Annabelle and Gabriella were taking for-EVER! I knew I was the second stop, but this was slow. For all I knew Annabelle had made them walk. Suddenly, my iPhone lit up with a text. It was from Annabelle.

Annabelle 10:17 P.M.

Gabriella is driving. Be scared. Are on our way.

It was very vague, but I knew that they must have a car, which gave me a bit of a shock. We were thirteen, and certainly not legal drivers! Not wanting to argue with Gabriella, I just texted back, "Okay."

I shifted my weight from foot to foot in my driveway, shivering a bit. It was cold outside. I hoped someone had brought a jacket. Suddenly, a pair of headlights showed up from down the street as they turned, a bit messily, into our housing complex. I saw Gabriella smile and reach to beep the horn, but Annabelle grabbed her arm and started yelling at her. I giggled. They were always arguing over something, but they were still the best of friends.

I hurried down the driveway and threw open the back door. I dove inside and closed it behind me with a triumphant slam. When I came in, Gabriella and Annabelle were still arguing over the horn.

"It would have been fine!" Gabriella huffed and crossed her arms.

"No, it would have woken the neighbors up!" Annabelle yelled at her.

"Um, hi?" I murmured, sticking my head in the middle of their conversation.

"Hey!" Annabelle and Gabriella squealed happily in unison.

"Why in the WORLD did you get a car?" I raged, and Annabelle subtly smirked, knowing I was on her side.

"Why not?" Gabriella held up her sisters drivers license, fixed her hair and smiled. She looked just like her. They could've been twins.

"Oh. Okay then," I shrugged, giving Annabelle a "seems legit" look. She growled and gripped the assist handle even tighter. I bucked up, already nervous by the way that Annabelle was cringing with her eyes closed. "Fasten your seatbelts, because it's gonna be a bumpy night." Gabriella beamed and put the car in drive. I recognized the quote from some fifties movie my grandparents used to watch. Something about Eve? All About Eve, that's what it was. I guess Annabelle's grandparents had watched it sometime in the past too, because she started cracking up. Then, just like that, we were three thirteen year olds driving a car down the road into the distance, with only one goal. To have fun, and be back before sunrise.
