EIGHT — black velvet

     "I HOPE YOU'LL BE ACCOMPANYING US TONIGHT." bella's mom said as she got ready to leave for work. "i know chrissy and ali will be there with their parents."

"do i have a choice?" bella said. "even if i said no, chrissy and ali would beg me to go, so to answer your question, yes, i'm going."

"i hope you have something to wear." bella's mom smiled as she got her purse and headed out the door. bella ran upstairs to look through her closet to see what she could find. as she looked through the dresses in her closet, the phone began to ring.

"hello?" bella said.

"please tell me you're going to that benefit dinner tonight." ali sighed. "my parents are making me go and chrissy's going."

"i'm being dragged there as well." bella chuckled as she sat down on her bed. "do you have an outfit?"

"yes." ali said. "i'm guessing you don't?"

"i've literally worn every dress in my closet." bella sighed. "i really need to head to the mall to see what i can find."

"say no more. chrissy and i will be there in a couple of minutes." ali said. "be ready in about 20 minutes."

bella, chrissy, and ali arrived to the mall and browsed the stores for the perfect dress. as bella looked for her dress for tonight's dinner party at the country club, ali and chrissy looked at clothes as well.

"what about this one?" chrissy said as she held up a strapless light blue dress. "it's cute and curvy."

"nah, i'm not really digging the color." bella said as she continued looking. "i didn't know how much i needed new dresses until i saw my closet."

"i feel like i've literally worn every dress for either a banquet, a dinner, or a dance." ali said as she continued to look at dresses until she found a yellow dress that was a little bit below the knees. "what about this?"

"it's cute, but it just doesn't feel night-ish." bella said as she ran her hands through her hair. "how do you both find outfits so quick?"

"because i picked something out of my closet." chrissy laughed as she looked at some overalls for her. "besides, i rarely go to benefit dinners, which reminds me, ali, tonight's your first benefit as a single woman. you'll get to look around and won't be tied down."

"let's not hold our breath." ali laughed. "i'm pretty sure laura's gonna drag johnny to go with her, which means he's gonna drag the others as well."

bella felt her heart drop and her palms sweat once ali mentioned johnny. after their little meeting at the beach two weeks ago, she hadn't heard from him, which was a good thing, but what worried bella was that he would try to mess with ali or her during the benefit.

"bella!" ali said, which snapped bella out of her thoughts. "i think i found it."

bella walked over to where ali was and saw her friend holding up a beautiful black velvet dress. it had a sheer top part and sleeves, open back, and it was just a little bit above the knee.

"it's beautiful, but i can't pull this off." bella smiled softly.

"of course you can! it's your size and i'm sure it'll fit you perfectly." ali smiled.

"besides, you have the curves for it." chrissy smirked as she looked at the dress. "you're going to look killer in that dress."

"fine, i'll take it." bella said. "i'll only use it for tonight and that's it."

"yeah, whatever you say." chrissy smirked.

the encino oaks country club was full of some very important people tonight. this country club was exclusively for the people who knew people or people who had it made. anybody who was somebody was here every single weekend.

as people continued to arrive to the country club, johnny sat in his red avanti convertible, fixing his hair and suit. as he waited for the other cobras to arrive, he spotted ali entering the club with her parents. he tried not to stare at her, but it was a habit by now. he let out a loud sigh and tapped on the steering wheel nervously. as if on cue, the other boys arrived and stood beside johnny's car and he got out of the car.

"forget it." bobby said as he turned to johnny. "let her go."

johnny straightened out his suit and fixed his hair one more time, before a certain brunette caught his eye.

"check it out. hot brunette in a black velvet dress, 10 o' clock." jimmy smirked.

johnny kept his eye on the brunette until she turned around and he caught a glimpse of her face. his eyes widened once he saw it was bella.

"oh shit." johnny muttered to himself.

"isn't that the chick you bumped into after you got bitch slapped by ali at golf n' stuff?" tommy smirked. "the one that spilled her drink."

johnny didn't say anything, instead he let out a loud sight and fixed his suit one last time before walking to the entrance of the club, leaving the other boys behind.

meanwhile, bella and her family had just found a table and sat down. bella looked for ali and chrissy, who were also sitting with their families. chrissy, who was sitting near johnny's table, noticed the blonde staring at her friend and couldn't help but to smirk to herself. chrissy walked over to bella's table and greeted her bella's parents before pulling bella aside.

"i told you that you would look killer." chrissy said as she hugged bella. "you definitely have the curves for it."

"it's beautiful, a little tight in some areas, but beauty is pain right?" bella laughed.

"looks like you caught someone's attention." chrissy smirked as she motioned to where johnny was sitting. bella turned to find johnny with his friends, talking at their table. "he was drooling over you about 5 minutes ago."

"they're all checking me out." bella laughed as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. chrissy went back to the table where her parents were, as bella walked to the bathroom. she looked at herself in the mirror as she adjusted her dress. as she walked out of the bathroom, she turned to find the blonde coming towards her. she sighed and crossed her arms as he approached her.

"can i help you?" bella smirked. "men's room is the other way."

"you look gorgeous, princess." johnny smirked as he looked at bella up and down, admiring her every curve and features.

"yeah, thats because i'm wearing a tight black velvet dress that shows my curves." bella sighed. "i can tell you're aroused."

"i'm being serious." johnny smiled. "you look beautiful."

"you're not too bad yourself, lawrence." bella smirked before she walked away and back into the reception hall. "i'll see you around."

johnny stood there as he admired bella as she walked away. he stood there trying to control the feeling he got in his stomach. he sighed as he ran a hand through his blonde locks and walked back to the reception hall. he had never gotten this feeling, ever, not even when he was with ali. bella made him feel emotions that he couldn't even describe. he was falling, and boy was he falling hard.
