FOURTEEN — waiting for a girl like you

         BELLA LOOKED FOR AN OUTFIT in her closet but couldn't find anything decent to wear. chrissy had gotten word about a party in the hills and since she hasn't really gone out to a party and her parents were gone for the weekend, she decided to go.

as bella rummaged her closer for an outfit, she decided on wearing a nice blouse and some jeans, along with her white sneakers. she didn't like getting too dressed up for parties, given the fact that she was gonna be dancing half of the time.

as she did her makeup, the phone began to ring. she hurriedly walked over to answer as she held her mascara in her other hand. she grabbed the phone and held the phone up to her ear.

"hello." bella said as she attempted to do her mascara.

"are you almost ready?" chrissy said.

"almost, are you picking me up already?" bella said as she began to do her eyeshadow.

"about that, slight change of plans." chrissy nervously giggled. "johnny offered to pick us up."

"alright fine." bella sighed. "when's he coming?"

"in a few minutes, he's getting the guys, then me, then you." chrissy said. "just be ready."

"alright. i'll see you there." bella sighed as she finished up her makeup. as she went into her closet to grab her jean jacket, she heard a car pull up in her driveway and honk about 3 times.

she looked out the window to find johnny's avanti convertible parked in bella's driveway. she rolled her eyes as she grabbed her keys and ran downstairs. she opened her front door and made sure to lock it. as she walked out of her house, she found johnny sitting in his car, with mötley crüe blasting on the radio

"so this is north hollywood?" johnny smirked as bella got into the passenger seat of the red avanti. "it's better than encino."

"do you always play your music this loud?" bella laughed as she put her seatbelt on. "people work, you know?"

"it's mötley crüe." johnny said as he started the car and drove down the street. "or would you rather listen to something girly, like madonna?"

"who says i don't listen to mötley crüe?" bella smirked. "but i'm more of a ratt type of girl."

"you listen to ratt?" johnny smiled as he gripped the steering wheel. "you're full of surprises, aren't you, princess?"

bella smiled as she bit her lip. the drive to pick up the other boys was quiet. bella nervously played with the buttons on her jean jacket as johnny gripped the steering wheel, occasionally looking over at bella. at every stoplight, he would turn and look at bella, who would be staring out the window. he continued to stare at her until she caught him looking at her.

"like what you see, lawrence?" bella smirked as she removed her jacket and placed it on her lap.

"maybe." johnny smiled. "i've told you before that you're beautiful."

"well, what about you?" bella smiled. "you're looking handsome tonight."

bella really thought he was looking handsome tonight. he was wearing some jeans, his converse, and a green button-up short sleeve, with his red cobra kai jacket. bella bit her lip as she looked at the way he focused on the highway and gripped the wheel.

she was snapped out of her trance when johnny pulled up to pick up the boys who decided to meet up at tommy's. all the guys jumped into the backseat, surprisingly they all fit. after picking them up, the drive to chrissy's was anything but quiet.

"we're only missing barbara and susan." chrissy said. "you wanna head over there and pick them up?"

"i thought they said that they couldn't." bella said as she turned to the back seat.

"oh, that's right." chrissy said. "what about ali?"

at the mention of ali's name, johnny tensed up and his grip on the steering wheel got stronger. bella noticed this and sighed. she knew that mentioning ali brought back memories of their relationship. he looked over at bella and she gave him a smiled and mouthed the words "it's okay" as he gave her a soft smile.

"i don't know if she'll wanna go, i heard she was going on a date with larusso." dutch said.

"where?" johnny said as he sighed.

"don't tell me you're gonna go mess with him?" bella said.

"we won't do anything." bobby said. "just stop by to see if she wants to join us."

"will we even fit?" chrissy laughed. "we're pretty packed in here."

"i think she'll fit." bella said. "where did he take her?"

"golf n' stuff, i'm guessing." jimmy said. johnny headed to golf n' stuff to see if ali was really there. bella laughed with chrissy and the guys, but noticed that johnny was quiet than he normally is. she looked over at him a couple of times, but he was just focused on the road ahead of him.

when they finally arrived to golf n' stuff, they found ali and daniel walking into the parking lot, hand in hand. chrissy waved at ali as she walked over to the car.

"we're heading up to the hills." chrissy smiled. "you wanna come with us?"

"i'm good, thank you though." ali smiled as he held daniel's hand. he seemed a bit nervous as johnny stared at them both.

"we'll make room! don't worry." bella smiled as she moved to the side.

"maybe next time guys." ali smiled.

"your little friend can come too, if it's okay with his mommy." johnny spoke up as a lady in a station wagon pulled up. bella rolled her eyes as the guys laughed and joked about the couple.

"what the hell?" chrissy said. "you guys can't leave him alone, can you?"

"we're just joking around chris." tommy said.

"idiots." bella scoffed as she ran a hand through her hair.

when chrissy, bella, and the cobras arrived at the party, the aroma of liquor and sweat filled the room. hurts so good by john cougar was blasting through the speakers as they made their way around the crowds. the boys immediately went to get some drinks while chrissy and bella went to go dance.

all night long, johnny kept his gaze on bella. he took a sip of the liquor that was in his red solo cup as he watched bella dance. he would go up to bella and try to take her out to dance, but she would refuse.

he stood with his back against the wall as the other guys drank and took girls out to dance. as bella walked away from the dance floor, she went to the coolers and grabbed a cup to serve herself some fruity drink.

"you okay?" bella said as she walked up to johnny who was watching the boys. "i'm sorry about ali."

"nah it's fine." johnny said as he took a sip from his solo cup. "that's over anyway."

"she seems happy." bella said. "i'm glad she's happy."

"yeah, i guess if you love something, you gotta set it free right?" johnny smiled. bella nodded and took a sip of her drink, as a slow song by foreigner came on. "come dance with me."

"i'll pass." bella smirked.

johnny grabbed her hand and took her to the center. she nervously giggled as she walked to the center with johnny. he wrapped his arms around bella's waist as she wrapped her arms around his neck and swayed to the song.

while they danced together to waiting for a girl like you by foreigner, she felt secure in his arms. bella placed her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes for a brief second. johnny pulled bella closer to his body as he slowly swayed to the beat of the song.

bella swore that she could stay like this forever. while she was in his arms, time seemed to stop and she felt as if they were the only two people in the world. as johnny held bella close, they both came to the realization that there was something between them. johnny seemed to forget about ali and focused on the brunette girl whom he was holding.

she looked up to look into his bright blue eyes as he leaned in and pressed his lips against hers. she melted into his embrace and held him close to her body as the music continued to play through the speakers.
