Chapter 4
Start of School
Charlie's POV
"We have the same classes!" Silena exclaimed. It was probably because of our parents. Silena's mom, Katie, was talking to my mom earlier. Mom was an architecture teacher at Goode High, and involved with my middle school.
I silently thanked our parents. "That's awesome! We have English first."

"Ew... this is gross." I stared at the food the cafeteria provided. Silena nodded, pulled out a cereal bar. Yeah, her grandmother always provided her with cereal.
"I was smart," Silena smirked. She ripped off half of her bar and handed it to me.
"You're a life saver."
"I know. Anyways, do you wanna do something later?"
I froze. Do something later. Like a date? "Yeah. The pool is open for a few more weeks. We can go there."
"Yeah, that'd be fun. After school?"
"Yep."
Silena's POV
What to wear? I rummaged through my clothes. I got it! I pulled out a black one piece swimsuit. It was simple, just the way I liked it. I looked around my room for a cover up, grabbing a green and pink one.
"Silena! Charlie's here!" My mom yelled from downstairs. I quickly threw on my outfit and grey flip flops, running down.
"Hey Charlie," I said as I saw him. He was wearing purple swim trunks and a blue shirt.
"Hey, you ready?" He asked. I nodded, grabbing my already made backpack, which contained a towel, my knife, and other things.

The pool wasn't very crowded, so we made our way to the deeper end. Some of the kids from school were here though. Charlie and I didn't really fit in. We usually kept to ourselves, spending time together. Rumor was going around eighth grade, saying we were dating or something. I wish it were true.
"Charlie!" I didn't see him. Where did he go?
Something wrapped around my ankles, pulling me into the water. I yelped, afraid it was some monster. I broke through the surface for air.
"Chill, Silena, it was just me." Charlie swan closer.
"How did you do that?" I gasped. "You can't control your powers well."
"I don't know. I just thought about pranking you, and the water shot out. I think... being around you makes the connection a bit stronger," he shrugged. I blushed, hoping he didn't see. Well, that's a start of something.
