Mack walked up to our table, in some big huff about Cam Brimer and a big argument, but I figured I'd better keep out. She plopped into her chair, and I immediately started talking about food. I was so hungry.
"So when do you think the food is coming?" I asked Mack.
"I don't know. It's been about a half hour or so, but it is Quincella's." Mack sighed. I could tell she was really tired, and I didn't really know how to deal with it. Me, Mack and Annabelle were a threesome, and we all could keep a conversation going as three. It was hard to get started as two.
"So what's going on with Cam?" I asked Mack. It didn't seem like the first topic she wanted to talk about, but it did seem first on her mind and better than silence.
"I don't really want to talk about it." Mack said as she picked at her silverware, which was wrapped in a fancy cloth Quincella's style. Then, Cam walked by, followed about five or six paces by Annabelle. They were walking towards the door for who knows what, but I wanted to know.
"C'mon." I told Mack, pushing in my chair and grabbing her arm. I pulled her, urging her to get up so we could follow Annabelle.
"Hey!" Mack protested, but soon got the message that I wanted her to get going. She stood, and I lead her through the gold swirling arches that decorated the long corridor that led to the outside. I put my hand out behind me, slightly tapping Mack to tell her to slow down.
"Ow!" Mack protested. So much for a slight tap.
Annabelle and Cam were all the way down the hallway, quite a distance ahead of us, but I didn't want to risk being seen. Cam held open the door for Annabelle, and I swore I heard Mack huff, but I didn't want to go down that road again with her.
"What are they doing?" Mack whispered.
"I don't know." I replied and shrugged.
