Sacrifice
Written 2013 by VeGirl
Hello my fabulous readers!
This chapter will seriously change direction from where the The Vampire Diaries-show now is heading, but this is essential for this book, so don't be too alarmed when you read this chapter. I don't follow the show that hard in this story; I just borrow the characters to play with.
All credits goes to LJ Smith, Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson as usual; they have their own amazing storyline!
Now, on with the story!

Anna and I walked into Klaus mansion the next day and were met by an affected Elijah. "Annora!" He breathed, and then he realized his mistake. "Anna, I mean." He said in a calmer voice.
"Hi Elijah, I haven't seen you for a long time." I hugged the man who had helped us out several times.
"Emma, it is good to have you back."
Elena came walking in and was greeted by a smiling Elijah.
"Elena?" I asked, feeling watchful all of a sudden.
She smiled. "Guess again!"
"Katherine!"
She just smiled smug as an answer and Elijah laid his arm around her back.
"I knew there was something going on between you!" I exclaimed triumphantly.
Klaus walked into the room and snorted towards his brother and Katherine. "Hello girls, what's up?" He slumped down in an armchair and put his feet up. I really wanted to ask him about Carol Lockwood, but this wasn't such a good opportunity with his brother and Katherine in the room.
"Take a seat, by all means." He said generously and once again you could never tell if he really was generous or just extremely sarcastic.
"Have you heard anything?" I said a bit blunt, but yet...
"About mother you mean? No I'm sorry; no news." He sighed.
"But you even heard news in Europe! What has happened to your hybrid-spies?" I had my usual cocky attitude. "You need a shorter leach on them?"
"Emma!" Anna reprimanded me.
"What?"
"I think your friend is talking about respecting the elders and all that. Perhaps I ought to call your parents?" Klaus seemed to have adapted his brother's slow way of speaking.
I just glared at him. "Then perhaps I need to call your parents?" I retorted in a bitter tone.
"Perhaps not." Anna said, flinching at the thought of the sacrifice that was hanging like a dark shadow over her head. "Could we please talk about something else?"
I turned and looked at her. "I'm sorry." I didn't even want to think of her getting killed and then I suddenly realised that I had Katherine in the room. "Thank you for beating the crap out of me and throwing me in the dungeon, by the way."
"You're welcome." She smirked.
"Hello Anna, so we finally meet again." A soft British voice said in a calm way, making us all flinch and turned to see Esther gracefully enter the room with Elena in tow; after her Stefan walked with a grim look and Damon rushed in after him.
"Esther..."
She headed straight into the middle of the room when I noted the glimmer of an ancient sword in her hand, a sword I had seen before. "No!" I whirled around to stand in front of Anna.
Ester just looked at me with a soft smile. "Do you think you're strong enough to stop me?" And I was suddenly down on my knees, watching Ester take a strong grip on Anna's wrist.
"No!" I wanted to yell, but it came out as a croak.
I couldn't believe that nobody did anything more than in horror watching Esther raise that old sword, but instead of plunging it into Anna's chest as I thought, she just made a scratch in Anna's hand, the one she was holding. Amazed I watched how she let droplets of blood run over the blade of the sword and down into a glass, and then she had a gaze to wrap around Anna's hand.
"That's it?" came out of me. "We've been running for our lives to save Anna, and all you needed was a few drops?"
Esther smiled at me, a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. "You didn't really listen last time we met, Emma. You ran before I had a chance to explain the procedure."
"Why my blood?" Anna asked.
"Annora, your ancestor, was the one that saved Tatia." Esther explained and I was wondering if we had explained enough about Tatia to Anna. "Since Tatia was the one who bound the spell of turning my poor children into vampires, it was a natural choice to have Annora be the one to free them from this terrible fate."
Anna looked at the woman with big eyes. "But I thought you did it to save them."
"Well, even the best plans can backfire and I didn't understand it would turn them into monsters."
"They're not monsters!" I interrupted. "They are only..."
Esther interceded my little advocation. "Now where is this poor Elena, who has been put through this horrid ordeal?" Esther looked and sounded almost empathic. Elena walked up to her, with Stefan by her side.
"And this is what you want, Elena?" Esther asked. "This isn't just what anybody else wants?"
I looked around the room to figure out what she meant and saw Klaus who'd be able to make more hybrids with the human Elena's blood, I saw Katherine who wanted the Salvatore's for herself and I saw Esther who had used Elena's doppelganger-blood to bind the originals together to kill them. Finally I watched Stefan and Damon who had been rivals over this girl.
"Yes." Elena broke the silence.
Esther held her hand out for Elena who laid a hand in the older woman's and we all watched as Esther took the sword Klaus had dug up in Italy and slid it over Elena's hand, just like she did with Anna's and we watched the blood pour out. In the same glass that Anna's blood was, now Elena's vampire-blood trickled down over the blade of the knife. When Esther had the right amount, she closed Elena's hand and seconds thereafter, Elena opened it again and it was healed.
The blade of the sword suddenly caught my eyes as the mixed blood made a swirling pattern appear along the blade.
Stefan put his arm around Elena and they walked away from this woman and we all watched as she had some big boulder of a rock with a hollow in where she put a glass bowl. I looked amazed at the big rock and something that looked like runic ascriptions on it. I remember thinking of how they used to write the name of the glamrock group Kizz from way back when, with the letter z looking like flashes of lightning. The blood-mixture Esther poured into the bowl as she read something I didn't understand. I glanced over at Anna who furrowed her eyebrows as she listened to Esthers chant.
After a while she took the bowl ceremoniously and poured the blood in a wineglass that stood on the table, and then reached it to Elena. Elena took it and without any looks on Stefan she drank the blood, coughed and dropped to her knees, gasping for air.
Was that it? Was that what those five hunters had been after for a thousand years? It seemed too easy.
After a while of astonishment we all watched Elena get up and padding her body as if to search for signs and then she smiled up at Stefan. "I'm back!" She exclaimed astonished. "I can feel the change!" She looked around at all of us. "It worked!" She was amazed as we all were; was this what we had feared? We were all smiling and congratulating her, and I was hugging Anna, ecstatic that she was safe and still alive.
"So..." Esther interrupted. "There is just a little thing I want in return for helping you, Elena." Esther said and held her hand out to her again.
"Of course!" Elena put her hand back in Esther's and suddenly the knife was back, cutting another mark as Elena winced.
Suddenly we were all on high alert again.
Esther held Elena's hand for the blood to drip into another glass. Elena's whole face was showing signs of horror again as Esther took the glass of blood and what looked like water. "No!" Elena breathed, well aware of what the woman was about to do. Esther watched her without the reassurance she portrayed just minutes ago. "Now I can do what I came here for in the first place."
"No!" I yelled in chorus with Anna, Elena and several of the others in this room.
"They are evil creatures." Esther's voice was calm but filled with disdain. "Abominations; and the world need to be freed from them."
Anna suddenly took a step forward, as Esther turned to some parchment on the desk before her. "Their evil is a result of abusive parents." Anna's voice was strong and assertive, making Esther look at her in surprise.
She just turned back to her task and continued. "They're evil and I have let this go on for far too long. It is time to make the wrong right."
"No!" We all yelled as Esther poured the blood on the document before her, and we saw how it made a pattern.
Suddenly all the originals in the room dropped to their knees and I watched in horror as I understood what she was about to do. If she killed the originals, every vampire would be killed as well.
"No!" Elena, Anna and I gasped.
The original witch started to read some chants, sounding very much like before. Then all of a sudden, a wind started to blow the room, and I watched around to see if any windows were open. As I realised that was not the case I noted Anna lifting her hands toward Esther while the wind increased in power.
Amazed I watched Anna close her eyes and starting some other chant and I asked myself if she was helping Esther. Esthers chanting decreased and I saw her stare at Anna with a worried expression and everything in the room was going extremely slow. It didn't feel real at all, it was like something you saw in a film, almost Matrix-like. Wind was whirling around as Esther looked at Anna with fear written all over and she dropped to her knees.
"I cannot allow you to kill them." Once again Anna's voice was strong and clear. "This is not in line with the sisterhood." The next we saw was the parchment going up in flames, and Esther collapsing on the floor.
Anna stopped the chanting and everything went dead silent for a minute before everybody reacted. The original siblings, no longer kneeling on the floor, took their mother out of the room in an impressive speed and Damon had me in his arms the next second.
I pulled free from him almost immediately and Anna and I hugged. "How did you do that?" I asked amazed.
She shrugged, almost as surprised to have pulled it off as we were. "I don't know, it was as if this was what I was supposed to do."
"Wow!" I just said, completely blown away. "My friend; the powerful witch!" I hugged her again and we laughed. "Those witch-lessons really paid off!"
Then Anna looked around in the room. "Are everybody okay?" and we all wanted to bow or even kowtow to her. I couldn't believe what she had managed; this was the woman that even Klaus had been afraid of for crying out loud!
We had all managed to congratulate Anna and thank her and we had checked for Elena's well being when Klaus walked back into the room; he walked straight up to Anna and hugged her. "Are you okay?" he said and I wasn't the only one to look surprised.
"Yeah, did you see that?" She said impressed with herself.
"I certainly did! You've been doing your homework, luv." He smiled towards her.
"What did you do to her?"
"Amariya is preparing for a desiccation-spell, like the one's these guys freed her from." Klaus looked at Stefan and Damon with a stern look.
"Hey, it was actually Bonnie!" Damon defended himself.
"Yes, I know Damon." Klaus said annoyed and rolled his eyes in a tired look.
"I... " Anna looked around. "I better do my best to help Amariya." She said with an expectant look on Klaus who gave her a weak smile.
"This way, my lady..." And he held out his arm to lead the way. The four of us left just looked at each other with exhausted expressions.
"How are you feeling?" I asked a bewildered Elena.
"Strangely numb." She answered truthfully. "I've been deprived my extra senses, and I'm exhausted."
We all furrowed our eyebrows.
She noted our troubled looks. "But this is just what I wanted, so... I'm happy!" She added. "I am so glad, Stefan!" She turned and gave him a smile that lit up his whole existence.
Klaus returned to us. "Anna will be busy with my sister for a while, and she asked me to tell you to go home." He informed us. "They are deeply involved and will be for some time." He then turned his attention to Elena. "How are you, luv?"
At first she seemed a little startled, and even worried to be close to him, but then she relaxed. "I'm fine, thank you."
He seemed to relax and gave her an honest smile. "Good, go home and relax now." He then turned to me. "Anna will call you tomorrow."
I just nodded. "Take care of her."
He just smiled cheeky. "As I see fit." He replied in that hard to interpret way of his, and with double feelings Stefan and Elena, Damon and me left the Mikaelson Mansion.

So, there it is!
In my story now Elena has acomplished her wish; she is human! I love Jeremy too much, so I refuse to kill him off.
Yes, I can play with them as much as I want! I even took Lexi back from her death.
