the mango drink wasn't that bad, he purely didn't know what to order and it happened to be the first thing on the menu that he saw, once he finally managed to look away from those sparkly onyx orbs.
taehyungs friends were acting like the usual clowns they were, shoving each other while laughing about some bad joke that really made no sense to him. he only hung out with these people for the benefits, which was mainly free cigarettes and occasionally a hook up with one of their sisters. namjoon may have only been his real friend among the group, him and jimin, but the shorter boy liked his alone time.
"god this," one of the guys, taehyungs thinks his name was mingi, maybe minho, had said, "this is the best part of the morning."
the group of guys had always found themselves here at the smoothie shop, maybe buying a thing or two so they could loiter a bit until they arrived, the group of pretty girls in their little sports bras and leggings after a morning yoga practice. taehyung of course found them all attractive, the nice curves and sculpted facial features just asking for attention with those pouting lips and fluttering eyelashes.
he didn't see any of it today, with the taste of mangos on his tongue and his eyes stealing glances at the small boy behind the counter. everything seemed to make that boy flustered, and he did it with the little tufts of black fluffy hair poking out of the hat. taehyung smiled, bidding goodbye to his friends before walking out of the cafe. he wasn't in the mood to shamelessly flirt today.
taehyung walked back down the way he came, needing to find his car, his baby. the 1965 cadillac eldorado convertible, it was his dads.
the top hadn't been down due to the drizzling rain, but now as the sun had dipped out from behind the grayness of the clouds, taehyung wasn't going to keep the top up.
it was always nice, to drive down the city streets with the cool wind blowing his bangs back and rushing past his ears, no radio or chatter of people on the sidewalks could be heard. just the way he liked it.
taehyung lived about ten minutes from the gym, and fifteen minutes from the smoothie cafe. it was an old warehouse that was renovated into apartments, the place that taehyung found to rent. the loft apartment was enough to suit just him, he was lucky and got the room at the top, best view he'd like to argue.
the loft style was nice, with one open room on the bottom for the kitchen and living room, only separated by an island and carpet. the lofted part was where he slept, a slab of concrete above the kitchen held up by metal beams left over from the warehouse aspect of it, and spiral stairs leading up. taehyung liked the openness of it.
he dropped his keys on the kitchen table and carried his gym bag with him up the stairs, the excess effort to get to bed sometimes got to him and he'd just sleep on the couch.
the black duffel was forgotten once dropped on the floor and kicked underneath the bed, taehyung only thinking about the uncomfortable bother to his side as he pushed open the bathroom door and tugged off his shirt. the black and blue discoloration wasn't too bad, he's seen worse, he's inflicted worse.
he took out the vitamin k cream from the medicine cabinet, it was almost empty. the cream was cold against his skin, pressing lightly on the bruised area to rub it in, ignoring the pinch of pain that came along with it. one day he might go a day without this routine. but not quite yet.
taehyung took the elastic bandage and wrapped it around his waist again, compressing the area. he was a pro at this already, maybe someone would be proud.
it was barely 2 pm, maybe he could call a friend over, or head to the bar for happy hour and stumble home after the sun had said goodbye and the moon was ready to laugh at him. all of that seemed like too much work. taehyung left his shirt on the bathroom floor and walked back out to his room, taking the pack of cigarettes off his nightstand and heading back down the stairs.
usually he'd smoke outside, but it wasn't as appealing during the day. the flame caught quickly and the boy sucked in a deep breath, feeling the smoke invade his lungs and ease his tired mind already.
most of the time he'd leave another cigarette out, never going over three, but today he tossed the pack onto the couch and walked over to the window, leaning against the brick wall and exhaling the smoke from his lips.
he could really go for a mango smoothie right now.

"so do those guys really come everyday?" jungkooks voice sounded small, it was an innocent question, but he knew he was wondering if that certain guy would be coming again. maybe, just maybe, he'd work the counter again tomorrow.
yuqi just nodded, "everyday like clock work." she said, wiping down the counter for the hundredth time, "those girls come too. and everyone likes to act surprised to see one another and flirt again as if yesterday wasn't enough."
jungkook almost tuned his friend out, he was never one to really go out of his way to run into people places and flirt with them. wasn't it embarrassing to keep trying everyday and never get any closer?
"i'm pretty sure they've all banged each other at least once." yuqi finally caught the youngers attention again, who's head snapped up and eyes widened. "at the same time?"
yuqi burst out laughing and patted the boys head, his cheeks pink with embarrassment not knowing what he said wrong. "no sweetie, but they all party and drink together, my friends and i have seen it."
jungkook just nodded and messed with the strings on his apron. hoseok goes to those parties, he hangs out with his friend yoongi and they go drink together and sometimes bring it back to the house. jungkook never wanted to try it, he was always nervous and didn't know what to do. of course he doesn't know what goes on at those parties, but i guess acting like that was normal.
"i gotta go, can you finish wiping down those two tables over there?" yuqi asked, pulling off her apron as her shift was ending. she attended night classes for college, jungkook never really thought much about going to college, he made money now working where he loved and had a nice house. he wasn't good at much else.
"sure." he smiled at his friend before taking the spray and damp cloth, continuing to clean up spilled drops of smoothies or leftover lettuce from wraps. he worked for a couple more hours, then he could go home and nap before hoseok hyung came back from his job.
maybe he wouldn't nap, maybe he would just go home and stay up until he was too tired and just fell asleep all night. it was weird, to look forward to the next day to something other than work or muffins for his friend. jungkook was looking forward to seeing taehyung again.
