Death (RP Character)

Name: Death

Age: 106

Species: Fire dragon (lava dragon to be specific)

RP Group: RP group: Fire vs Ice Dragon Group RP by ElijahCole11

Personality: He is very protective and loyal towards fire dragons- however, he is nightmarish towards everything else. He lacks empathy, remorse, and mercy when he fights those he considers an enemy. He is unable to fully understand many of the emotions he feels, so tries to sculpt things that act as an expression of his soul. He can be very cruel, and will kill for the sake of killing if he is unable to control his violent urges. However, he has an unshakeable sense of duty towards his kingdom.

Backstory: His parents were killed in a battle against ice dragons before he had hatched. An old friend of his parents decided to raise him in their place. He named him Death, and began to train him to become the perfect killing machine. He became incredibly efficient, and because of this, other fire dragons both fear and respect him.

Appearance: Absolutely enormous, very close to the maximum size a dragon can get. He is black, and his magma is closer to blood red than it is to orange. He is covered in battle scars, and powerfully muscled. From his back, he has embedded the broken bones of his deceased enemies as a sort of spiked armour, and can utilise such bones as weapons, since he also has them in his tail as spikes, and on his claws to shred more flesh. His horns are long, thick, and as black as his scales. He is blinded in one eye (which is blue), while his other eye is red.

FACTS!

-He was partially inspired by a previous Wings of Fire OC I had called Obsidian

-The fact that he never knew his parents greatly effects him- though he does not want others to know

-He had only once questioned his violent nature, when his mentor was still alive and Death was still young.

-He used to be very soft-hearted when he was a youngster- this was trained out of him.

The story so far:

Chapter 1: Not present.

Chapter 2: Death awakens from his ten-day slumber, and requests that others tell him what happened during that time. Fate, meanwhile, offers to the others an idea- kill ice dragons, or kill humans. Death agrees to come (as do others), wishing to fufill his violent urges through violent action, but wishes to know what has been happening before he does anything. Fate says Falkor was attacked by an ice dragon, and decides to hunt humans in a defenceless village, as that's what the majority wants. Falkor updates Death, who then angrily insults the ice dragons and wishes Falkor a quick recovery from his wounds. Finally, Death joins the group (as do a few others, who have a short conversation together), and they leave- followed by Molten who sneaks after them.

Death lands on a mountain near the village, watching the humans as the others lands around as well. Drakusana attacks first, thinking that no one else will so he might as well, setting fire to many houses around him. As the others attack, Death roars from his mountain, wishing to strike fear into his prey before he ended them. Molten shouts at them to stop, horrified, but all continue killing. Death lands in the village, crushing and devouring all around him. Molten continues trying to stop them, but the others completely oppose him and carry on. Suddenly, an ice dragon- Ghost- flies to the middle of the village and starts roaring. Other ice dragons appear, and start to tackle the other fire dragons. Death, after a while, decides to chase her, despite knowing he is unable to match her speed. As Ghost shot a blast of ice at Falkor, he rises and begins to follow her. Falkor calls off the attack, but Death continues chasing Ghost, ignoring him. After she shoots shards at Envy (who was attacking Molten for going against the fire dragons), the two fly upwards into the sky. Envy joins them, furious at Ghost. Just before Ghost enters the clouds, she roars and starts spinning, spewing ice shards down at the two before disappearing. Envy breathes fire and Death belches lava in an attempt to melt the shards- but one of them ends up embedding itself into his snout. Instead of continuing the chase, Envy stops and checks on Death. The two share a conversation regarding dragon ice and not being ashamed of intelligence, and leave to go back to their kingdom, for fear that if the shard of ice remains in Death's system it could become infected.

As the others arrive, Death furiously spits, angered that he did not kill as much as he wanted to. He storms off to his area and starts sculpting, sparking a curious interest from Falkor and Envy as they are surprised that such a violent dragon could be passionate towards something relating to art. Falkor points out a sculpt and asks what it is; Death explains it is an anatomically correct dragon heart, in which he carved what he thinks his parents had looked like. Envy asks permission to hold it (and the permission is granted), while the two share another conversation relating to sculptures and memories. As she leaves, Death enters the lava to hopefully disinfect the wound which Ghost gave him. Drakusana suggests hunting, which Death decides to do. Fate mentions ice dragons, and Falkor quickly leaves. Meanwhile, Death flies to the river to hunt.

There, he tracks down a huge bear while Branwen, a human, witnesses them (though Death has not noticed her). Death kills the bear by spewing lava over his back, and decapitating him. Suddenly overwhelmed by predatory instinct, he begins to tear the body apart and devour it, and does not notice the scent of Alex the dragonrider, Pangaea, Freeze (who got caught on a trap) and Branwen. However, once he finishes, he senses them, and furiously begins to track down Freeze as Branwen is trying to free her. He attacks, but they manage to fly away and escape into the clouds while he was blocked by the tree canopy. Glumly, he hunts a bit more, and then returns to the fire kingdom to rest.

Chapter 3: It is Winter, and it has hit hard for the fire dragons. Drakusana manages to dig down and causes lava to rise from the ground, making all the dragons happy. They relax, blissful. However, a storm begins to come, rising caution from all. Envy notices something moving inside, and Death stares at two orange eyes watching him from the storm. Death decides to fight, as does Drakusana, Envy, and Ciana. Pangaea leaves to warn her rider in the ice kingdom, while Fate is asleep in the volcano, but awakens from the sound. She is unsure on if she will survive at all, as she is sick, while Falkor is reluctant to fight. However, as the storm hits them, they begin to have second thoughts. They retreat to the volcano, though Death keeps watch from under the crater. Envy joins him, and they both try to get a sculpture in case it collapses.

Pangaea sees a light, and is suddenly attracted towards it. However, when it blinks, she is startled and flies away as the head of the monster attacks. She manages to escape into the volcano with the help of Envy, though is injured. The first head then goes inside the volcano with the intention of devouring everyone. Death gets in front of Pangaea and Envy, using his wings to protect them while he attacks with his lava. Envy then pulls them both into lava in a bid to save them. As Death gives Envy a grateful look, she realises Fate is in danger, as does Death. They both try to swim up from the lava, though Death knows he is not fast enough to save her.

The volcano begins to collapse. A head approaches Fate, and Death realises his nightmares are coming true. Falkor approaches Death and asks where Fate and Envy are, where he replies that Envy had gone to save Fate (as she was faster than he was). Drakusana is devoured, and Fate is crushed and eating. Death is terrified and feels tears in his eyes (something that is extremely rare). As Falkor tries to attack the monster, screaming in agony, Death grabs him and drags him away, knowing that fighting most likely meant death. Envy is horrified that she didn't save Fate in time. Drakusana escapes the monster by decapitating it from the inside. Death calls him over. Falkor states he will hold off the monster, but Death refuses to abandon him and decides to stay and fight together, despite being terrified. Falkor runs out of lava and grows weak, while Envy collapses- her hand has been ripped off. Drakusana takes Death's hand, and the volcano starts to fall in on itself. If they do not escape, then they die. Death urges Falkor to run, then quickly runs to Envy, pulling her up and trying to support her in their escape. When he sees Falkor in distress, he grabs his hand in a bid to help him get out faster. Falkor flies to the frozen lake, but is injured by rubble. Atticus escapes, as does Envy who is helping Pangaea. As the survivors reach the lake, Death is injured by rubble which breaks his tail and makes him unable to fly. He walks over, and has a breakdown, believing what happened was his fault. Atticus tries to calm him while Envy comforts him, feeling responsible for Fate's death and thinking it was her fault. Molten returns to the Fire Kingdom, and asks what's wrong- Envy is too weak to explain or attack, and merely says it's her fault Fate is dead. Molten and Envy both cry and hug each other, while the others discuss moving away from the area to stay safe. Death continues to cry, feeling responsible as he had specifically been trained to protect them, and feels as if things would have been different if he had chosen to remain away from the volcano and fought alone. He remembers his sculptures and realises 100 years of his work is gone, as he dropped his most treasured one in the chaos. However, Falkor manages to fix one while Envy has saved the other. Vesper approaches, and offers to help, as does Murdem. As they fly to safety (with different dragons trying to carry Death, as he is unable to fly and extremely massive), Death swears that, if there is a way to do so, he will kill the monster. Envy agrees, though Atticus just wants to sleep. The two thank Death for protecting them (as he believes he has failed his duty) and they try to comfort him- but he remains unconvinced and hard on himself.

They arrive at a new town, where Vesper acts as guardian and is accepted by the humans and their leaders. She explains they won't attack without provocation and actually believe fire dragons are sent by Gods. Death finds this ridiculous, but as long as they don't attack, then he won't kill them- if an alliance is formed, he would actually go out of his way to protect them. They speak to the queen, who approves of the dragons staying there.
