Hacker Attack (12)

Unknown Person's Point Of View

I crossed the huge room, hearing the sound of my footsteps on the worn floor of that abandoned warehouse. I looked through the glass window, dirty due to lack of care, there was almost no movement outside. The time wasn't suitable to have a lot of people on the street. I looked at my watch for the fourth time in less than 20 minutes, the watch hands seemed to move slower than normal, or maybe it was just the anxiety of the moment. It was already past 2AM, when the light of a car headlight caught my attention. The more than familiar car parked right in front of the warehouse's side door. The car headlights turned off, making the black car almost get lost amid the darkness of the night. I turned away from the window and walked towards one of the tables that were there, serving myself a good amount of whisky from a beautiful and refined bottle. I added some ice cubes to the glass, along with the alcohol that was already there. I swung the liquid from one side to the other, before lifting the glass up to my lips, taking a big sip, which made my throat warm.

-Sorry I'm late, I had to pick up someone. – the person said, opening the door and entering the room.

I lowered the glass on the table, and faced the person with a confused and apprehensive expression.

-Someone? What are you talking about?

-Calm down, I'll explain.

-You better. – I turned around, looking for a place to sit.

I heard a heavy sigh and slow steps, informing me that the person was approaching. I sat on the padded armchair, to relax my body and keep calm.

-Well... You know that last time we tried, we didn't have much success, remember?

I brought the glass of Whiskey up to my lips again, which soon were wet by the strong scented alcohol. Only one sip.

-Yes.

-Because of that, I thought that we would need someone else to help us. And I took care of looking for someone trustworthy that would join us. And well, I found that person.

-I can't believe you did that. – I huffed in irritation.

-It was the best choice.

-You should've asked me! How could you make a decision without me?

-It was our best solution.

-Whatever, you could have said something before taking action.

-You wouldn't accept it. – the person exclaimed a little louder.

-Obviously I wouldn't, it's dangerous!

-And you want to stay stuck? You saw that the last time was a failure. We got into the system, but the financial sector was blocked.

-We could've solved that. With time and working together. – I let out impatiently.

I got up from the armchair, walking towards the glass window again. I took a deep breath, trying to keep calm to not explode in that moment. Hacking Collins' system and having that money was a matter of honor, and I couldn't let anything, absolutely anything go wrong. But putting another person in the scheme wasn't in my plans, never was.

-I solved that for us. The solution is perfect, and totally reliable. 100% safe.

-How can I be sure? – I asked when I turned around, staring at those fearful eyes.

I saw the person's chest rise and fall in a heavy breathing, as if giving their best to maintain their decision firm.

-I give you my word. – the person's voice tone came out as confident as possible.

We stood in silence for a few seconds, as if we were sealing a new deal. I sighed heavily, but accepted with a brief nod.

-Tell the person to come in.

I saw a victorious smile born in the person's lips. I shook my head as the person's steps went towards the door, which was opened slowly.

-Well, I present you our bishop.

My eyes narrowed towards that other person who analyzed me thoroughly. For a split second I felt that insecurity take over, having a new piece in that game wasn't as simple as it seemed. The caution would now be redoubled.

-Bishop?

-I believe it's an important piece. And what we need. Don't they say that the bishop is a somewhat fast piece? That if it has a clear path it can have a good advantage? – the familiar person asked while serving some Whiskey.

-Yes, of course. – I said without taking my eyes off our new piece.

-And you can relax. The bishop doesn't jump over the other pieces, and it only follows the sequence of squares of the same color. Our color. – the familiar person completed to then take a sip of alcohol – I'm the tower, and I got you a bishop.

-You confirm that? – I asked the "bishop".

-Yes. I know that I don't have your trust yet, but I will soon. I'll help in the king's overthrow.

-You really don't. But I think our situation it's pretty clear. I usually have an immense generosity with who really is on my side, unlike Collins. But I have something in common with him. – I spoke calmly, as I approached the bishop.

-What?

-I know how to solve problems that seem dangerous to me. And I guarantee that it's not in a gentle way. – I let out every word with exact precision.

-I know that very well, I was told everything before accepting all this. – the person said before swallowing hard – I will not disappoint.

-Perfect. This is my welcome.

-You could have been nicer. – the "tower" spoke while sitting on the chair in front of the table – You know that, right?

-In my position, being nice isn't something good. I've been too much already...

The tower's eyes rolled in pure boredom, before inviting the bishop to sit down.

-Now let's talk about work. I think you'll change your mind when you know everything that we can do together.

-I already know very well.

-You do?

-Yes, and I have to congratulate you for it.

-Well, thank me when we get all the money that that piece of shit has.

-Let's get to work, we have a long night ahead. – I said as I opened the laptop.

-----

I walked from one side to the other nonstop, that damn feeling of anxiety was consuming me. We've been in front on those computers for more than an hour and a half. The process of entering the system was much more complicated than last time. The numbers and letters sequences seemed endless, they ran on the laptop screen used by the bishop. I took a deep breath and tried to concentrate. The room was dimly lit by a yellowish lamp in the back, the light from the computers' screen kept our attention trapped, as it gave us a good dose of tension and anxiety if something there went wrong.

-Done! We have to act fast! Let's go! – I heard the bishop speak with the attention focused on the last generation laptop screen.

-Did you get it? – I asked with certain nervousness.

-I think so. But we need the key, so that the system doesn't identify the foreign body. Hurry! The system froze.

-Leave it to me, now it's my turn.

We were in a triple connection, each device had a job to do. The bishop opened the way for me to enter the system freely and withdraw what I wanted. The tower just waited for the amount, which would be sent to an account abroad. I started typing the numerical sequence in an out of the ordinary speed, as my eyes ran through the numbers that appeared on the luminous screen.

-We don't have much time. The system is paralyzed.

I heard that voice in the back, as if I were several meters away.

-I'm almost there... – I said without stop typing the numbers that would give me all the access.

I could hear the beating of my heart, strong and frantic. In that moment, all my concentration was there. I typed the last number and clicked on the little button on the left, when a new window opened on the screen, showing the following sentence "Access to the Financial System granted". A smile escaped my lips, drawing the tower's attention, who approached quickly.

-I hope that that smile is a good thing.

-Keep focus, I'll transfer the amount. – I said.

The adrenaline that ran through my veins in that moment provided me an almost indescribable pleasure. The frenzy of making that moment happen was taking over me. The numbers of Collins Enterprise's account were there, right in front of me shining.

-Oh, Christopher, you have no idea who you messed with. – I whispered as I typed the amount I wanted.

-A little faster, the time will end.

-You'll pay for what you did.

I confirmed the transfer, seeing the small stripe being filled quickly, and consequently a message box with the following sentence "Transfer complete".

-Done, we've moved some squares. Soon I'll get to the king.

Lauren Jauregui's Point Of View

A bloody noise disturbed my sleep. I shifted on the bed amid the soft sheets, putting two pillows over my head, in an attempt to make the noise stop, but it was in vain. I opened my eyes with certain difficulty, feeling my eyelids heavier than normal. The few hours of sleep in Camila's house were now being recovered, or at least I was trying to do that. The noise came back again, and only now I realized that it was my phone, which was ringing insistently on my nightstand. I reached out, groping the fine wood table, trying to find my phone. I grabbed the device, bringing it to my ear.

-Hello? – I let out sleepily and irritated.

-Lauren... – I heard Vero's voice sound low and fearful.

-I hope you have a good reason to call me at this hour. – I muttered.

-I need you to come to the precinct now.

-Why? My shift starts at 7AM.

-Lauren, please. Come here, I need you to.

The way Vero was speaking started to scare me. I sat on the bed, and gave my best friend all my attention.

-What happened? – I asked apprehensively.

-Collins... It was robbed again.

Those words took me completely by surprise, as if I had received a strong punch in the stomach. I think it took me a few minutes to process that so disastrous information. Robbed, again.

-Veronica Iglesias, you sure about that?

-Yes, now come here.

-----

I didn't take not even half an hour, and my car was already entering the parking lot of the New York police station. Maybe I had drove through absolutely all the traffic lights, but just maybe. I got out of the vehicle, walking in quick steps into the building. It was almost dawn, but the station was still with a small number of employees of the night shift. I ran across the long hall, entering the first available elevator. That damn thing seemed to move in a fucking slow way. As soon as the metal doors opened, I walked in long strides to my office, coming across Iglesias' worried expression, she was pale and tense.

-What time did it happen? – I asked still panting due to my running.

-I don't know. – she murmured.

-What do you mean you don't know?

She gestured with her hands, without letting any word leave her lips. Her nervousness and anxiety were noticeable by miles away.

-Lauren, the FBI system froze, there was no alarm sound.

I frowned and stared at nothing.

-Vero, were you keeping an eye on the system?

-No...

That simple word made a weight fall on my back.

-What were you doing here?

-I was here in the room, but got distracted. The police officer from the downstairs sector came to talk and we ended up...

-Oh my God, I can't believe this! – I exclaimed angrily.

-I'm sorry!

-You are sorry? You fucked everything! – I shouted.

I couldn't believe what was happening. I walked over to the computer on which the FBI system was installed, seeing the program's window paralyzed, with capital letters saying "ALERT". Two hours ago. Two fucking hours ago.

-Shit, shit! Call Ally and Normani! Where are they?

-It's their day off, tonight the night shift was mine. – she said in a quavering voice.

-Call them now!

Iglesias left the room quickly, making the glass door slam shut. I sat on the chair, staring at the completely frozen computer screen. The alert sign was there, but Vero wasn't attentive enough to identify it at the time. I had no idea how much had been stolen, but certainly wouldn't have been a little. Whoever was stealing, they were a step ahead. I put my arms on the desk, lowering my head. I felt that pressure take over my body and mind.

-They are on the way. – I heard Vero speak, looking at me afraid.

-This will be fucking hell. How could you be so irresponsible?!

-It was a slip-up!

-A damn slip-up that will cost our career in this shit! You were fucking someone here, right?

She didn't answer.

-My God, I know you so well! – I exclaimed as I got up – Do you have any idea of what will happen?

-We'll figure something out! What else could I do? The system froze!

-If you had seen right away, everything could be different! Goddammit.

I felt my blood boil, with anger and hatred. I couldn't believe that, all this work down the drain.

-There's no use in staying like that, we have to solve this. – Vero spoke exalted.

I didn't say anything, just walked away from her. My head was bubbling with a multitude of ideas and problems that soon would come to the surface. I was lost. Minutes later I heard the sound of the door opening, then Normani and Ally entered the room with frightened expressions.

-We came as soon as possible. – I heard Mani's voice.

I didn't even turn to face them, I was still too stunned for all that. Normani sat on the chair I was a few minutes ago, and Ally pulled another to sit beside her.

-The system is blocked. – Ally exclaimed.

-We can call the central, ask for the universal access key. Since this one went down the drain.

-Do that, Veronica. – my voice tone came out sharp, and Vero just nodded before leaving.

-I wanted to stay here today, but Vero said it wasn't necessary. – Normani spoke nervously.

-You should've stayed. I didn't know that the two of you had the day off today. Since when do you have clearance from these shifts, Allyson?

The blonde looked at me quickly and breathed calmly.

-I had to leave, I had to take care of some things.

-And you, Normani?

-It's my day off, I stayed here for the last 4 night shifts.

-Whoever hacked this, is very good. – Ally said.

-I want you to get in and see all the transactions made, I want to know the amount and to where it was transferred.

I walked from one side to the other, while the two women seemed focused on the machine in front of them. I was a mile a minute. Vero entered the room with the paperwork in hand, the FBI access codes were there, I believed. Within minutes, Normani and Ally managed to obtain a positive signal from the system, the frozen image had been undone, and only now we could try to get some information.

-Finally! – Normani said hopefully – The alert sign went off two and a half hours ago. But from the looks of it, the sector that identifies to where the amount was transferred was totally blocked.

-We can't see to where the damn money went? – I asked altered.

Ally looked at me and shook her head slowly.

-How much are we talking about?

-5 million dollars. – the blonde continued.

-My God! This can't be happening.

-Wait, I'm being able to see from where the theft was done, and what type of device. The map will give me the right address. – Normani said as she typed something on the keyboard.

-How can someone freeze the FBI system? Shouldn't that be impossible?!

-Lauren, sometimes small gaps can be identified in these systems. Anyone who has the knowledge can. Although it's a very delicate and hard work.

-They'll want our heads.

-Agent, if you want, I'll take the blame for the irresponsibility. – Vero spoke in a serious tone.

-There's no use, Veronica! Nothing will change this. I'm in charge of this case, the blame will fall on me!

-Together we'll solve this. – Ally let out calmly.

I shook my head, looking away from Vero. I was disappointed, angry and sad.

-There you go, girls. The place is away from the city, it's not public. By the images, it looks like a warehouse, look.

The woman turned the computer screen so that we all could see the image taken by the satellite. It was a place full of warehouses. Maybe it was a place of factories, or something like that. I analyzed the image thoroughly.

-I'm going there. Meanwhile, try to unravel everything that's possible. I'll send information at all times.

-Do you want me to go with you? – Vero asked, as I prepared myself.

-No, stay.

-You better go accompanied. – Ally said.

I swallowed hard, exchanging a quick glance with the blonde who was staring at me. I just nodded, and left that room. I didn't want to be around Veronica now, I still blamed her for everything that was happening. Not as if she had stolen, but as if she had been irresponsible enough to let that happen. I left the precinct, walking towards my car. I just wish I could change that whole situation, to be able to have a damn clue of who was doing all that damage. I got into the vehicle, accommodating myself in the driver's seat, while putting my gun in the underarm holster.

-I'm ready. – Vero spoke as she opened the car door and joined me.

I didn't answer, just turned the key in the car ignition, making the engine roar. The whole drive was made in pure silence, except for the few words exchanged with Ally and Normani by radio.

-Normani is telling me that there's a connection signal in that warehouse. The system is seeing an available access point, but from what I researched, the place is completely abandoned. – I heard Ally inform by radio.

I moved one of my hands from the steering wheel to press the small radio button.

-Maybe the intruder is still there.

-That's what we thought. So hurry up.

-Alright, anything, call me.

I stepped on the gas pedal, driving almost 160k/h. Vero stayed silent until we reached the destination. We entered a more deserted area of the city, I had never been in these parts. I guided myself by the car GPS, which indicated the right path to the location given by Normani. I slowed the car, to analyze thoroughly the place where I was entering. The set of warehouses was a little farther away from the periphery, the place was completely abandoned.

-I think it's the one right there, Lauren.

Vero pointed to the penultimate warehouse, very similar to the image we saw at the station.

-Yeah. – I exchanged the first word with her after the whole drive.

I stopped the car right in front of the building, as close as possible.

-Let's go in.

My best friend nodded, as she prepared herself. I removed my gun from the holster, checking if it was loaded and in perfect condition, in case it was needed. Vero did the same, to only then leave the car. I grabbed the radio and got out, joining her.

-Let's go through the side, I saw a smaller door. – the woman said.

I walked behind Vero who approached the rusty iron door, luckily it was open. The noise of the door made me cuss lowly, but sighed in relief once we got inside. I drew my gun and saw Vero do the same. The warehouse was a kind of an abandoned factory, all the machinery was still there, covered in dust and cobwebs. The scenario could be macabre if not for the clarity that invaded the place through the broken glass windows. There was absolutely no one there, except for the presence of the pigeons that were there.

-It stinks in here. – Vero whispered right behind me – It's the damn pigeons fault.

-I know, but keep your eyes open, and forget the damn pigeons.

We walked slowly between the machines, looking for something. Everything there seemed old and not working. I even thought that we were in the wrong place, but continued to look at everything. I held the gun with more precision as I crossed the warehouse, going towards a corroded iron staircase. There were two doors upstairs, which I thought to be the old office. As I climbed the stairs, I heard a noise coming from the upper room, I exchanged a quick glance with Veronica, gesturing for her to keep her eyes open. The woman nodded and raised her black gun to cover my back. I took a deep breath, and in slow steps walked to the door, inching my ear closer in an attempt to hear something. I heard a small noise, when I got startled with Vero's scream.

-Son of a bitch! – the woman exclaimed – The pigeon pooped on me.

-Dammit. Shut up.

I pushed the door with my shoulder quickly, and pointed the gun inside the room. Empty. I closed my eyes and tried to calm my breathing.

-You can only be kidding me today. – I said when Vero entered the room.

-I'm sorry, it was a reflex. It wasn't my fault.

-Have you thought if someone was here? We'd be dead now, because you screamed like a pigeon. – the words came out ironically and angrily from my mouth.

-I freaked out, I'm sorry. But there isn't anyone here. – the woman said as she removed her dirty jacket – Yuck.

I walked away from the woman and stepped inside the large room. Unlike the rest of the factory, that room seemed much more cared for and clean. It was clear that it had been used. Normani was right, actually, the system was. I grabbed the radio from my pocket and brought it close to my mouth.

-Agent Kordei, do you copy?

-Yes, I'm here. – the radio sound came out low.

-See in the locator if we are at the address that was given by the system.

-It's that one. Did you find anyone?

In the room there was a small leather couch, a dresser and only one desk with one chair.

-No, it's all empty... but we are in some kind of office now. Apparently it was used recently.

-I still see the access point present in that place. – the voice came out of the radio.

Vero began opening the cabinets looking for some evidence. I approached the desk and sat on the chair. And to think that a few hours ago the person who robbed Collins was here, it made my blood boil. I looked at the side of the desk, seeing two small drawers. I pulled them quickly, but they were locked.

-I can open it, do you have a clip or a staple? – Vero asked as she approached.

I got up from the chair and grabbed my gun. I aimed at the lock of the drawer and shot.

-Or you can blow it up... – Vero spoke as she walked away.

I opened the thick wooden drawer, and removed all the objects that were inside. Keys, a staple remover, papers and pens, nothing really useful. I put my hand back on the drawer, feeling the bottom unstable. I frowned, lowering myself to its height. I groped with my hand over the plywood bottom, noticing that there was something wrong.

-Dammit! – I exclaimed angrily.

I put the staple remover in the small gap that the drawer offered, forcing with the small iron object until removing the damned bottom.

-Iglesias!

-Oh my God! – my best friend exclaimed joyfully.

-Agent Kordei, we just found a laptop. – I informed by radio.

-That's wonderful! Bring it, please. We'll analyze everything.

-I'll bring it. Jauregui out.

I put the radio in my jacket's pocket and grabbed the silver laptop from the drawer. I opened the thin screen, but didn't turn on the device.

-Let's go.

-Yes, I need a shower.

I closed the screen and carried the laptop out of that room. We left a lot faster now that we already knew the way out of the abandoned warehouse. I got into my car, and Vero did the same. I handed her the device, and she placed it on her legs. I started the car, taking one last look around the place before leaving. Amidst that chaos a shred of relief made itself present with that laptop, despite not knowing if it possessed some really usable information. The drive was made in silence again, letting my thoughts wander to what I'd have to do to fix this mess, and to what I'd probably hear from Brandon and Collins today. It wouldn't be an easy day, maybe it had already ended as soon as I heard the information coming from Iglesias, but I'd have to turn the tables.

Camila Collins' Point Of View

I woke up with Christopher's angry shouts on the phone, the man seemed nervous and extremely angry. I grabbed the soft pillow, putting it over my head to muffle the noise that he was doing, while he just walked from one side to the other, glued to his phone.

-I can't believe that this happened again! Shit! Handle things, John.

I didn't dare intrude, I'd wait for him to finish the call to only then ask what had happened to leave him so angry.

-This will not stay like this. I'll go right now to the police station to talk to Brandon, that damn Agent isn't doing anything! That fucking bitch!

I heard something that was referring to Lauren, which made me open my eyes quickly. I sat on the soft bed, rubbing my eyes with my fingers in an attempt to wake up faster. My husband was shaking his head, his worried countenance made me wonder what had happened.

-I know! Take care of everything, I'll get dressed to go to the precinct. – those were his last words to John, before ending the call.

-What happened?

The man looked at me with a cold stare, making my body shiver.

-We were robbed again.

-Oh, God! When? And how much?

-Today, they took 5 million dollars! Shit. – Christopher exclaimed as he hit his hand on the concrete wall.

I got up from the bed quickly, approaching him. His breathing was heavy, in pure hatred.

-Do they have any information about who did it?

-Probably not. It's that damn beginner's fault. She's not solving the fucking problem.

He practically spat the words, making me feel incredibly bothered for referring to Lauren in such a rude way.

-She couldn't do anything.

-She could've solved this before?! She could've found the damn bastard who's doing this and killed him!

-It's not as easy as it sounds, Christopher.

He frowned at me and walked away.

-You are going to defend that little incompetent?

-I just think that you are being rash in talking like that. You know that the investigation process is not easy.

I heard a loud and sarcastic laugh.

-You are starting to become friends with your private security and you think that way, Camila. Stop being an idiot. She's not fit to solve the case. She's an incompetent and she's dumb.

-Then why don't you solve it alone? – I exclaimed louder.

We stared at each other for a few seconds, which made me notice how full of hate he was. His eyes fixed on me, as his jaw was clenched.

-I sure as hell would have a better result. But unfortunately I have to let that incompetent solve the case.

-You...

He didn't let me complete, just walked to the bathroom connected to our bedroom. Some good minutes later we were fully ready. I told him that I wouldn't give up going to the police station to be present in the conversation he wanted to have with Brandon and Lauren. The drive to the precinct was filled with silence, we didn't exchange a single word, I was still angry because of his rudeness earlier, and I wouldn't change my mind so soon. The luxury car stopped in front of the building, and soon Carlos opened the door for us to get out.

-Welcome. – an officer said when we entered the police station.

Christopher didn't even answer, just walked towards Brandon's office. We entered the office, coming across the man with an apprehensive and worried expression. Brandon feared Christopher.

-Mr. Collins.

The officer who guided us to the office quickly left, leaving us alone.

-I really hope that you solve this, Brandon. Because I was robbed once again! – he shouted.

-We can't control that. We are just going after who's doing this and trying to make them stop.

-When? When that bastard takes all my money?

-That will not happen, Christopher.

-By the pace of things, I don't think it will take much! You put the most incompetent of agents in my case.

-I put the best, don't be unfair.

-Unfair? They took 5 million dollars! Do you have any idea how much that is? I bet you don't, you'll work your entire filthy little life in this station and you will not earn that.

-Chris... – I said.

-Don't alter your voice tone in my precinct. – Brandon took over a firm posture.

Christopher sighed heavily, and shook his head, walking away from the desk where Brandon was. It didn't take long, and my eyes froze on the person who entered the room. Lauren. Our eyes met for a split second, which was soon broken.

-Look who just arrived... – my husband said.

Lauren swallowed hard, and remained with the same posture. Her expression was frustrated, angry even. I knew that if Christopher was like that, Lauren could be much worse, since the case was in her hands.

-Tell me that you got some information, Agent. – Brandon spoke as he got up from the chair.

-Until the moment no, sir. But we are investigating some things that we got...

Christopher's sarcastic laugh flooded the environment.

-You see what I'm talking about? – he asked, pointing to Lauren – She won't solve anything!

-I'm in the process of investigation, Mr. Collins. – Lauren spoke.

-Can't you be faster? My fortune is being taken wholly! Hell!

-I believe that this process is time consuming. – my eyes met Lauren's again.

-I won't be understandable when the money I earned with so much effort is being stolen, because of the incompetence of an agent.

-Collins.

-No, Camila. I'm speaking the truth!

The man approached Lauren, stopping right in front of her. The two stared at each other, without  lowering their guard. Lauren didn't dare say anything, but she also didn't lower her head and much less undid her firm posture before my husband.

-You are doing a terrible job, and you are causing me the loss of a lot of money. If you want to be one of the best agents, you better train a little more.

Lauren was with her fists closed, forcing her fingers that looked more white than normal. Perhaps in an attempt to control the anger she was feeling.

-Yes, sir.

-Go back to your office, Lauren. Continue with the process, I'll talk to Mr. Collins. – Brandon finally spoke.

Lauren Jauregui's Point Of View

I felt my whole body shaking, but not of nervousness, and much less fear. It could all be summed up to anger. Anger at Vero's slip-up, anger at the lack of evidence, anger at Christopher Collins. During my whole career, nothing like that had ever happened. The businessman who thought he was the master of the world, threw his words of contempt against me in such a rude and humiliating way. But like the good agent I am, I didn't dare to show what I was feeling, instead I'd just act. I closed the Commissioner's office door, stopping right in front of it.

-I'll travel for 2 days, when I come back I want you to have solved something. Understood, Brandon? – I heard Collins deep voice sound angry inside the office.

I walked in slow steps down the corridor, thinking about the thousand things that I could do to return all of Christopher's rudeness from minutes ago. But nothing was enough, not to return in a glorious way what he had caused me now. I grabbed a small plastic cup from the holder, filling it with water from the water machine at the end of the corridor, when finally, I had the sight of Brandon coming out of his office, next to Christopher. The two entered the room that was in front, probably looking for some document. My thoughts moved to Camila, who surprisingly still tried to smooth the things in my favor. I smiled weakly, when a snap of ideas made itself present. I went back in quick steps, checking through the glass if the two men were already coming back. When I thought about entering Brandon's office, Christopher showed up in the corridor and, consequently, Camila left the Commissioner's office. I received a superior look from the businessman, who made me want to grab my gun and kill him right there. Instead, I just stared at him. The man walked towards the exit, and Camila followed him. I took some steps forward and held the brunette's arm, letting her husband follow ahead next to Brandon.

-Camila. – I whispered

The brown-eyed Latina stared at me confused, but she didn't stop me. She glanced quickly to where Christopher was and then looked back at me.

-I want to see you today.

-What? – the brunette frowned, and inched closer.

-We need to talk.

She sighed and nodded.

-Come to my house today, Christopher will travel.

-Okay, you can expect me.

Camila smiled weakly and nodded. I released her arm slowly, seeing the so beautiful brunette walking towards the exit.

-I'll return this humiliation in the best way, Christopher.

NOTE: Lauren is furious... Christopher better watch out. When Evelin updates, I'll translate and post it.
