Chapter 11| Walima
Today was the last day of the wedding also known as the Walima which is the reception. I was at home chilling for a few minutes before getting up and getting ready for the reception. As I looked in my closet I remembered last night.
Flashback
Javari and Aabid seemed perfectly happy as my aunt and uncle helped Javaria into the car that was going to take her to her new home. I had to come along with Javaria because we bring alongside a women with the bride to help her with her outfit and stuff.
When we arrived the camera crew was already there probably to get some footage of Javaria coming inside the house. Aabid helped Javaria get out of the car and into the house. He lead us into a master bedroom beautifully decorated for Javaria.
I awed in beauty at the room and quickly covered up when I caught Javaria glaring at me. "I'll let you two talk, I'll be downstairs when you need me Javaria." She nodded acting all shy.
fake ass bitch
I sweetly smiled and left the room walking downstairs to the living room. I saw the camera crew and Aabid's father arguing about money while Aabid's mother stood there not knowing what to do.
"Nothing costs $100 now!" The camera man angrily shouted "I never told you to record my daughter-in-law in my son's bedroom." Aabid's father fired back. Noticing the tension I walked to them "What's wrong?" everyone turned to me "He's not giving me the proper amount of money I need!" the camera man said mad.
"How much do you need?" I asked shuffling through my purse, I had about 1,000 on me at the moment. "3,000" the camera man said looking at me expectantly. I pulled out the 1,000 and handed it to him.
"I'll give you the rest at the reception tomorrow." he stared at the money "If you dont want it I'll have it back." I said taking my hand out. He blushed and left after mumbling a quick thank you.
"Rayyana, you shouldn't have done that." I turned around to Aabid's father who was smiling at me "No worry's uncle it's okay. Aunt and uncle couldn't put their own money in for their daughter's wedding and you had to put all your money into it. 3,000 isn't much but it's something."
Aabid's mother and father smiled at each and said "bless you." I smiled at that and we all looked at Aabid who was walking down the stairs blushing "You can go help her now." I raised an eyebrow at him but nodded and went upstairs.
I opened the door and Javaria was sitting there with her lipstick smudged also blushing. I smirked and said "Got busy?" She looked up and tried scowling but the smile on her face wouldn't stop.
"Shut up and help me." She walked into the bathroom while I picked out some clothes and makeup remover from her suitcase. After removing her makeup and changing her into PJ's I was cleaning out Javaria's suitcase when she came out with the tiniest bit of makeup still on. It wasn't much but it was still noticeable.
"Why did you put more makeup on?" She rolled her eyes and got under the covers "Because Rayyana, men don't like girls without makeup." I scoffed annoyed by that one famous line "Rayyana, you need to learn how to do makeup or your husband will leave you"
If my husband leaves me for that reason then I will happily sign the divorce papers. I put her suitcase in a corner and said "Whatever, I'm leaving bye." before I left I turned around and said the one thing on my mind "Javaria, your mom needs you. Please don't abandon her."
Javaria was silent for a while before saying "She's a big girl, she can handle it herself."
You can cover your face with fake stuff, but can you cover your heart with fake stuff?
I thought as I bitterly smiled and said "mhm." and then I left. I walked downstairs and Aabid immediately got up as soon as I came down.
He smiled at me and quickly said "Allah hafiz." to everyone and ran upstairs. We all laughed and Aabid's parents turned to me "Rayyana, how are you going home?" My smile left my face. Shoot, I didn't think of that.
"We can send you with one of our private driver's." Aabid's father said picking up his phone, before he could press anything we heard a "No need, I'll take her." My breath hitched as I watched Asad walk down the stairs wearing a maroon shalwar kameez.
Ya ALLAH sometimes I do think you picked favorites
"Perfect." Aabid's father said smiling at him. Asad looked at me and said "let's go." I gulped and said "Allah Hafiz." as I ran after Asad's tall legs.
He stopped and got into a blue BMW leaving me there wide eyed. Suddenly I bit my lip, he couldn't seriously be thinking of taking that much of an expensive car to where I live.
"Get in." He said harshly rolling down the windows "Uh do you have a less expensive car?" he smirked at me "Are you forgetting who your talking to Jaan?" I rolled my eyes and got in. Boy, my claustrophobia is not going to like this ride.
Asad started the car and we went flying, I screamed as he almost broke the gates flying out of his aunt and uncle's driveway "STOP ASAD, DRIVE SLOW!" I yelled and immediately started praying. "NO, FIRST YOU HAVE TO SAY YES TO MY PREVIOUS OFFER." previous offer? my face immediately scowled when I realized he was talking about his marriage proposal.
"NO!" I yelled back at him, he suddenly stopped making me fly forward, thankfully though my seatbelt saved me. I looked outside panting and I saw a jungle. Suddenly, I felt like I couldn't breath and I looked to Asad staring into my soul.
"Open the door." He shook his head "PLEASE." I yelled putting a hand to my chest, he frowned but opened the car door. I ran outside and breathed in the fresh air letting myself calm down.
"Rayyana." Asad almost growled as he said that, for some reason he was mad "I need you to marry me." I looked at him and sighed "What part of the word no do you not understand?" He ran a hand through his hair "Look, clearly you aren't happy in your aunt's home and I need a proper and prim wife. We both can get something out of this. and besides, don't you miss Canada?"
Yes, I missed Canada. But that was before I had found out about the messed up life that my aunt was living. Without me there she would be alone, and I couldn't do that no matter how much she hated me.
"I can't Asad, I just.. it's hard." He growled and yelled "Fine." and with a bang he closed his car door and drove off.
Flashback end
He never came back and I had to take a Riksha back, thankfully I didn't get touched anywhere inappropriately.
But that little incident back there made me trust myself that Asad is not husband material. I came home and I obviously had no money to pay the Riksha guy so I had to steal some from my uncle's wallet. I didn't feel bad because obviously he's not who I thought he was.
I came back around 1pm and I heard shouting coming from my aunt and uncles room, I stood outside waiting for a sound of a slap or something but thankfully none of that happened. I did come outside of my room at 3 to see my aunt sleeping on the sofa.
My heart ached for her but I couldn't really do anything so I quietly walked back into my room.
Coming out of my trance, I looked at my Walima dress smiling at it. At least I had one good thing to think about.
Damn, I look good.
I gathered my purse and belongings and headed to my car and drove to the hotel where the reception was being held.
Everything was going good, I had given the photographer his remaining 2,000 and we chatted for a bit, he was really nice. Much nicer then Ubaid. He taught me how to take good pictures and I jokingly said I would love to marry a photographer.
He laughed at me and then gave me this really kind of creepy stare. "Uh, you never gave me your name." I said quickly changing the subject. I also mentally rolled my eyes at myself for blushing.
Just because a guy is nice to you doesn't mean he likes you Rayyana
"Oh, my name is Mustafa." I smiled and said "Im Rayyana." He had a very basic name but I didn't mind, after all who am I to judge? He smiled and said "pretty name." I blushed and changed the subject asking about his family, he explained that his dad had passed away from lung cancer leaving just him and his mom.
I said sorry and told him about my dad and we just bonded the whole reception.
I yawned as I woke up tired from the reception last night, I put my dupatta on my head and left my room to make some tea for my aunt and uncle and coffee for myself. We were going in a little bit to Javaria's because it's tradition that the bride's family bring breakfast over the very next day of the reception.
As I put the kettle on I heard footsteps and looked up at my aunt who gave me a blank stare. I hadn't heard her or my uncle fight last night but she looked awful, obviously she hadn't been getting enough sleep.
I smiled at her and said "Assalam-O-Alaikum." she didn't say anything back and instead in a mono-tone voice said;
"Rayyana, I got a call from some guy's mom, she said his name is Mustafa and he want's to send a marriage proposal.
