Withdrawal
Izzy tossed around restlessly beneath her scratchy blankets. Everything that even slightly touched her skin felt like sandpaper. Just putting on a shirt felt like a bag of sand had been dumped down her collar. Gray rays of light were starting to seep through the windows but it was still too early to get up and actually face the day. But despite the ungodly hour Izzy couldn't make herself to fall back to sleep. It was the itchy sheets and the hot air and the absence of gentle snores from across the room that kept her from getting any rest. She turned over yet again to face the wall, making the annoying sheets scrape against her skin. After counting out five dozen agonizing seconds Izzy had enough and kicked the itchy blankets off the bed, not caring that they landed in a crumpled heap on the floor. After several torturous minutes the burning of her skin was finally beginning to fade and Izzy's mind was starting to drift when the sound of the door opening startled her awake. She lay awake and listened intently as the front door clicked shut and quiet footsteps advanced through the apartment. A loud thud echoed down the hall, followed by a hissed "Ow!" A few breathless moments passed before the doorknob of Izzy's bedroom twisted and the door creaked open. A shadowy figure stumbled into the room, tripping a bit over his own feet and muttering a few more curse words before he bumped into his bed.
"Jimin?" His shoulders stiffened when he heard Izzy's voice but he didn't respond.
"Are you okay?" He said nothing to her as he peeled off his jacket and threw it on the floor, his shirt soon followed.
"I'm sorry," Izzy whispered as Jimin yanked back the sheets and collapsed on his bed, facing away from her.
Izzy pulled herself into a seated position and stared at Jimin's bare back for a while. It's official, he's ignoring her. How long would he do this? Yoongi said that Jimin would come back and he did, but he didn't say anything about Jimin freezing her out. Izzy didn't like this one bit, she hated it in fact. She hated that Jimin was mad at her. She hated that he was ignoring her. She hated that she was the one who caused him pain. And most of all she hated that the withdrawal she felt wasn't for the morphine but for Jimin's warm gaze on her.
Seeing that Jimin was obviously not going to miraculously turn around suddenly forgive her, Izzy sighed and got out of bed. She didn't bother with pulling on longer pants or a sweatshirt since the itching from her shorts and tank top was already bad enough. Izzy crept out of the bedroom, shut the door behind her so Jimin could sleep in peace, and padded down the hall to the kitchen before flipping on the light. Dull beams of early sunlight pierced through the windows and the clock read 5:34. Izzy clambered onto the counter and dug around the cabinets in search of coffee. Since Jin and Namjoon were usually the ones to wake up first and make the coffee they saw no trouble in storing the coffee tin on the top shelf. However, since Izzy was considerably shorter than everyone else in the apartment, she had to engage in a bit of early-morning counter climbing just to get the coffee. After retrieving the tin and setting a strong pot of coffee to brew, Izzy lay her entire torso down across the countertop and shut her eyes. It was far too early to be awake and the two and half hours of sleep she'd managed to get that night did nothing to relieve her exhaustion.
"Izzy?" A sleepy voice called from the hallway, making Izzy lift her head from the counter. "Why are you up so early?" Jungkook yawned and leaned against the counter next to her.
"I just couldn't sleep," she mumbled. "Why are you up?"
Izzy lifted herself fully from the counter and instead lay her head down on Jungkook's shoulder. He hung a heavy arm over her shoulder and lay his head on top of hers.
"I smelled coffee," he spoke with a sleepy smile on his face. The ding of the coffee maker notified them that the coffee was ready but neither of them moved.
"Jimin came back," Izzy admitted quietly.
"Yeah, I heard him run into the coffee table," he chuckled.
"He's not speaking to me." It wasn't something that Izzy would normally cry over but tears began to pool in her eyes anyway.
"Maybe he was just tired," Jungkook tried to defend.
"No Kookie, he's really mad at me. He stumbled into our room and went straight to bed. I asked if he was okay and he just ignored me. I said I was sorry and he turned his back on me," she dug her face into Jungkook's neck as the tears finally spilled over. "He hates me, Kookie. He really hates me." Izzy sobbed loudly and uncontrollably into his shirt.
"Hey, hey! Jimin does not hate you. If anything he loves you more than any of us, including me, and I'm your best friend so that's saying a lot." Jungkook hugged her tightly and ran a comforting hand through her hair. The motion was a bit awkward since he'd never been very good with crying people but he wouldn't just abandon his friend.
"He just needs time to process, I think. This hit him really hard. I know you didn't mean to hurt him—"
"Or any of you guys," Izzy interrupted through her sobs.
"Or any of us," Jungkook continued, "But even though it hurt him a lot he doesn't hate you. How many times do we have to tell you that before you actually believe us?"
"I won't believe it until he says it to me himself," she whispered.
Jungkook sighed in defeat and rubbed Izzy's back. And even though the gesture made her itchy tank top scrape uncomfortably against her skin, she didn't move. The sweet gesture outweighed the discomfort.
They stood like that for a few minutes, ignoring the beeping of the coffee maker. Izzy didn't know what caused the crazy flood of waterworks but she just cried until her tears ran dry, all the while ignoring the intense itch at the crook of her elbow. Jungkook didn't say anything else. He just ran his fingers soothingly through her hair and let her soak his t-shirt with tears.
"So," Jungkook dragged out the word, "Should we make pancakes?"
Izzy beamed, "Absolutely!"

"So why the sudden display of domesticity from you two?" Jin questioned as the boys eagerly stuffed their faces with pancakes.
"We were both up early so we made pancakes," Jungkook explained.
"Any why were the two of you up early?" Namjoon narrowed his eyes at Jungkook and Izzy where they sat squished together on the couch.
"Well because we were packing our bags," Izzy stated nonchalantly.
"What?" Hoseok's head shot up in surprise.
"We didn't want you guys to find out this way but we're running away," Jungkook continued Izzy's teasing joke.
"We thought that one last meal before we left might be nice way to part," she turned to Jungkook as the boys stared at them with wide eyes. "I think we should start drafting our goodbye note."
"Yes, I think we should. I was thinking that we leave tonight, that'll give us some time to finish packing," the smirk on his face was contagious and Izzy smiled to herself as well.
"You guys are kidding right? Right?" Taehyung asked anxiously, finally looking up from his plate of syrup-drenched pancakes as Izzy and Jungkook just laughed quietly with each other.
"Listen here you little punk, If you run away with my baby sister I will track you down and rip off a very specific part of your anatomy that I will not state for the sake of preserving Izzy's innocence." The vicious glare that Hoseok held him under actually made Jungkook shed a bead of nervous sweat.
"Innocence?" Yoongi glanced up from his plate of pancakes and stared at Hoseok like he'd gone insane. "You do know that she's—"
"Shut it!" Izzy's screech cut off what was going to be the reveal of a very embarrassing and unnecessary statement. Yoongi just raised a single eyebrow at her and turned back to his pancakes with a chuckle.
"That she's what?" Namjoon pried.
"Forget that," Izzy waved off his curious question and instead turned to Hoseok. "Baby sister?" She raised an eyebrow.
"What?" He shrugged as if it was nothing. "We may not be blood related but you're still my baby sister, and if you have a problem with that then you can take it up with your favorite big brother." He gave her a sly grin and lay himself across Izzy's legs so he could reach up and pinch her cheeks.
"Fine, fine!" She slapped his hands away from her face. "You can be my big brother but you have to stop pinching my cheeks," Izzy rubbed the reddened skin.
"Hey! You can't tell me what to do, young lady," Hoseok scolded her.
Izzy's jaw dropped incredulously before she realized that he was teasing her yet again. She narrowed her eyes at him.
"You're mean," she whined.
"But you love me," Hoseok sang happily.
"Yeah, yeah," she muttered.
The boys' loud chattering stopped abruptly when Jimin paused in the hall archway and stared blankly at the assembly in the living room. His cold gaze landed on Jungkook and slid to the arm he had wrapped around Izzy's shoulders then to Hoseok who was splayed across her lap, his eyes narrowed slightly. He stomped into the kitchen without saying a word and poured himself a cup of coffee. The tension in the room was thick as all smiles dropped and the boys peeled themselves off of Izzy. It was weird that they pulled away because of Jimin but Izzy knew that he was mad and that the boys were just trying to placate him.
"Good pancakes right?" Taehyung smiled at Jimin, trying to break the tension but Jimin just stuffed his mouth with a pancake and said nothing.
"Izzy made them." Taehyung tried again to make Jimin respond. But the attempt backfired when Jimin slammed his coffee mug down on the counter and dumped his plate in the sink before stomping back to his bedroom.
"Uh," Taehyung struggled for words as he turned a sad gaze on Izzy, "Maybe he wasn't hungry?" He gulped nervously knowing that he probably made the situation worse.
"It's okay Tae," she offered him a tiny smile and pulled herself off the couch, she didn't blame him for Jimin's behavior. "It's not your fault." She hugged the pouting boy and ruffled his hair which made him do the same to her. "I'm going to go shower." Izzy gave a wave to the boys and padded down the hall, casting a longing gaze at her closed bedroom door.
