chapter 3
It takes no more than a second after we get down the stairs for the twins to start their fight over who gets to sit next to me while we eat. It always ends with Leah's parents making her sit next to James, Leah's brother that's nine months younger than her, while Saydie and Teagan sit on either side of me.
I take slice of the hawaiian pizza from the box and James glares at me. Apparently it's his favorite kind of pizza too, but I don't think he's glaring at me because we both hog out on that kind. For some reason James Benoitt has always hated my guts. You'd think that since I've been best friends with his older sister for the past ten years, and I'm over here all the time, he'd be used to it by now. But, I guess not.
"Charlie! Will you play with me before we go to bed?" Teagan asks me, but before I have a chance to answer her, Saydie yells at her petite sister that I want to play with her, not Teagan.
Luckily, Mrs. Benoitt buts in before they start another one of their terrible twin fights. "Charlie will play with both of you or neither of you, and then you two must go to bed so the older girls can spend some time together before Charlie leaves tomorrow."
They both agree without another word and I follow them up to their bedroom.
