Annabelle

Gabriella and I sat at the table for a few minutes, discussing some plans for the rest of the night.

"So where should we go after this?" Gabriella asked me.

"I don't know. I was thinking snag a couple of breadsticks from here and head to Mogermentry Park?" I replied while tapping my chin.

"That could work." Gabriella rested her chin in her palm, mulling it over. I continued to check over my shoulder at Mack. She was just staring at Cam, a look of shock over her face. That's when I'd about had it with being in the dark with the situation.

"I'll be right back." I told Gabriella as I pushed my chair in. I saw her open her mouth to say something out of the corner of my eye, but it was closed as quickly as she had opened it. I speed walked over to Mack, extremely curious at to what was going on.

When I got over there, Mack was saying something I couldn't her. She threw her arms up and turned around, only to be inches away from my face. She muttered something about going to see Gabriella, but she stalked off too quickly for me to even process the information.

"What'd you do to her?" I turned to Cam, putting on my best I'm-not-gonna-put-up-with-this voice.

"And who are you?" Cam scoffed.

"I asked first." I retorted.

"Yeah, real original." He laughed and high fived his friends, like it was some sort of inside joke. I just stood with my hip jutted out. After a minute, he got the message.

"Wait, you're serious?" He bent his head down a little and looked up at me, his voice nothing but a harsh, low whisper.

I squatted down so he was looking down at me. "Yeah." I remarked a bit rudely. Well, a lot rudely. And sarcastically. "I'm Annabelle, by the way."

Cam completely ignored my introduction and continued to talk about his previous remark. "It's an inside joke." He raised his eyebrows, trying to pass himself off as innocent. I knew better. Mack never got mad to the point where she wouldn't even try to debate with you. I wish she would, but no, she always has to debate with you.

"Yeah, okay." I furrowed my eyebrows together slightly and put on a face that I hoped said "don't mess with me".

"If you want the story, talk to Mack. I'm sure she thinks she knows what's better." Cam shook his head and turned his back to me so all I saw a little cowlick on the back of his head.

"I think I'd rather talk to you." I tried. Cam turned back to me, one eyebrow slightly raised over the other.

"Why?" He questioned me, not really sure what to do next.
"Because Mack's all the way over there." I smirked, knowing my logic sucked, but for some reason I didn't really care.

"Fine." He gave me a half smile, but it vanished quickly, as if he was trying to restrain himself from joy. Then, out of nowhere, he got up and started to walk outside.

"Where are you going?" I called after him.

"Outside. You didn't think I was going to tell a deep personal story out here, did you?" Cam joked, spreading his arms out as a gesture to say 'duh'. He turned to continue walking towards the door. I followed, wondering what in the world I was doing, walking outside of Quincella's with a boy I barely knew but felt like I had my whole life at 11:30 at night.
