Miraxus: Sugar

“Let's see,” I mumbled, looking around the guildhall. I smiled to myself at my silent scheming. It was my goal to have my “ships” together by the end of the week.

“What are you grinning about, Mirajane?” I jumped when suddenly Laxus appeared in front of me. He leaned across the bar, raising an eyebrow at me.

“Nothing,” I shrugged, quickly turning away from him. I focused my attention on the glass in my hands, and began drying it off.

“I know that look,” he chuckled, “you're planning something, aren't you?”

“Not at all,” I smiled, innocently.

“Uh-huh,” he said. “You forget that we grew up together. You always got that shitty little grim when you were scheming things in your head.”

I huffed at him, and went back to cleaning. Now, how am I going to pull this off? Natsu and Lucy will be easy to talk into it, because they're practically dating anyways. Juvia will be all for it, because she's in love with Gray, but he will need a little convincing. As for Gajeel and Levy... I looked at the two of them, secretly glancing at each other from across the guildhall...they're both too dense to realize they like each other, so they'll need the biggest nudge.

I giggled, looking forward to the work ahead. I enjoyed nothing more than seeing people happy, so I wanted to help them along in their relationships. Which they would have. They just needed a little help from me to get the ball rolling.

“Hey, Lucy, could I talk to you for a moment?” I asked, waving at the blonde.

Smiling, she came over to the bar, “what's up, Mira?”

“I have something special planned for a few of our guild mates, so I was hoping you could relay a small message to them,” I said.

“Sure,” she nodded, “what's the message?”

“I'm going to have a small training exercise for you, Natsu, Gray, Juvia, Levy, and Gajeel,” I told her, sliding a small piece of paper across the bar to her, “and I need all of you to meet me at this location.”

Lucy opened the paper and frowned. “But Mira, this is—“

“I know,” I smiled, “could you please tell them all to meet me there?”

“Yeah, sure,” Lucy said, “though I'm a little confused how that will have anything to do with training.”

“It's a surprise,” I giggled, sending her off with a wink.

“I knew you were scheming something,” Laxus said after Lucy had gone. “I saw the address on the paper. Tell me, what does an amusement park have anything to do with training?”

“I don't know what you're talking about,” I shrugged, propping my elbow on the table and laying my head in my hand. I continued watching the six of them around the guildhall, smiling at all of their different responses to my request.

“You're always so focused on everyone around you,” Laxus commented.

“Is that a bad thing?” I asked, still watching the others.

“It is if you're missing what's standing right in front of you.”

My eyes shot to him, startled, as he got up and left the guildhall. What did he mean by that just now? I felt my face heat up when I thought about what I hoped he had meant by it. I had had a crush on Laxus since we were children, so I would be beyond myself with happiness if he actually liked me in return.

Don't get too excited, Mira, I thought with a dejected sigh, Laxus isn't the type to like someone. He was always so focused on his magic that I was sure he wouldn't have time to even think about liking anyone. “Especially not me,” I mumbled, getting back to work.

~Laxus~

“Mira's certainly going to be in for a surprise,” I chuckled to myself as I walked to the amusement park. She was always coming up with different schemes to get her so-called “ships” together, but she never thought of what she wanted. So, I was going to make her.

“Hey,” I said, walking up beside her. She jumped, obviously not paying any attention.

“L-Laxus?” She asked, looking at me with wide blue eyes. “What are you doing here?”

“I came to see the show,” I smirked.

“This is serious,” Mira told me, putting her hands on her hips.

“This is an amusement park,” I scoffed.

“Yes, but I'm here on a mission,” she said, a twinkle in her eye.

I tsked and crossed my arms. For some reason, it annoyed the hell out of me when she got that look. Probably because she never gets that look when it comes to you, moron. That just made me more annoyed. I wasn't the sappy kind. At all. But, when it came to Mira, I found myself going out of my way to be around her—even blowing off training.

When everyone had arrived, she began spouting off some nonsense about “couple teamwork”, and “seeing how well you worked in teams of two”. She dived them all up—Gray with Juvia, Gajeel with Levy, and Natsu with Lucy—then gave them their tickets.

“What are we supposed to be doing?” Natsu asked.

“You'll figure it out,” Mira smiled, sending them off. After they all left, she looked at me. “I didn't know you were coming, so I didn't get you a ticket,” she said.

I smirked and pulled one from my pocket, “I've got it covered.”

“If you insist on coming with me, then let's go,” she told me, heading for the park. Once inside, she began mumbling to herself about which couple to follow first.

“Why don't you just leave them alone?” I asked. “You got them all here, so that's good enough.”

“I brought them all here so I could help them together,” she said.

“Mira,” I said, putting my hands on her shoulders, “you brought them to an amusement park  and split them up into couples. If they can't take a hint after that, then you can't help them.”

            “But—“

“Come on,” I sighed, grabbing her hand. “You're at an amusement park. You might as well enjoy yourself while you're here.”

            “Laxus, I—“

“What, don't want to spend the day with me?” I asked with a smirk, raising an eyebrow.

“No, I—“ she blushed, looking at our joined hands. “Alright.” She looked up and gave me a breath-taking smile as she nodded. “I suppose I have all day to check in on them.”

            “Good. Let's go.”

~Mirajane~

“KYAA!!” I screamed, wrapping my arms around Laxus as the roller-coaster went down a hill. My hair was flying wildly behind me, and the bow on the front of my dress kept hitting my chin. I giggled when I looked up at Laxus, noticing his wind-blown hair.

“That was so fun!” I exclaimed when we got off the ride.

“Yeah,” he said, looking a little green.

“Are you alright?” I asked, remembering his motion-sickness. “You know, you didn't have to ride that.”

“I know, but I saw the way you kept looking at it,” he told me, mumbling the last part.

I giggled, wrapping both of my arms around one of his muscular ones, “thank you.”

“Yeah, whatever,” he said, not looking at me.

“What do you want to do now?” I asked, smiling up at him. It was almost like Laxus and I were on a date, so I couldn't stop smiling. I had been having so much fun that I almost forgot why I came to the amusement park in the first place. I shouldn't worry, those six will be alright on their own.

“How about some lunch?” He suggested.

“Great idea,” I nodded, following him in the direction of the food court.

“What do you want to eat?”

            “Funnel cake!” I said, immediately.

He chuckled, then went off to buy the funnel cakes while I picked out a table. I gasped when I spotted a certain pink-haired dragon slayer and blonde celestial wizard entering the food court.

            “I got the—“

“Shh!” I whispered, grabbing Laxus's shirt and dragging him to a table behind a small shrub. I pulled him down in the seat next to mine, and peered through a little space in the shrub.

“What are you doing?” He asked.

“Natsu and Lucy are here!” I said, excitedly.

He grunted a little, and began eating his funnel cake. I nibbled on mine as I spied on the two of them through the shrub. Lucy was laughing at whatever Natsu was saying, and they appeared to be having fun.

“They're fine,” Laxus said, putting a finger on my chin and gently moving my head around so I was facing him.

“I was just checking on them,” I pouted, breaking a piece of cake off and putting it in my mouth. “What?” I asked when he chuckled. He pointed down to my chest, smirking. It was covered in powdered sugar. I blushed, quickly brushing the sugar off my dress.

“You make a mess,” he grinned.

“Shut up,” I said, trying to sound angry. Unfortunately, my smile betrayed me.

“What, embarrassed over a little sugar?”

“N-no!” I snapped, meeting his eyes. I found myself staring at him for several seconds, completely forgetting about Natsu and Lucy. Laxus's blonde hair was still messed up from the roller-coaster, and his face was slightly flushed from where he had recovered from his motion-sickness. He was rude, and could be full of himself, but he could also be sweet. Just like today, when he had gone all the way to the amusement just to spend the day with me.

“What's that look about?” Laxus asked.

“Hm?” I shook myself, feeling my cheeks burn. Quit staring, Mira! “O-Oh, nothing. I was just thinking.”

            “About what?”

“Um, well...” What am I supposed to say? “Oh, just how ruggedly handsome you are, and that I'd really like to know what your lips feel like.” The blush crept down my neck. Did I really just think that?!

            “Well...?” He prodded.

I sighed, looking down at my funnel cake. Might as well just get it over with. At least if he leaves now, I'll still have time to follow the others around. “Y-you,” I confessed.

            “What?”

“I was thinking about you,” I said all at once, waiting for him to laugh at me.

When he said nothing, I looked up at him. My eyes grew wide as his lips were suddenly against mine. His hand gently moved to the back of my neck, cupping it softly as he pulled me closer. I closed my eyes and sank into him, not really sure if I was having one of Juvia's crazy day-dreams, or if this was really happening. Either way, I was going to enjoy it.

His lips were sweet from the powdered sugar, and I soon found out the rest of his mouth was as well. I'm not sure how long we sat there, but all too soon, he pulled away.

“W-what was that for?” I asked, breathless.

“You had some sugar on your face,” he smirked.

I smiled, bringing his face back down to mine, “I think you missed some.”
