Annabelle was totally spaced out, as she often did sometimes when she had something that was taking over her mind and she just wanted to think about. Sometimes she did it in the middle of a conversation, which was annoying, but at least we knew that she was always thinking and analyzing everything.
I looked down at the screen at Cam's message. I didn't want to open it just yet. It read:
Cam 12:26 A.M.
Annabelle,
I feel like I've known you my whole life. Do you feel that too?
Looking over at Annabelle, I didn't have the heart to respond for her. I just layed her phone back in her lap, which of course she didn't notice. I let her sit for another minute, then I tried asking again what the message said.
"Annabelle," I tapped her leg, trying to get her out of her little spacey trance. Annabelle shook her head, as if she was trying to shake whatever was going on in her head off.
"What?" Annabelle answered.
"What did that message say?" I tried, hopeful that she would give me a real answer this time.
"None of your business!" She retorted.
"Well..." I let my sentence drift off, figuring it was probably not the time to tell her that I had already read it.
"Well what?" Annabelle snapped.
"Imighthavealreadyreadit," I said super fast in the hopes that she couldn't understand me.
"You already read it?!?!" Apparently Annabelle understands me when I talk super fast.
"Hey Space Cadet, it's your fault for not paying attention!" I tried to defend myself.
"Well if you already read it, then what do I say?" Annabelle crossed her arms and got this smug look on her face, and I knew it was a trap.
"I don't know, yes?" I decided to play it safe on my answer.
"Ha, wrong!" She laughed and opened up the message as her thumbs danced on the screen.
"What are you typing?" I asked.
"You've proven yourself unworthy." Annabelle smirked and raised her eyebrow. I just laughed and let it go, which actually felt good for once.
