chapter 9
I walk into the kitchen to help Trystan. It's a huge mess. And I mean like it's everywhere. I don't get how a person can make such a big mess while cooking boxed macaroni and cheese. He has the cheese mix all over the counter, the butter is melted and dripping on the counter. The milk, oh don't even get me started on that.
"Trystan, you can not cook boxed macaroni and cheese." I put an emphasis on the word not. I can't surpress my laughter anymore. I burst out into my weirdest laugh and I can't stop.
"Charlie!" He says, trying to get my attention, but I can't stop laughing. "Charlotte." The second he says it, all the painful memories of my mother come flooding in and all my laughter turns into sobs racking through my body.
"I-I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to get mad. It's just that we need to feed the little kids. It's kinda getting late." He rambles, still seeming a little shocked that I started crying. He just doesn't understand.
I'm sobbing so loud and my body is shaking so badly that I barely notice when someone picks me up from where I was on the floor in the kitchen and carries me to me to the living room and lies me down on a couch.
