That Can't Be Tadashi
I'm going to backtrack for a moment, if you don't mind. Don't worry though, it'll be quick.
Months had passed since Tadashi died. Lots of people had moved on. Wasabi was actually being offered a job at Krei Industries after be graduated. Honey Lemon had signed up to study abroad in New London after this quarter. Even Fred was preparing for a six month long trip where he would meet various different comic book writers and artists to learn their techniques and secrets.
Without Tadashi to hold our little group together we were all drifting apart. Nobody wanted to admit it but we all knew it was happening.
That was, until we found Hiro with Baymax who had been stuffed into carbon fiber underwear. Now I hated seeing Baymax normally. To much of Tadashi was in that robot. But seeing him being used as a weapon really rubbed me the wrong way. Tadashi wanted to help people. Not hurt them.
Or at least, I was angry until Hiro explained to us why he was using Baymax in that way. After that, I wanted to take the Kabuki man's mask and shove it up his-
Never mind.
Okay, backtracking is complete. Onto the main story. We had spent the day at Fred's mansion -which I still hadn't quite wrapped my head around- and we all decided it was time for a break. We would meet up later to finish perfecting fighting techniques but until then we were done.
So I figured it was a perfect opportunity to do something. The only question was what?
I found myself wandering into Fred's mansion, which I still hadn't wrapped my head around. Before I knew it I was in the large room filled with comics.
I admit, it was an impressive collection. He had copies ranging from decades old to freshly printed.
"Hey there." Fred's voice rang behind me. After nearly jumping out of my skin I turned to face him. He had exchanged his usual turquoise beanie for one of a dark red. Deeper than Baymax's suit. "See anything intreating?"
"It's a great collection." I nodded and sat on the plush couch that faced his wall of action figures. My hands found the ring I had placed on a simple silver chain. It was hidden beneath my grey tank top and the metal felt cold against my skin.
"What is that?" Fred asked, joining me on the couch. Of all the things I had pegged Fred as being (annoying, crazy, superstitious, idiotic, the list goes on) caring or even mildly untreated in the real world was never on that list.
I wasn't completely sure I wanted to show the ring to Fred. I hadn't shown anyone, not even Honey. Well, especially not Honey. Deny it as she might whenever Tadashi had talked to her her face became a shade not unlike a tomato.
But I also wanted to talk about it with someone. Ever since Tadashi died I hadn't gotten remotely close to anyone. And all the things I wanted to get out of my system had been building up for ages.
Slowly, and quite unsurely, I pulled the silver chain up. When the ring finally emerged I let go and it thudded lightly back down again.
Fred leaned in a little to get a better view of the ring. "Wow. That looks a lot like an engagement ring, you know." He sat up again and I watched realization cross his face. "Oh my Galactisor did somebody propose to you?"
The truth was I didn't even know. From the note it sounded like he was asking me to marry him but what if it was just some sort of sick joke? "I guess so." I said finally.
"Oh my good Thantos tell me who!" He insisted and jumped up.
"Tadashi did." I took out a stick of gum and began chewing it vigorously.
"Oh silly GoGo." Fred laughed. "Tadashi died in a fiery explosion."
"There was a note that came with it. Cass found it and gave it to me after that night." I crossed my arms and looked away from him.
"Oh." His joking attitude was gone, leaving me to wonder where this side of Fred had come from. "That really sucks. I'm sorry, Go."
"Yeah well there's nothing you can do, is there? So why bother feeling sorry?" I grabbed my jacket and quickly made my way out of the mansion. Fred might have been calling after me, he might not have. I either way, I wasn't listening. I pulled myself onto yellow bike. After months of work I had perfected the electro mag suspension. With far more force than necessary I pulled on the old black helmet.
(•-•)
At this point I didn't even know where I was. Anywhere seemed better than where I was. My bike slowed to a halt and I inhaled deeply before taking the key from ignition. It lost it's hum and I swung my leg away and onto the sidewalk next to me. After removing my helmet I dug for some change in my pockets and fed the meter for 30 minutes.
I looked around for somewhere to sit and rest and my eyes fell on someplace I hadn't been for a very long time.
The Lucky Cat Café.
Gritting my teeth I pushed the door open and was welcomed with the scent of freshly baked bread. Behind the counter was girl I'd never seen. She had red hair, more gingery than Fred's, and wore a bored expression. It makes sense Cass would have someone else begin working the store when she couldn't. That used to be Tadashi's job.
"Two cranberry scones." GoGo said when she got to the counter. She placed the proper amount of cash on the counter. With an annoyed roll of her eyes she collected the money and subtle two pastries out for me. With little effort I found a seat next to the large windows
I put the helmet on the table and settled into the wooden seats. Something about the aroma of the little cafe calmed me in a way that nothing else could. The combination of new baked goods, the warm sun beating on me through the window, and the slight murmur of people coming in and out had some sort of magical effect and as quick as it had come my rage was gone.
Outside I watched as two people walked by. A girl with long brown hair that reached to her waist, much like Honey Lemon's, and wore a maroon sweater. A boy with bright green hair had his arm protectively around her waist.
As they strolled past something across the road caught GoGo's eye. The swish of a long dark cape. She turned her full attention to it just in time to see the face of the wearer.
The man was tall and had short, black hair. With a large nose and soft, brown eyes he looked like he couldn't hurt a fly. GoGo got up and followed him into an ally with only one thought in mind.
That can't be Tadashi.
~~~ one might ask themselves 'hmm. Why would SparkleWolf choose this picture? The answer is simple. I've been trying to write this chapter for a week and couldn't get past the first sentence, even though I knew exactly what I wanted to happen. So I became Hiro Hamada and cried at my inability to write. Not really. I actually spent a good deal of time searching for the bh6 movie on YouTube (found most of it in instagram, actually) and thus this thing was born. Like? Hate? I WANNA KNOW YOUR SPARKLY THOUGHTS! Stay Sparkly -- SparkleWolf ~~~
