it's been nearly two weeks since he went to watch the sunset with jimin, and since he last spent a whole day with taehyung. jungkook really missed him.
of course the brunette had called him and every evening to say goodnight and texted throughout the day to see how work has been and whether or not he ate. but it wasn't the same. and jungkook really missed him.
"i think it's my turn." the orange haired boy said, pulling the laptop closer to him and ignoring the way the younger pouted. "but i already knew what movie i was gonna pick." he argued back.
jimin closed his eyes and dramatically sighed, "if i have to watch despicable me one more time this week, i'm going drink lighter fluid and set myself on fire."
the imagine flashed in jungkooks mind and he widened his eyes a bit. "that's a little excessive."
he's been spending a lot of time with jimin recently instead, they went ice skating on thursdays with hoseok and then watched movies instead of going to parties. jungkook said he could go if he wanted, but jimin always got more comfy in the youngers bed and would ask what movie they would watch tonight.
this was all because of taehyungs request, having the orange haired boy hanging out with jungkook to keep his mind busy when he wasn't working. of course, jimin didn't really mind. it's been a while since he hung out with a good friend. maybe taehyung feels guilty about this too.
"have you ever watched tiny house nation?" jimin asked.
"no but it sounds adorable and i want it." the ravenette said, getting up to grab the candy bags from his backpack and two water bottles.
he opened the bag of skittles and climbed into bed besides jimin. "it's the best show." he said, pushing the laptop onto the sheets between them and fixing the pillow behind his back. "and give me some." jimin added, holding his hand out for some candy.
they say and watched, jungkook was amazed at the living space the families were converting into and wondered where they would keep all their stuffed animals and hoodies. "they don't keep those things, it's tiny living so you only bring the important stuff." jimin explained.
it was quiet for a bit, they were doing the big reveal of the little house on the show and at least one of the boys was paying attention. jungkook couldn't seem to focus though.
"jimin." he whispered, his head was on his friends chest, having his black hair played with gently by the older. "hm?" jimin hummed.
"do you think taehyung hates me?"
his voice was soft, somehow managing to speak the words that have tormented his mind these past two weeks. finally saying them out loud made jungkook frown, maybe because he didn't want to hear the answer, or maybe because he thinks he already knew it.
"hey, why would you think that?" jimin furrowed his eyebrows and poked the younger, sitting up and now completely forgetting about the show and focusing solely on the pouting ravenette. "i feel like he's avoiding me."
"he's just busy." jimin frowned. he may know a reason or two why, but it just wasn't time yet to say anything. he'd have to remember to tell the brunette about this later.
"we used to talk and see each other all the time," jungkook was playing with one of the skittles on the bed sheet, moving it around with his finger. "we talk at night now, sometimes he comes to my work in the morning. but it's like we're going backwards to how things were when we first met." it's been on his mind too much, and the negativity was just overpowering all the sweet moments they had together.
"stop that." jimin said sternly, seeing the boy just pout some more. "wanna know a story?" he asked, smiling a bit and nudging jungkooks thigh.
the smaller boy looked up, a little confused why the other would change the topic so drastically, but that was jimin. he was an odd character. "please tell me." jungkook humored him.
"remember how i told you taehyung was an old friend?" he tilted his head a bit and waited for an answer, only receiving a nod and some bouncy bangs. "well, you see this scar?" jimin pointer to his jawline, the thin white line going from just below his cheek down to underneath his chin.
jungkook had noticed it before, on the days jimin wasn't wearing that much makeup and he was close enough to see the details on the boys fave. he never wanted to point it out, despite his natural curiosity, he wasn't sure if it was something the older didn't like.
"you see, this scar is a little reminder of my lovely times with taehyung." he chuckled quietly, it wasn't a conversation with jimin if he didn't try to make it a little humorous, not matter how serious. "you know what taehyung does right?"
jungkook nodded and held up his little fists, earning a light laugh from the older who patted his hands back down to his lap, "yes, that's right. well, believe it or not, me and taehyung were close, best friends you could say."
he was invested now, jungkook didn't know much about taehyungs past since they never really got around to it. he was so open and flirty yet closed off once the younger tried asking certain things. "i wanted him to stop." jimins eyes were a little dazed, recalling the past and now playing with the other boys fingers.
jungkook didn't want to speak, he just let the other do what he wanted, not wanting to interrupt whatever he was thinking about.
"of course i hated seeing him come back all bruised and bloody, no matter how much money he brought to pay the rent." a dry chuckle escaped. "i guess going to his match was a bad idea that day."
there was a pause and jimin gave a light shrug, "there's bad people in this world bambi. some people don't like to lose, taehyung never lost. these guys couldn't beat him in fighting, so i guess they thought going after something else to beat him would work." jimin had tightened his grip on the youngers hand but he remained quiet, his throat felt full and his stomach kept flipping at everything he was hearing. there was so much he didn't know.
"they came to our house once, taught taehyung a lesson by giving me a little rough up." he explained, "and voila, the scar was the main thing that stuck around."
"i'm so sorry jimin." jungkook started to say but the older boy just shook his head and smiled.
"no, i have a point kookie," he insisted, a smile finally on his face that was contagious jungkook couldn't help but give him a small smile back. "after that, he was so guilty he pushed me away, we didn't talk for months."
jungkook wasn't sure what part of this was suppose to make him feel better, since taehyung was basically not talking to him or spending time together like they did before he knew.
"but you're different. i can tell." jimin said, tapping the boys chin and nudging it upwards. "you mean a lot to him, i can see it in his eyes." there was a sad little smile on those plump lips, and jungkook couldn't help but feel his heart race at the little validation.
he jumped forward and through his arms around the older in a big hug, squeezing him tightly to show how much it meant that jimin opened up to him without jungkook needed to beg to be told something. "thank you." he whispered quietly, kissing his cheek before pulling away.
"uh, your welcome." jimin mumbled, scratching the back of his neck and shaking his head to get rid of the warmth in his cheeks. it's been a while since he's been around someone so caring. "you pick a movie, i'm tired of this show." jimin leaned back to his original position and tugged the younger to lay down again. "just please no despicable me."
jungkook broke into a fit of giggles and snuggled further into his friends side, looking up to see the smile on his face, and feeling better already.
