Chapter 6: Goodbye, Aperture! Goodbye Caroline...

She finally let go after what seemed like an eternity. She was crying, as well. Tears of joy, I assume. I don't know much about tears. I'll admit, that was pretty sad. The only bits of her life she can remember, she was always offended for being adopted. But she wasn't even adopted. And it was her mother!

I had no idea how this was going to work. We had 7 different lives at the house now. We practically have no one square inch of free space. They had one of those moments that lasted, for about five minutes, where they stare into each others eyes.

"Oh, and here's the cube. There is nothing in it this time, trust me."

'Trust me.' Two words that you never want to hear her say. She took the cube anyway. She had her full trust.

"You know what? I don't need Aperture!" She exclaimed.

"Orange, Blue. I'm going to ask a big favor of you two. Do you think you can-"

They nodded their robotic heads in agreement before she could finish. They high-fived and did a little dance.

"This place is old anyways, there really isn't much left of it. Most of the subjects are dead. Besides, I have more things to do. Like tend to my new pets, appreciate my daughter, maybe. I'm just too, well, human."

I couldn't believe what I just heard. Who would give up years of work just because you're human again? I guess she's doing it for Chell.

We got into the escape lift and the bots gave us a wave. Chell waved back with a smile. P-Body nudged Atlas and he jumped, frightened. He quickly ran over to Chell's cube that had been sitting over by the glass box. She quickly took it and held it tightly.

"Goodbye, Aperture." She said, finally, tears swelling her eyes.

"You know, Chell. Have you ever really listened to this song carefully? If not, than do. There's something special about it." A light shade of red spread across GLaDOS' face.

"Oh right, humans can't hear different languages. You can't even speak one. Oh well, I won't offend you with that any more."

I glared daggers into her. i don't think she saw me, though. Doug spoke up.

"It's the opera, you know. It's in a different language. I'm pretty sure she directed it towards you. It says a few things along the lines of 'Oh my darling, oh my beauty, oh my sweet, sweet child. That she esteems.' I don't know, a few things like that. I haven't studied in awhile."

Now her face was flushed with red.

"Studied?! Where-how did you decrypt it?! It was only for me!" She exclaimed.

"My den, of course. You've seen it. I liked to listen to the gentle hum of the practicing turrets as I dozed and are beans. It was my favorite den... No-no it's not like that, buddy, I still like yours. Yours is my favorite." He was looking at the cube he was holding. The superstition.

She tried to change the subject.

"How did come back from space anyways? I thought you would've been on the dark side of the moon by then."

"Two words; Storage Cube that hit me into Earths atmosphere."

"And you're 'space partner'?" She chuckled.

"Let's just say he's 'Earth Partner' now." I 'smiled' and so did Chell.

"Whatever... moron..."

"Really? Do you just want me to say that?" I said.

"Kind of, yeah."

"I!
AM NOT!
A MORON!" I yelled.

I'm pretty sure the bots heard me.

"Happy now?" I panted.

"It's always pretty satisfying to get that out of you."

A/N: Hey guys! I'm probably gonna start doing these more often, by the way. But I wanted to know what GLaDOS' human name should be. If you have any ideas / suggestions, please post them in the comments. And thank you for staying with this book! :D
