held his breath when Lan Wangji came closer until they were nose to nose, and the latter looked at his lips hungrily.
He was holding his breath while waiting for the next… whatever. And then, Lan Wangji slowly brushed his knuckles on his cheek softly.
"So, I was invited by this famous romance author for her book launch party. Would you like to come with me? It's tomorrow night. I'm sorry it's a bit sudden, but I just thought that you might like it." Lan Wangji suddenly changed topic and distanced himself from Wei Wuxian. The latter almost whined from the sudden loss of warmth, but thankfully he held back just in time.
Lan Wangji seemed to know exactly what he was doing, since he smiled mischievously, and continued to speak nonchalantly.
"Afterwards, I'm also invited to this private omakase at Jiro's, would you like to come too?"
Wei Wuxian suddenly froze, and his mind became blank.
A romance book launch party? Private omakase at Jiro's?
It was like a dream date for him.
But, did Lan Wangji just read his mind? Those things were the exact thing that he had just suggested to Hanguang Jun, and frankly, he was already half in love with the mysterious man who seemed to go out of his way to romance the object of his affection in the old fashioned way.
He was not really fond of today's standard of romancing. A few drinks and then a tumble in the sheets? No way, Jose.
But then again, was this a… date?
Wei Wuxian was confused by the sudden invitation, and he became panicked. And it seemed that Lan Wangji could read his mind, not that it was a secret since Wei Wuxian had the worst poker face anyone had ever known. The man wore his heart on his sleeves, and sometimes, it had its advantages–especially for a man like Lan Wangji.
"Relax, Wei Ying. This invitation has no string attached. I just thought that maybe you'd like to see the inner working of an author's life, and maybe make some acquaintance while we're there. And afterwards we could enjoy some delicious food, since we're both food afficionados–with you being a famous chef and all." Lan Wangji smiled sweetly at him. "But if you don't want it, I'm sure that Hua Cheng or Binghe could use the opportunity, although I doubt they would want to attend the launching party and go straight to Jiro's and clean up his alcohol's reserve." He shrugged nonchalantly and chuckled.
Patient.
Wei Wuxian took a moment to think, but he decided that it's high time for him to take some risks and play along with his gut.
Book launching party? Check.
Private omakase at Jiro's? No one knew how hard it was to get a place at Jiro's, especially to try his private omakase. Check.
He didn't have anything to do anyway, and what's the worse that could happen? This was also a better way to spend his weekend rather than watching their usual soap opera and bitching about the main actors with Shen Qingqiu and Xie Lian–which they did almost every weekend, followed by drinking and mourning over the death of their love life.
That's it.
Time to change.
"I would love to go with you, Lan Zhan."
