Umi was killed by Yato during the slaying of the Ma Clan. She was Bishamon's daughter by birth, and reborn as a human hundreds of years later with the ability to see God's and Phantoms.
Umi's reincarnation is friends with Hiyori and meets Yato through her. She has no recollection of Bishamon or anything from her previous life.
