the morning was chilly, the gloomy clouds unwilling to let the rising sun peek through its endless grey stretching across the sky. the small boy may have been the only one walking along the sidewalk this early in the morning, along with this weather bound to bring rain later in the day.

he enjoyed it, the cold breeze turning his nose and cheeks a rosy color and the tiny raindrops landing in his hair like little kisses from the sky. he couldn't get out of bed fast enough.

jungkook smiled to himself as he continued to head down the sidewalk and occasionally jump over growing puddles or splash in the smaller ones, wetting his vans without much of a care. the little grocery store was around the corner, a cute shop that had the young boys eyes set on it for some breakfast items.

"good morning." jungkook greeted an elderly woman buying one of the newspapers outside the grocery store. she smiled in return and huddled underneath the awning and the little protection it offered from the drizzling rain.

jungkook zipped up his jacket a bit more, he didn't plan that much a head and wasn't ready for the goosebumps rising on his arms and legs from the cool air inside the shop. "maybe i'll bring an umbrella next time." he thought out loud, taking one of the baskets and carrying it down a few aisles.

the boy picked out some cereal for himself and muffins from the bakery he knew his roommate would appreciate once he woke up. of course he couldn't forget the tea bags and sugar so he'd have something to drink before bed later that night.

jungkook quickly paid before hurrying back down the sidewalk and fumbling for his keys to the townhouse, thankfully the rain had led up and some streaks of sunlight were peering through the clouds. there were more cars on the city streets now, people heading to work or to run errands after filling their bellies with a good breakfast.

the television was on when the small boy finally fit the key into the lock and pushed the door open, slipping off his vans and walking past the stairs to the kitchen in the back of the house. "good morning." jungkook said, trying to make his voice louder so he could be heard over the news going on about gas prices increasing and what to expect of the future inflation.

there were footsteps coming down the hall and then a messy bed head peering around the corner. "did you get breakfast?" the older boy asked, curiously peering over his roommates shoulder to sneak a peak at the contents in the shopping bag.

jungkook stuck his bottom lip out in a pout and did his best to shoot a mean glare over his shoulder. "i'm kidding, good morning to you too squirt." hoseok laughed, ruffling the youngers hair before going to grab the cartoon of orange juice from the fridge.

"i got you muffins." jungkook said, setting the bakery bag on the counter and continuing to put away the rest of the groceries.

"an actual angel." hoseok beamed. he poured the younger boy a glass of juice before handing it over and taking a sip from the cartoon, "have a muffin as well kook, and don't be late for work."

jungkook nodded and took his glass of juice upstairs to his bedroom. the townhouse they shared was small, but it fit the two of them. upstairs there were two bedrooms and a bathroom in the hall, there was another bathroom downstairs along with the living room and kitchen. maintenance was easy since they didn't have a yard to take care of and jungkooks work was only down the street, opposite the direction of the grocery store.

his job was his most favorite thing in the world. getting up for a shift in the morning was the best part of jungkooks day, and today was a special day at that.

the raventte quickly pulled on a new pair of light blue jeans that weren't dotted with raindrops and a plain white t-shirt, he remembered to grab his uniform hat before running back down the stairs and yelling goodbye to hoseok. "i'll see you tonight!"

a five minute walk was all it took until the sign was seen, paradise smoothie cafe.

jungkooks pace quickened, glancing down at his watch only to see he was eleven minutes early. he walked faster.

the rain had stopped and more people were out on the sidewalks, gladly getting out of jungkooks way as he pushed open the cafes door and heard the familiar chime of the bell overhead. it wasn't busy yet, most people came around brunch time and even lunch, especially since the cafe started making more items other than just smoothies.

jungkook walked to the back and set his things down, finding his apron and tugging on his hat. today he was finally getting out of the back. most of the time he would work in the back and cut the fruit and store them in certain containers ready for the next order, always fresh and never out for longer than needed. no one bothered to take that place from him since he was so good at it, jungkook always liked his organization skills.

today however, he had finally gotten the courage to work in the front. his friend, yuqi, was also working the counter today and would help him out if he needed.

"good morning jungkook!" her voice was loud and clear in the empty cafe. a smile seemed to always be on her thin lips and some colorful clips pulling back her hair underneath the cap. "hi yuqi." he smiled back.

"are you ready for today?" she asked, grabbing one of the rags to wipe down the counter for a second time, it tends to get sticky with all the fruit.

jungkook just nodded and stood at the front, watching people pass the cafe windows like robots on an assembly line. it seemed to mechanic, everyone looked the same with their fancy clothes and faces in their phones.

"we have an hour until it get busy," yuqi said, "then write down the order before handing it back to yeosang."

he listened carefully, it seemed pretty easy, he was usually he one receiving the paper slip and getting the fruit or the veggie wraps or protein shakes, today he had to remember to smile and be friendly to the customers. that was his main goal to achieve.

yuqi was right, it didn't get busy for maybe an hour. they had a few people come in and jungkook managed to get the slips back and put in the order to the register efficiently. when no one was in, the two friends would just talk and giggle about random things, jungkook even found out where she got her pretty clips.

"oh these guys," yuqi's voice quieter down, "they always come here after the gym at the same time every day."

the two glanced out the cafe windows to see a group of boys, maybe six of them, walking towards the door.

"how do you know they come here after the gym?" jungkook asked, looking curiously over at the boys as they shoved open the door and immediately drowned out the soft music playing with their obnoxious chatter and laughs. "Just wait for the smell." yuqi said, nudging jungkooks side with a smile.

"welcome to paradise smoothie, what can i get you?" the greeting was always the same, engraved in their brains, but yuqi managed to say it with a smile every time.

"the same thing as usual." one of the boys said. his eyebrows were thick and his nose looked a little crooked, jungkook didn't like his tone.

yuqi clicked the pen and scribbled on the paper slip to make sure it worked well, "please sir we have many customers a day, what can i get you?" she asked again.

the guy looked a little annoyed, but he ordered anyways and mumbled something to his friends after wards. jungkook couldn't help but feel happy the guy didn't approach him, he may have felt too scared to say anything.

"aren't you going to ask me what i want?" the voice caught jungkook off guard and his head snapped up to look at the guy in front of him. there was a little smirk playing on the mans lips and jungkooks felt his cheeks heat up. he must not have been paying attention enough to notice him approach.

"i'm sorry," the young boy mumbled, "what would you like to order?"

the boy stayed silent and just kept looking at the smaller boy with the same subtle smirk and glint of amusement in his eyes. jungkook just wished the floor would swallow him up.

"i'll take the mango smoothie." his voice was deep and velvety, maybe as attractive as his face was, which was very handsome indeed.

jungkook just nodded and kept his eyes lowered, he knew his face must have been as red as the strawberries with ears to match. he took the pen and scribbled on the paper slip before handing it back to yeosang behind the second counter and grabbing a plastic cup.

"my names taehyung, by the way." the guy said, leaning against the counter now and still looking at jungkook.

gosh does this guy ever blink. he thought to himself, holding the pen and cup in his hands like an idiot. "we don't d-do that here." jungkook cringed at the stutter in is voice, but it was true, they never wrote names on the cups for their customers.

taehyung just shrugged, "i know, it's not my first time here." he said, "but you should write it down anyways."

jungkook did his best not to roll his eyes at the cheesy words from the other boy. he didn't expect to be flirted with, but was it really flirting if it had to be explained.

the small boy set the pen down and dug for the marker in his apron pocket, turning his back to taehyung and scribbling on the clear plastic before setting it on the counter. yeosang handed him the bowl of mangos and other needed things before jungkook used the blender, soon pouring the smoothie into the plastic cup.

"straws are down there." jungkook smiled, handing the smoothie to the boy who had his eyes narrowed slightly in curiosity. the smirk playing on his lips never left as he paid and walked down by his friends to get a straw.

he glanced at the cup and couldn't help but chuckle quietly at the nicely written words.

taehyung, likes mango smoothies.
