Mack
Gabriella and I stood with our backs pressed flat against the light-brown walls with red accents. I listened to Cam tell Annabelle his version of the whole story, and wanted to cry. I never realized that he didn't want to stop being friends. I just let the anger get the best of me. We watched him and Annabelle have some sort of awkward exchange with his phone, and Annabelle walked into Quincella's with a happy look I'd never seen her wear in my life. Gabriella followed after her, probably wanting to get the details. Cam hung back for a minute, doing some sort of happy dance outside. I hung back as well, stifling laughs at his poor dancing skills.
Cam finally walked through the doors, and I stepped in front of him as soon as he did. "Why didn't you ever tell me?" I smiled, looking at him through my glassy eyes.
"Because you never asked." He smirked, and I knew everything was going to be okay. I gave him a long hug and let a few of my tears fall softly onto his shoulders. It wasn't a sort of romantic hug, but more of the kind of brother and sister kind of hug.
I tapped him on the shoulder, signaling that I had to go. I smiled at him, and I think we both knew that we were going to be okay. I walked down the hallway with a smile on my face that I knew would stay there for a long time.
