Something More

They walked silently down the steps of Dongdae Central Hotel, only the sound of Izzy's heels clicking on the marble could be heard. None of them knew what to say, they were wrapped up in their thoughts. The anger coursing through Izzy's veins began to fade as the group walked slowly down the sidewalk, and it felt like a weight had been lifted from her shoulders. She was free. Izzy had upheld the bargain: she went to the meeting and she listened, never did she say that she would agree to anything they proposed. And now all she could do was hope that her parents upheld their end of the deal: leaving her alone for good.

A cold drop on her bare arm startled Izzy out of her thoughts. The drop of frigid water rolled down her arm, off her fingers, and dripped into a crack in the sidewalk. Izzy craned her head up to the sky. Tiny white flakes drifted gently from the clouds, landing softly on her skin and melting before rolling off. Izzy didn't mind the coldness of the air, she'd always loved the snow.

"Here," Namjoon placed his leather jacket over her shoulders, keeping his hoodie on.
Izzy smiled up at him, she hadn't noticed that she was shivering, "Thank you, Joon." A floor length, backless dress wasn't the best wardrobe choice this time of year.

Jimin watched the interaction, not letting go of Izzy's hand. He didn't mind that the other guys were taking care of her, she was their friend and they had all promised to keep her safe. Walking slowly through the city, Izzy's hand intertwined with his and his best friends—his family—surrounding him, Jimin's jealousy melted away like the snow. He knew that he'd been a jerk these past few days with the way he had ignored both Izzy and the guys. He shouldn't care if Jungkook and Izzy were getting closer, it should be a good thing. He glanced down at the girl who held tightly onto his hand as she walked pressed into his side. Jimin couldn't ignore it anymore, he couldn't just push aside what he felt. This girl who had a past, who struggled with addiction, who knew, just like him, what it was like to be without a home. He liked this girl, as a lot more than just a friend, and he wanted her to be happy no matter what it took. And if Jungkook is what would make her happy then Jimin would step aside. He'd rather be just a friend to her than not have her in his life at all.

Jin threw his keys to Namjoon who unlocked the door to their apartment and led them in. Izzy walked into the dark living room, finally letting out a yawn.

"Ow! Damn it," her foot throbbed from whatever gigantic thing she'd just rammed it into. "What the hell is this thing?" The lights were flicked on as Izzy leaned on the huge box and threw her heels off, massaging her hurt toe.

"It's a bed," Hoseok told her as he flopped onto the couch.
"A bed? What the hell do you guys need another bed for? And why is it in the middle of the—"
"It's for you," her eyes snapped up to a smiling Taehyung.
"What?"
"Oh come on Izzy, you didn't seriously think that we would keep letting you sleep on the couch," he grinned happily as he sat down on top of the box and Izzy did the same.
"We were gonna set it up tonight but then we found your note so we ran out of here as fast as we could. Sorry it's not ready yet," he laughed a bit, swinging his feet.

Izzy looked around at the group of boys gathered in the living room. They were all just sitting or standing around and smiling at her. She felt tears prick her eyes but pushed them back, she hadn't known that it was possible to cry from happiness. She wanted to hug the crap out of all of them so she started with the one closest to her. Izzy's arms wound tightly around Taehyung's neck and his arms held her close, rubbing gentle circles on her back.

"Thank you guys," she made sure to speak loud enough so that all the boys heard her, even though her voice cracked. Izzy pulled out of the hug, "You really didn't have to."

"We know we didn't have to," Jin smiled, "We wanted to."

"You guys are the best," Izzy whispered.

"Yeah, we know," Jungkook smirked at her, bumping their shoulders together, but Izzy just rolled her eyes and leaned her head on his shoulder.

"Well it's late, I think we should all get ready for bed," Namjoon stated. "Uh Izzy, do you mind if we put your bed together tomorrow?"

She smiled, "Of course not." The truth is she wanted get out of that dress because sweatpants would be a hell of a lot more comfortable.

"Goodnight guys." Izzy dropped onto the couch just as Hoseok ruffled her hair and stood up from it, giving her a smile before walking into his room. Izzy glanced at the piles of clothes on the floor. She had never cleaned up after throwing all her clothes out of her duffel bag in search of something to wear tonight. With a sigh Izzy slid off the couch and knelt on the floor, slowly shoving all her clothes back into the bag. She reached for her favorite gray sweater but another hand beat her to it.

"Hey," Jimin mumbled as he handed her the sweater. The other boys had already left the room but Jimin stayed behind, he needed to talk to Izzy.

"Hi," she didn't know what to say.
"Izz," he took a deep breath and looked up into her eyes, "I'm so sorry. I've been a jerk to you the past few days and I shouldn't have ignored you like that." He didn't do much apologizing but he would say sorry to her a million times over if that's what it took for her to forgive him.

"Why did you?" She wasn't mad at him for it, she never was, but Izzy wanted to know why he'd abruptly stopped speaking to her.

"Because I'm a stupid, pig headed man who doesn't know how to deal with life."

Izzy's eyebrows furrowed, "What do you mean?" She was glad they were talking, but Jimin was being cryptic.

"What I mean is that," he didn't want to admit it, "I was jealous and being the idiot I am, I took it out on you." He cast his gaze to the floor, he didn't feel strong enough to look into her eyes.

She was silent a moment but her mind was reeling. "Jealous of what?" It didn't make any sense in her mind as to what he was jealous of.

"Of Jungkook," he admitted in a tense voice.
Izzy was even more confused. "Why would you be jealous of Kookie?"

"Not just him. Of you and him." He wasn't making any sense.
"Jimin I still don't understand. Why would you be jealous of us?" She placed her hand over his and his fingers automatically wrapped around hers.

"It was that day when we brought you home after your episode, you two stayed behind while the rest of us went out. And when we came back you were sleeping on his shoulder, you were calling him Kookie, you were suddenly so close to him, and you hadn't been before. And I was jealous." He finally glanced up at her, only to see her rum colored eyes starting to water.

"That's why you ignored me?" He slowly nodded and Izzy let out a relived laugh, letting her head fall back.
"Jimin, you never asked me what happened while you guys were out that day," her laughs faded into a simple smile.
"All me and Kookie did that day was talk. And he asked me to be his friend, so I said yes, because I've never had a friend before," Jimin grinned; they were friends, just friends. But his smile quickly faded.

"What do you mean you've never had friends?"

Izzy looked down at her hands while picking at her nails, "My parents didn't let me talk to anyone outside of their social circle. And when I dated Youngkyun he never let me get too close to anyone either," she noticed how Jimin stiffened at the name, and she made a mental note to ask about it later.

"Well I knew you before Jungkook did. Aren't we friends?" It killed him to think that she didn't consider him a friend.

Izzy took a deep breath and grabbed his other hand, pulling their intertwined hands into her lap as she tried to ignore her pounding heartbeat. She needed him here, knowing he was there with her helped Izzy gather the courage to whisper her next words.

"You are...something more."

Jimin's eyes lit up, "And what's that?" He asked in a breathless voice, squeezing her hands in his.
Izzy looked up into his chocolate colored eyes, trying to decipher what he was thinking.

"I'm not sure yet," she paused, "But I'd like find out."
