I Wish This Were a Dream

Chapter Three.

As the sun rose over the horizon, Freya stretched out her limbs and rolled over to see Killian still sleeping peacefully.
She smiled at the sight, feeling perfectly content.
She decided to utilise one of her Vampire abilities – the ability to get inside a person's head and manipulate thoughts and dreams.
Gently, she touched his temple and closed her eyes, letting the happiest parts of her imagination create something beautiful.

*Dream*

"You'd take the cure for me?" Killian asked, holding his love's hand tightly as they stood on the bow of the Jolly Roger.
"There is nothing I want more than to grow old with you and create a family. I can't do that as a Vampire." Freya had tears in her eyes, showing him how genuine she was about this.
"If that is what you want, love... How could I oppose something that sounds so perfect?" He mumbled, brushing a loose strand of hair from her face with his hook.
"I love you, Killian." The Heretic whispered.
"And I love you, my Stowaway." Killian smiled, moving to press his lips to hers.
Freya looked to her free hand, gazing longingly at the small pill shaped container holding red liquid.
"Here goes everything." She whispered, breaking the container in two.
She raised it up to her lips, taking one last look at Killian through her enhanced vision.
"I'll be here." Killian promised. "I'll never leave your side."
With that, Freya downed the cure to Vampirism in one.
Killian studied her carefully.
"I feel fine..." She frowned, studying the container like she'd done something wrong.
"Are you supposed to feel the same or...?" Killian shared Freya's confused expression.
"I don't know... It's not exactly like many people have taken this cure. There's only one, remember." The Heretic shrugged, then began to feel queasy. "Hold on..."
Killian raised an eyebrow, which quickly turned to a look of shock as Freya fell into him, falling into unconsciousness.

When she awoke, she found herself in the Captain's quarters, Killian sitting beside her.
"Freya." He gasped, clenching the hand he had been holding all that time. "Are you alright, love? How do you feel?"
"I feel..." Freya's voice was croaky as she attempted to find the right word. "Human."
Killian's expression changed from concern to total, unadulterated happiness.
He leaned in immediately, joining his mouth to hers in a kiss like no other.
"Bloody Hell, I love you, Freya." He breathed.
"I love you too, Killi."

Killian stirred, gently opening his eyes.
"Good morning my love." Freya looked down with a soft smile.
"What a sight to behold first thing in the morning." Killian smiled. "I'll never get used to it."
"Did you sleep okay?" The Heretic asked, brushing some hair from his eyes, his bed hair and tired eyes making him look so innocent.
"I just had the most incredible dream." He sighed as he stretched out his limbs.
"Did you now?" Freya smirked.
"You did your mind thing... Didn't you..." Killian glared at her playfully.
"Might've..." Freya shrugged, unable to hide a cheeky smile.
"You're an awful liar, Stowaway." He chuckled, leaning up to kiss her cheek. "It's a wonder how considering your rather large secret."
"I can lie well when it matters." Freya raised an eyebrow.
"That sounds about right." Killian chuckled. "I think we should get up. We have a long day ahead."
"We do..." Freya sighed deeply, throwing the sheets off of herself.

Freya, Killian and Mr Smee vacated the castle immediately after breakfast, making their way into the Enchanted Forest.
"The Queen gave me this hairbrush and map of the forest. She said it belonged to Snow White so it should be pretty easy to put a tracking spell on it." Freya said, placing the map on a nearby rock and the hairbrush on top of that. "Mr Smee, could you go down to the lake's edge and get me a handful of sand?" The First Mate nodded and quickly scurried away. "Killi, do you have that candle in your bag still?"
Killian nodded, reaching into his leather satchel to grab a small white candle, passing it to the Heretic.
"Thanks." Freya mumbled, concentrating on her spell.
Smee had returned within moments and poured the sand into Freya's hand before taking a step back. He and the Captain watched on inquisitively.
"Incendia." Freya whispered, waving her hand over the candle. The wick instantly burst into a small flame before she moved onto the rest of the spell. "Aducte do mi volum ix ti de." She mumbled, sprinkling the sand over the map as she chanted the words.
The three waited a few moments, then all of a sudden, the sand began to move to a particular spot on the map.
"Is that it?" Killian asked.
"That's it. That's where we'll find Snow White." Freya nodded.

The trio had been walking for hours before they reached where the map had told them to go.
"Snow White could be anywhere by now, love. We should stop and redo your spell." Killian sighed, stopping to lean against a tree.
"You're probably right..." Freya huffed, walking over to him to grab the map, hairbrush, candle and sand, which was now in a small vial.
She knelt down on the floor and laid everything out as she had done previously, lit the candle and then cast the locator spell once more.
"That's odd..." The Heretic frowned.
"What is it, m'lady?" Mr Smee asked.
"She hasn't moved... She should be right here."
The Captain looked around the area, with no luck. But just as he was about to go back to his leaning position against the tree, something – or rather someone – crash landed on top of him.
Killian groaned as he picked himself up from the floor.
Freya turned around abruptly, only to see a young woman.
She had long dark brown hair and wore a brown leather and fur waistcoat with a beige undershirt and trousers and black boots.
"Who are you and why are you looking for me?" She asked with a strong, demanding tone.
"Snow White, I presume." Freya raised an eyebrow.
"That's me." She reached for her sword. "Who wants to know?"
"The Queen sends her regards." The Heretic bowed over-dramatically.
Snow's eyes widened slightly before turning to run, but Killian stuck his foot out and tripped her up.
"Sorry, love. With your death, the Enchanted Forest will find peace from Regina and her like." The Captain shrugged.
Freya waved her hand in a half circle, casting a spell in her mind.
"What did you just do?" Snow asked.
"Linked us. Now you can't run away or wonder off without me being twenty feet behind you." The Heretic looked down at her nails nonchalantly, feeling a little proud of herself. Snow, clearly not believing it, made a run for it. Killian looked to Freya as to what to do. "Just wait." She chuckled.
The three of them watched as Snow ran into what seemed like some sort of invisible wall. She fell to the ground with a rather loud thud and an 'ow'.
"Told ya." Freya shrugged, folding her arms across her chest.
"What the Hell kind of magic is that? Who are you people?" Snow stumbled as she got up from the floor.
"I'm Freya. This is Hook and Smee. We've kind of temporarily become bounty hunters. It's a long story. But you're our bounty and it's time to go. So come on." The Heretic sighed, turning to leave the way they had come.
Within just a few steps, Snow felt a dull tug on her entire body. She was forced forward and the four of them began to walk back in the direction of Regina's castle.

"So I've heard the Queen's side of the story. I'm intrigued as to what your's is." Freya said to Snow as the group walked.
"What did she tell you?" Snow asked in a bored tone.
"She said that you were responsible for the death of the love of her life."
Snow huffed a humourless chuckle.
"I won't lie, she's right. When I was ten, she saved my life. She met my father that way and they were due to get married, but she didn't love him. Her mother; Cora set it up. But she was in love with another man. His name was Daniel. They were going to run away together and she told me to promise not to tell anyone, but I believed that if her mother could see just how happy she was with Daniel, she would accept him and let them marry, so I told her. But Cora didn't accept them at all. She ripped Daniel's heart out and crushed it." Snow sighed.
Freya stopped in her tracks.
"That's awful... But it sounds like my bounty should be her mother, not you." She frowned.
"Feel free to try and tell Regina that." Snow rolled her eyes. "Besides, Cora was banished through the Looking Glass to Wonderland."
At this point, nothing surprised Freya anymore. Despite having previously thought the world ended with Vampires, Witches, Werewolves and Hybrids, she had become settled with the knowledge that pretty much every fairytale ever was also true.
"That doesn't sound like much of a punishment." The Heretic thought aloud.
"Even less so when word in the forest is that she's become the Queen of Wonderland." Snow mumbled.
"That doesn't sound fair at all..." Freya's frown only increased and she took a moment to think before casting a spell in her mind as she waved her hand. "You know what? You're free to go. I don't even know why I signed up to this crap in the first place. Hell, I just wanted an adventure – not assisting murder."
Snow simply stared at the Heretic before grinning brightly.
"Thank you so much." She chuckled with slight disbelief, taking a few steps to hug Freya. "I won't forget this. You're welcome to seek me out anytime. Just know that the last person to betray the Queen on my account had his heart crushed. So watch your back."
"I'll make a mental note of that one." Freya giggled. "Now go. Live your life."
As the three watched Snow run off into the forest, Killian approached his love with a warm smile.
"You're a Godsend, Stowaway." He mumbled against her hair.
"Hardly. I just know my rights from wrongs – and what we were doing was wrong." Freya raised an eyebrow.

A few days had past and the crew were packing up at the docks for their next adventure when six guards marched over to the Jolly Roger.
"The Queen wishes to speak with Lady Freya." One of them announced.
"I'm sure she does." Freya sighed, loading a crate of food onto a cart to put on board.
Just then, a puff of violet purple smoke appeared out of nowhere, revealing a furious looking Regina.
"Where's Snow White, Freya?" She growled.
"Have you checked between the couch cushions? You can find all sorts under those stupid things." Freya smirked.
"You'll pay for this betrayal, Witch." The Queen sneered, putting her hand in front of her as she cast a fireball in her palm.
"That's Heretic to you." Freya glared before using her enhanced Vampire speed to move to the nearest guard, rip his helmet off and sink her fangs into his neck simply to set an example.
Everyone in the immediate vicinity watched on in horror as the guard dropped to the floor, a huge bite mark where the majority of his throat used to be whilst Freya finished off the other six guards. Regina attempted to hide her fear, but to no avail.
Freya took a quick second to glance over at Killian, who watched on in what Freya expected to be terror, but was actually more inquisitive.
"Well Heretic. I hope you're on good terms with everyone here, because it'll be the last time you ever see them." Regina spat, a small puff of her purple smoke formed in her hand, revealing a glittery bean.
Before Freya even had time to process what was going on, Regina threw the bean at the Heretic's feet, casting a bright orange portal.
Freya managed one last glance at Killian, who attempted to run to her aid, but before he could grab her, she fell through the portal, disappearing to who knows where.
