Chapter 10: We Live Such Fragile Lives (WIP)
Chat Noir/ Adrien's POV:
"And you said I couldn't catch any fish," Y/N said, poking a salmon with a stick that was currently roasting over the fire. I smiled at her and saw the night was starting to rise up against the dusk sunlight. I yawned, stretching my arms.
"You sure showed me," I purred, leaning back against my rock. Y/N rolled her eyes, and I could catch a stifled snicker. She turned back to the roasting salmon.
"Think you'll be up and ready to go again tomorrow?" She called back to me. I flicked my tail.
"Not sure.. We'll just have to see what I fee like tomorrow," I said, the pain of the scratches on my back resurfacing. I bit the inside of my bottom lip. Yeah, we'll see...
"Ok, and if you're not, we can wait one more day," Y/N said kindly. My heart became warm and it started to ache with how much love I had for her. Wait, what am I thinking...!? Ladybug- my thoughts stopped there. My ears twitched. Ladybug never really had feelings for me. I guess... Hopefully... I can be something with Y/N.
"Chat...! Chat Noir!"
I stared, my hands feeling numb and starting to shake. Evil laughter surrounded me. My eyes grew wider as I saw black and purple painted butterflies circling and spiraling down towards me. I tried to pull away from their continuous and constant fluttering, but every move I made, chains sprouted out of the ground and grappled on to me, pulling me to he floor. I tried to stand, but the chains pulled me down again and again.
"Damn it!" I hissed under my breath. I glanced back up at the butterflies. They now were swarming around me, a storm of anger stung my ears. I cried out on the storm, sitting on my knees with my arms in front of my face.
Then I looked up through my arms and saw that the butterflies had turned to ravens. They swooped in, claws extended, cutting my arms and back. I screamed out in anger and worry.
I swung my arms around, slapping ravens out of the sky. But it only made things worse... The ravens started ganging up and slamming me in the back of the neck and head.
I jolted awake, sweat running down from my forehead. I took in deep breaths and let them out, seeing a clear, blue and purple sky above me. I sat up and looked at Y/N. She was sleeping by the now smoldering fire.
I smiled a little, raising an arm and wiping my forehead. I glanced back up at the sky and saw that it was dawn. I'm feeling better... We should start going again, I thought, standing.
I stretched and even though I felt sore, I didn't feel any sharp pains or anything. I flicked my eyes around and saw nothing but the forest and the pool of water and stream glimmering with dew in the early morning light.
I paced forward toward Y/N and crouched next to her, stiffly. "Y/N..?" I whispered. "Chatton?" Y/N sighed and groaned a little before stretching.
"Chat..?" She whispered, rolling over on her back, blinking at me sleepily. A memory of Ladybug flashed in my eyes and I felt a cold shiver twinge up my spine. I shook my head lightly.
"I'm feeling better," I said, looking away a little, "we should start getting back to our search." Y/N sat up and rubbed her eyes, nodding.
"Alright," she said. "Let me get somethings done and we can go."
12:00 pm, Y/N's POV
"You're sure hat you're ok?" I asked, blinking at Chat. He nodded.
"Don't worry, Kitten," he said, smiling. "I'm fine." We were still in the forest, walking over tree roots, rocks and trampling the grass as we went. Chat grabbed his staff and turned on his GPS again. A little red dot blinked on the other side of a mountain. I bit my lip, my feet starting to feel sore.
"This is gonna take too long," Chat said, stopping. "Let's go just a little faster, m'kay?"
My heart sank at the thought of running. "Running?" I asked timidly.
"Nope," Chat smiled and took a hold of me, his arm wrapped around my chest. "We're gonna fly there." He extended his staff and we were suddenly in the cool, refreshing breeze above the trees.
