Chapter 17 - He's Not A Bad Guy

Ink's POV (Very Rarely)

I stared at Error as he rested. He's always on edge here. Even if my father was told to treat him like a real person. Although, I know I didn't know the full truth. When it was around training time I'm not allowed anywhere near Error. They said that he could go haywire and kill me.

Not a few minutes later, I felt the bed move which told me that Error was awake. His eyes opened and stared at me. I saw small digital affects in his eye lights.

Me: Morning Error.

Error: Morning, Ink.

His eyes wandered for a second before stopping at my arm. He noticed the bandages wrapped around the rainbow ecto skin. I didn't tell him that I got injured during a training session. Error quickly pushed himself up and gently grabbed my arm.

Error: Ink, what happened?

Me: I got slightly injured.

In Error's eyes, I saw an emotion that I never encountered with him. There was so much... anger and hatred. That's not the emotion that you would want the strongest weapon to show.

Me: I-It's fine, Error. I-It's just a scratch. Nothing t-too bad.

I was lying, it hurt like fucking hell. I was training with an agent that I didn't quite know, and they stuck a knife in my arm. Although I think Error could see right through my little lie.

Error: You flinched for a second when I touched your injury. The tone of your laugh and the way you're somewhat avoiding eye contact with me tells me everything. They hurt you.

Me: They didn't mean to. I was careless with how I was fighting.

Error: Ink.

I flinched under his sudden change of voice. Normally he was soft spoken and curious but now... he sounded angry and ready to kill.

Error: Was this on purpose or was it an accident?

Me: It was an accident. I'm being honest.

The anger in his eyes disappeared but it never went away fully. Error then pulled me into a hug. The peaceful silence between us was broken when there was a knock on the door. It opened without our permission, it was two guards. I heard Error slightly growl.

Guard: Project-7834EQ is needed for training.

Error: My name is Error.

Error mumbled to himself but I still managed to hear it. I knew he had no choice but to follow them. Although, I wanted to see how they treated him.

My boyfriend stood up and followed the guards. After they left I soon followed. I followed them at a distance. They stopped all of a sudden. One of guards motioned for the other to watch over Error.

Guard: I need a refill on Athenal. Stay right here.

He walked into a room and I followed. I made sure to stay out of both Error's and the guard's sight. When I was in the room with the other guard, I snuck up behind him and wrapped my arm around his neck and mouth. He squirmed for a bit until he stopped. I laid him down and began to take his clothes.

Me: It's okay. I just knocked you out for five hours. I'm just borrowing your clothes for a few minutes.

I apologized to the unconscious man as I hid him in a closet and took his clothes. Once I was fully dressed, I grabbed his gun and walked out. The other guard knew that it wasn't me becase I was shorter than the other.

Me: He asked if we could switch places. He needed to do something really important.

I changed my voice a little bit to somewhat help with my facade. The guard easily took it but Error narrowed his eyes at me. He didn't recognize me but he was suspicious.

I led them to Error's training room before opening the door for them. The room was massive. It was at least five times bigger than the normal training area. The guard told me to follow him. We walked to a metal door that was on the side of the room. I'm assuming it led to the glass cage on top of the wall. That's where all the scientists watched and took notes.

The guard opened the door which showed us an elevator. We stepped in and waited.

Guard: You must be a new recruit?

Me: Uh, o-oh yeah. It's my first day.

I lied to him. The truth is that I have actually worked for Contra my entire life. My rank is just under a general and a scientist. If I wanted to, I could boss around everyone is this building but, I kept my status reputation at a minimum.

Guard: You must pretty good at what you do.

Me: What do you mean?

Guard: Pretty good at stuff like this. Your first day and you're already looking after the Project.

Me: I guess so.

He was right, I was pretty damn good at what I did. Even though it wasn't about looking after Error. Really, I was good at war because of my years of training.

The elevator finally stopped and the doors slid open. I followed the guard into the glass cage. There, I saw my father. I walked up to the window before staring down at Error. He looked like a different person. So much hatred flowed through his eyes. This told me that the Contra people didn't treat him kindly.

Error looked up, his eyes meeting mine. My eyes were covered because of the face helmet that I wore but Error held so much suspicion yet familiarity.

'Does he know it's me?'

I watched as fighters ran into the room. Error didn't make a move. He didn't bother hiding behind anything. He just summoned weapons and waited.

A fight broke out. Error obviously defeated every single one of them. They shot tranquilizers at him but he dodged them.

Father: It evolved. It can now sense where threats are going to be which allows it to avoid their attacks. Impressive.

(Time Skip)

I was in Error's arms on the bed while my eyes were closed. I was fixing to fall asleep but suddenly heard Error speak.

Error: Why were you dressed as a guard?

He didn't mean anything harsh. He was just curious because it was something new.

Me: I wanted to see how they treated you. Not too well, I'm guessing.

Error sighed before kissing me.

Error: They never did but as long as I'm with you, nothing can truly hurt me.

I buried myself into Error's chest.

Error: ...

I love you Ink
