Chapter 19 - Suspecting
I followed Ink and a few guards through the hallway. I didn't know where we were going so I stayed alert of my surroundings.
Double doors came into my view. I had no clue where it led because I had never been on the other side.
The guards pushed it opened which let me see the unknown room. It was almost as big as my training area. Big machinery that made loud noises. The frequency was a little too high for my advanced hearing.
Several people dressed in weird outfits rushed around and climbed into the giant machinery. It started to move and eventually take off into the sky. In the middle was one that was bigger than all the rest. It seemed to carry heavy boxes and guns.
It felt like I was just activated, I didn't know what anything was.
My eyes noticed people working on a large metal capsule. It was big enough to fit one person in it.
I looked down at Ink. He was looking at the floor as we walked. I grabbed his hand and he held it with a slight anxious feeling.
The guards led us to two very small rooms. I was pushed into one while Ink went into the other.
I looked around and saw strange clothing on a "mannequin". It was exactly my size by the looks of it. Putting my hand on the material, I analyzed it. This "armor" was made with something very strong but I couldn't pin point what is was. The molecules were very small, so it couldn't be any type of common metal.
I trailed my index along the left arm. Then it reached the center, where a small red circle was located. I pressed it and the suit instantly compressed itself into the circle. This allowed me to hold the strange armor in the palm of my hand.
My mind told me to put it on by holding it against my chest. I did and the suit came out, wrapping around my body. It slightly startled me but it didn't hurt at all. The armor acted like a protective barrier for my body.
I walked out of the room to find Ink and the guards standing around, most likely waiting for me. Ink was dressed with brown flexible clothing. On his back was a giant object that looked like a paint brush. I guess that was just his weapon of choice.
They looked at me when they took notice. Ink observed my armor. He didn't seem familiar with it either.
Ink: What the hell is this?
???: It's Nanotechnology. Isn't it awesome?
A voice pulled our attention. Ink and I both saw a young scientist walking towards us. He was average height but looked very young. He had brown curly hair and freckles. Glasses sat loosely under his eyes.
???: My name is Mason. I'm the proud inventor of the suit that you wear.
This human walked up to me without any fear. He suddenly grabbed my hand and started to shake it. I looked at Ink with confusion.
Ink: It's a form of greeting.
He whispered to me.
Mason: It's great to make your acquaintance. I have to say, I am a big fan of you. The scientists really are smart. They gave you pretty much everything.
Mason smiled at me but I immediately didn't like it. There was something... off about him. However I couldn't make out what.
The strange scientist looked at the guards.
Mason: Can I look at him for a few minutes?
Guard: Make it quick.
I was dragged to a chair before being forced to sit down. Ink stood next to me and I was grateful. I knew that if I got mentally unstable, everything was pretty much doomed. And right now, I was feeling a little stressed out.
Mason got close and looked at every single fiber of my body.
Mason: Advanced hearing, advanced eyesight, advanced speed and strength. You have a really high level of magic. What did they not give you?
He wrote down things in a small book that was in his coat.
Me: I have a question.
Mason: What is it?
Me: What is this?
I asked as I pointed towards the armor that I was wearing.
Mason: Oh, that's a little something that I made. It's nanotech. Can be created into pretty much anything. Super durable and easily compressed.
Ink: Like Tony Stark's suit?
He agreed with Ink. They started talking about something that I didn't understand. I sat uncomfortably while waiting for them to stop. I wanted to leave and take Ink with me. I had a bad feeling about this scientist so I didn't want Ink or I to be near him.
I stood up abruptly and grabbed Ink's hand. I dragged him anyway from that scientist back to the guards.
Ink: Why did you do that?
Me: I don't trust him.
Ink: He seemed like a good kid.
Me: He could be faking it.
Ink didn't say a word after that when he realized that I could be right. Once we told the guards that we were ready, they led us to the giant machine. They stopped at the metal empty capsule before turning to me and saying...
Get in the cage
