chapter 21
-
ALEXANDRA WAS WOKE UP by the smell of greasy bacon and the sound of crackling in the kitchen. She squinted her eyes at the sunlight peeking through the window and the sound of her head pounding against her skull made her clamp her eyes shut a few times. She sat up, throwing a blanket off of herself that she didn't remember throwing on. The coffee table was cleared of bourbon and tissues, and replaced with Tylenol and a class of iced water. Alex took advantage of the two, and chugged down the water along with the medicine.
She stood, her bare feet hated the cold hardwood floors. Alex yawned slightly, resisting the urge to completely empty her stomach. It was a feeling she had been used to almost every Saturday and Sunday morning.
When she walked into the kitchen, she was met with a mug full of hot black coffee, just the way she liked it. Alex looked up to see Sam, a towel over his shoulder and Jason's old white barbecue apron on around his waist.
"You gonna be a dick again today?" Alex raised her eyebrows at the man in front of her, grabbing the coffee from his hand and sitting down on a stool in the corner of the kitchen. Her eyes told him she was still decently upset with him, which would do no good.
"Well, I'm just gonna say it, I'm sorry." A little smirk was riding his lips, "It's just, vampires and shifters they don't get along well. I just want what's best for you and Sookie. I love you, Alex, like you're my own sister." He flipped the bacon, sending the delicious smell all the way over to Alex.
The messy blonde was quiet for a few minutes, before a small smile popped up on her face. "I'm only forgivin' you cause I want some breakfast." Sam's jaw dropped playfully and she chuckled, "And 'cause, I love you." She sent him a large grin, and her eyes trailed over to the premade plate of food on the table.
"Go on ahead and eat, Sookie is still asleep I'm gonna wait for her." Sam nodded to the kitchen table and Alex took his invitation, hopping off of the stool and going to sit down.
"I feel like a bitch. Sookie was attacked last night and I couldn't have cared less, I told her it was probably a prank. If she felt like I felt after Gran's funeral, then I fucked up royally." Alex used a knife to cut up her pancakes, which were doused in maple syrup. A greasy breakfast made for good hangover food.
"That was pretty bad, Sookie told me about it. Sometimes though, you can't help it. If I saw the shit you have seen I'd drink my weight too, I'm surprised Sookie doesn't. It'll be okay though, you two always work your shit out." He pointed a spatula at her and she sternly nodded, chewing her food.
By the time she was finished, Sookie still hadn't woken up yet, but given it was still early in the morning Alex didn't think much of it. She took a quick and quiet shower, quickly got dressed in a T-shirt and blue jeans, leaving her hair down to air dry. She popped her glasses on and headed down stairs.
"I'd appreciate it if you watched after Sook today, I gotta go get some clothes and shit from the house, it might take like two trips." Alex's fingers tied a knot in her shoelaces while she looked up at Sam.
"You movin' in?" His southern sass was evident but Alex quipped back with a single nod. "Really? What's Jason gonna do without you?"
"Well he has Amy now, y'know, the waitress you hired after 5 minutes of meeting her." Alexandra grabbed her car keys, and her purse from the kitchen counter, giving Sam a kiss on the cheek. "Thanks, Sammy."
-
Alexandra stuffed her keys in her pocket, walking up to the front door. Her hand went to the doorknob but she pulled away, grimacing at the fact she could've walked in on Jason and Amy, doing it. Her hand banged lightly on the wooden door, and after a few moments the door swung open to reveal Jason, only a few minutes away from leaving for work.
"Al, what are you doing here?" He was carrying around a black trash bag, that seemed to be basically empty. He peeked back inside for a minute then grabbed her arm, pulling her outside and shutting the front door. "I don't really want you in the house right now. I don't think Amy and I are gonna make it, and we had a big fight. Things got messy."
Alex chuckled, before noticing he was serious, "Jason, I already paid half the damn bills for this month, still my house too. I couldn't care less about a mess, I don't have to look at it for too long." She flashed him a tight smile, going to walk past him when he grabbed her arm again.
Eddie. The name sauntered into her brain and everything else along with it. She turned slightly, looking to Jason with wide eyed and an agape mouth. She knew everything, from Amy and Jason stealing the vampire and his blood, to Amy running a stake through his heart.
Jason let go, his eyes wide when he realized what Alexandra has done. "How? How could you do that, to-to a living person? Kidnappin' him? Torturin' him for his blood? You're sick! You're actually right, I don't want to go in that house. And I don't want to be anywhere near you, and tell your crazy ass girlfriend to stay the fuck away from me." She pushed him out of the way, getting in her car and burning rubber just to get out of the gravel driveway.
-
Alexandra pushed her gear shift into park, getting out and locking the door to her car. A frown arrived on her face as she looked up at the dark red neon sign, Fangtasia. After she locked up Merlotte's she went to the house and changed quickly, seeing no sign of Sookie or Sam.
Alex figured it was time to see if Eric was even alive or not, considering she hadn't heard from him or Pam in what seemed like forever. It was crazy about her, or so she thought. But something in the back of her mind kept nagging her until she finally gave in and made her way inside the club.
Her purse clung tight to her side as she managed to maneuver her way through the sea of people and back towards Eric's office.
"No, he's a dick! Dick, dick, dick!" A redhead girl was standing in the doorway, Alex couldn't see her face but by her adolescent giggle she couldn't have been much older than a teenager. "You're cute, can I sit in your lap?"
After hearing that, Alex finally cleared her throat, walking in behind the redhead girl. Eric's eyebrows raised up, and Bill who she had just noticed looked extremely uncomfortable when he locked eyes with her.
"No." Eric pursed his lips, while the girl turned around facing Alex.
They were about the same height, which made Alexandra the tiniest bit uncomfortable. A light colored dress covered in small blue flowers clung to the girl's skinny figure, and blood surrounded the corners of her lips.
"Who the hell are you?" Her beautiful long hair darted to the side as she tilted her hair slightly. It was almost like she was, new.
Alexandra furrowed her eyebrows, "Who the fuck are you?" Her voice wasn't loud, wasn't in a harmful tone at all. Bill and Eric stayed quiet, watching the scene as it played out. Though, Eric was sporting a small smirk.
"I'm a vampire now, so you better back off. You smell so good." She sniffed the air, her fangs dropped down and Alex gulped slightly. Suddenly there was a rush of wind and Eric was in front of her, glaring down at the young vampire.
"Jessica, she is mine. Sit down, shut up, and be respectful to Ms. Stackhouse." Eric practically growled at her, she huffed and sat down on Eric's filing cabinet. "Ah, shut the door." He commanded, holding up a finger and giving Bill a small grin. Jessica huffed, getting up to slam the door, then taking her place on the cabinet.
"See, Bill, you got to be tough with them or they're gonna walk all over you." Eric smirked, watching the dark haired vampire roll his eyes.
Alexandra walked around Eric, gently sitting her purse down and hopping on Eric's desk. All eyes were on her as she looked around the room with her eyebrows raised.
"Anyone gonna tell me what the fuck that means?" Alex asked, only gaining a shrug from Eric. She sucked in her cheeks, knowing the whole mine thing was an extreme thing to say to vampires, she assumed he would mention it later. "And who is she? What in the world is going on here? Y'know what? Bill, give me your hand." Alexandra let out a tired sigh, stretching out her hand to her sister's boyfriend. He seemed reluctant to take her hand, but obliged anyway, giving Eric a dark glare.
Alex squeezed her eyes shut, and Jessica snorted in laughter until Eric's head whipped around, giving her a damnable look.
Being respectful, Alex didn't really want to search for anything in his head other than Jessica. So that's was she focused on, and she was able to see a junkyard, surrounded by vampires, with Bill in the middle. Pam, Eric, and Chow were standing off to the side. Bill was facing another vampire, a very powerful one, seeing as though he was up on a pile of cars, swinging a cane at the rest of them.
Jessica was dumped in front of him. He had no choice but to create another vampire life for killing Longshadow.
Alexandra opened her eyes, her jaw dropped slightly. She looked at Bill, who had guilt written all over his face. The other two vampires in the room were curious, but Eric knew how Alex felt. Her whole being reeked of nervousness and guilt for the redhead in the room. "You had to-" Alex gulped and glanced at the redhead who was pouting, "because you saved me?"
He nodded, his eyebrows going up. Everyone seemed to miss the relief on his face, except for Eric.
"Bill," Eric called out, "You're dismissed, go see your precious Sookie Stackhouse. You owe me." Bill nodded and raced out of the club.
"Alexandra, as you can see Pam and I are babysitting for Bill. Maybe you can come back another time." Eric avoided the blonde's gaze, while Jessica crossed her arms and glared at the back of his head.
Alex was surprised by his comment, "I ain't going anywhere, Eric. It's been long enough, I thought you would show up the second you got back from the tribunal. But you didn't and I was worried, so here I am." She slid her black jacket off, revealing the tied spaghetti straps of her dainty red dress.
Eric was silent for a moment, almost trying to stare her down but Alex wasn't breaking. He clenched his jaw, and let out a very long sigh.
"Jessica? How would you like to learn how a real vampire feeds?" Eric raised his eyebrows at the proposition and watched as the redhead melted her anger away.
"Oh yes sir, please sir." She nodded her head, her eyes going wide with excitement.
Eric chuckled, "Pam." He called out, and the blonde vampire was in the office in an instant, making Alex blink a few times.
"Now there's someone I don't entirely hate." Pam sauntered over time Alex, letting her fingers play with the red ties upon her shoulders. "Nice clavicles, sweetheart."
Alexandra couldn't help but smile at the weird compliment. "Thanks, I like your-" she paused for a moment, raking her eyes down Pam's figure in a very sensual way. Almost teasing the blonde who was dressed in a red corset, with black leather details and pants. "Leather."
Eric seemed to be surprised at Alex's open flirtation towards his progeny, but didn't seem to mind. Pam gave her a wicked smile, leaning in to whisper in her ear. "Don't start something you can't finish, princess."
Alex just raised her eyebrows, giving a small grin.
"Pam, take her to the back and give her a human. Make sure she doesn't kill him." Eric spoke a slew of Swedish, making Alex curious about what he was actually saying. Pam rolled her eyes and replied in the same language, "Fine. You always get to have fun."
Eric chuckled, watching Pam grab the back of Jessica's neck leading her out of his office.
"How old is she?" Alex's face dropped as soon as Eric shut the door, her frisky smile was replaced with a worrisome frown and Eric walked over to her, taking a seat in his chair. Alex turned waiting for him to answer.
"Seventeen." Eric picked up a pen, ignoring her lingering stare, which made Alexandra even more upset.
"Jesus Christ." She blinked, bringing her fingers up to her mouth as apart of her nervous habit. Alex let her head tilt slightly, watching as Eric filled out papers and papers, using his vampire speed.
Alex decided it was time for them to actually talk, and the best way to distract Eric from ignoring her was to flirt. She hopped off the desk, walking behind him and placing her hands on his shoulders, squeezing slightly.
She could feel him tense up for a second, but soon he was back to his normal relaxed self. She slid her hands down to his chest slowly, letting him know she was trying to release him of his work.
"What are you doing?" Eric hummed, with an eyebrow raised. His tone suggested he knew exactly what she was doing.
"What does me being yours mean, exactly?" Alex ignored his question, leaning her head down to let her lips slightly touch his ear. Eric turned around in his chair and pulled her into his lap, all in one quick motion.
Alexandra was surprised, but didn't let herself break her flirty charm.
"It means, no other human, vampire, or any other creature can touch you. I've claimed you as mine, you are under my protection. Usually a vampire will leave his mark, right about here." Alexandra gasped as his teeth raked a supple spot on her neck. He could practically hear his smirk, it said "I can totally do this better than you, and you know it."
"What if I don't like that? Don't I get an opinion?" Alexandra let her hands roam through his hair, never breaking eye contact with the Viking.
"You do, and you did. I can feel you. You wanted it, and right about now you want me." Eric's voice was tempting her to do something she hadn't even planned on doing. It was almost like he was hypnotizing her with his words and his burning touch.
His lips trailed tiny, fiery kisses up her jawline and to her plump lips. Their lips met, and for the first time in a long time, Alex's mind went blank. There was only one thing she could focus on, and that was getting the vampire in bed.
She let out a hum when he darted his tongue into her mouth, and his fangs clicked. She pulled back slightly because of the surprise, but soon her hands were pushing his head towards hers, and their lips connected once more.
His hands trailed down from her hair to her waist, easily picking her up and placing her to where either side of her legs were wrapped around him. Alex pushed away again, trying to calm herself down before someone walked in.
"Eric, I hate to break it to you, but I am not fucking you for the first time in your office. Second? Maybe. But first? No." Alex mumbled the words as his fangs grazed her neck, she gasped quickly as she was on her feet in seconds.
"We can be at my house in 15 if you drive." Alexandra raised her eyebrows, quickly throwing her black jacket on her shoulders.
Eric scoffed, "We aren't driving. Come on." He grabbed her hand, watching a she struggled to throw her purse behind his desk so nothing happened to her belongings. He led her outside to the back parking lot, where he then looked up at the sky.
"Eric, you're kinda leavin' me all hot and bothered here. Why the hell are we not moving." Alex chuckled, curiously looking up in the sky to mimic him.
"Just checking the weather, sunshine. It looks like it's a clear night." Eric slowly walked up to her, taking her arms and wrapping them around his torso. She laughed when Eric lifted her slightly so her feet were on top of his. "Hold on tight ."
"Eric, what the hell are you-" Alexandra started, blinking up at the vampire, she got cut off suddenly by Eric shooting up into the air. "What the fuck!" She screamed, squeezing Eric tightly. She buried her face in his tank top and didn't move until Eric pushed her off gently.
They were in her bedroom, and Alex stumbled back from him slightly, looking around. Eric's chest rumbled as he chuckled, steadying the blonde with his arm that snaked behind her. He pulled her close, and she looked up at him, astonished.
"You can fucking fly."
"I can fucking fly."
Alexandra grinned, giving an unbelievable laugh. She let her arms wrap around his neck and slowly trail down, all the way to the hem of his tank top. She yanked it off of him, all the while working on her heels. Eric puckered his lips on her shoulders, taking his teeth and biting the tied strings. He pulled them both loose, making the dress fall to the ground.
Eric took her in, the white lace against her tan skin, and the wavy blonde hair that fell perfectly in place. There was just something about Alexandra he couldn't resist. He thought he was acting like a lovesick fool. Eric Northman didn't fall for anyone. He was a ladies man, a new woman every night. He hadn't had a woman in his bed since the night he laid eyes on the Stackhouse girl.
During his thoughts, Alexandra had managed to throw herself on the bed and lean herself against the headboard.
"You comin' cowboy?"
