Can Sing ✔
The final round of the selection was made for Willow. Damarion was excited for the world to see how talented his girlfriend and future wife was. Last few girls left already had an idea that Damarion was biased but some really hopeful ones believed that they could still get in thanks to the Queen and her open disapproval.
Queen was furious as she lost her only card of destroying Willow's chances and now the only thing she had to do was put the final judge that is the King against Willow.
"Your father hates me," Willow said pacing inside the green room dressed quiet opposite how she should have.
Her long legs were clad in black jeans and she wore a checkered hoodie over it.
It said it calmed her nerves and Damarion couldn't help but feel amused.
"You are doing what you are best at Willow, just calm down. And my father is a rational man." Damarion tried to motivate her.
But it was not working instead she completely ignored her as tried to keep tremble away from her voice. Even her own mother kept out of her way may be well aware how Willow got in such state.
The round started and Damarion being the Prince had to be on the judge panel. While he will vote yes for Willow and his mother will vote a no, his father's decision will matter.
Unfortunately, his sister was not on the panel since she had a job interview to attend.
The singing started but Damarion was a nervous wreck himself to tolerate all this. Out of six girls, Willow was performing fifth.
"You really love her don't you." King surprised him by whispering the question.
Damarion nodded slowly not sure how to play in this situation.
"Your mother doesn't like her though."
"Do you?" Damarion asked the important question.
"I respect her. But her family background and she lived a life without a father who ran away. Doesn't reflect well on her personality." King said soberly.
"Does it reflect well on the personality of that princess there caught for shoplifting or on that princess that considers other below and known for her harsh behaviour to her servants." Damarion defended Willow.
King just smiled at his words, an intelligent smile with meaning behind it.
Willow's turn came and she just stared at the audience for a while.
Damarion gave her a thumb up and she nodded looking really pale with nervousness.
Then she sat down with her guitar and a plaintive melody filled the hall. It was soothing and beautiful. Damarion noticed that she closed her eyes and started singing. Her angelic sweet voice spread through the hall and he realised that she had everyone mesmerised.
As she kept singing, everyone couldn't help but stare even the other competitors.
It was simply beautiful and a song Willow wrote herself.
When the song ended, Damarion saw his father subtly wipe off a tear from his eyes and he knew he won the girl he loved.
Had it not been for the King, all the hard work would have gone waste and they would have lost.
