Willow Potter/Meridian Addams

Note: I have been looking to do a rather big AU with this idea to make it a bit more mature given that Meridian is an Addams and they are all about the dark and macabre. I would age up characters slightly maybe. I have two ways to do this:

1. Student actually start Hogwarts at 14 year old and graduate at 21.

2. College/University. In the UK College is more for 16-18 year olds and University is 18 +, so the seven school years would cover both of these, with the students starting at 16 years old and they would graduate at 23.

As the wizarding world has some 'traditional' aspects, then calling Hogwarts a wizarding college with the students starting at 14 could still work and graduating at 21 makes more sense than 23, life stage wise.

Bio:

Meridian Addams, born Willow Potter, was born on 31 July 1980, along with her twin brother Harry, to James and Lily Potter (née Evans), two members of the original Order of the Phoenix at the height of the First Wizarding War, only hours after her classmate-to-be Neville Longbottom.

Lily and James went into hiding in late 1979 when they discovered she was pregnant. When Meridian and Harry were born, Lily held a christening; it was quiet and quick, with only James, Lily, Meridian, Harry, and Sirius Black in attendance. Meridian spent her infancy in hiding with her parents and brother in the Potter cottage at Godric's Hollow in the West Country, England.

For Meridian's first birthday, Sirius bought her a toy raven. In Lily's letter to Sirius, it mentioned that this had been Meridian's favourite present.

Lily and James also hosted a very quiet birthday tea. The only ones in attendance were Meridian, Harry, and Bathilda Bagshot. Bathilda also used to dote on the infants. The Potters owned a cat, but it is unknown what happened to it after Voldemort's attack.

To keep them safe from Lord Voldemort, who had marked them for death after hearing of a prophecy regarding her downfall at the hands of a child born at the end of July in 1980, Albus Dumbledore suggested they use the Fidelius Charm. Dumbledore even offered to be the Potter's Secret Keeper, but the Potters had planned to make the twin's godfather Sirius Black their Secret Keeper instead. On Sirius' advice, they changed this designation to Peter Pettigrew, who they thought would be less suspicious. In a terrible turn of fate, Pettigrew was a spy and Death Eater for Voldemort and barely a week later betrayed the Potter's and gave up their whereabouts.

On the evening of Hallowe'en in 1981, Lord Voldemort arrived at Godric's Hollow and murdered James and Lily. He murdered James first, who tried to distract the Dark Lord; unfortunately, he did not have his wand with him and was killed immediately. Voldemort then advanced on Lily, who died trying to protect Meridian and Harry. Her sacrifice prevented the Killing Curse from working on Harry and Meridian, resulting in her love for the twins becoming a barrier to protecting them. When Voldemort attempted the curse on the twins it backfired on the caster and instead of murdering Harry, Voldemort lost all his powers and his physical form was obliterated.

Rubeus Hagrid rescued Meridian and Harry from the house, partially destroyed by Voldemort's faulty killing curse, and was given specific orders from Albus Dumbledore to take them to their aunt and uncle. As Hagrid left, he was intercepted by Sirius Black, a close friend of the Potters, who pleaded for Hagrid to give the babies to him, as he was the chosen guardian in the event of James and Lily's death. Hagrid refused, saying that he was under orders from Dumbledore to take them to their relatives. Sirius, though reluctant, relented and gave Hagrid his flying motorcycle to take the babies to Privet Drive, just as Hagrid was about to take off, Sirius snatched Meridian from Hagrid's arms and apparated away, not giving Hagrid time to react.

Sirius, not wanting to put Meridian in harm's way, wrapped her in a blanket with the name Willow on, and stored her away, safe for his return before he left to find Peter Pettigrew, who subsequently faked his death and framed Sirius for his death and the death of twelve Muggles.

Meridian was found by muggles who wrongly assumed that she'd been abandoned and placed her into an orphanage. Renamed Janey Smith in their system.

A year later, on their honeymoon, and taking a tour of all the orphanages in the UK, Morticia and Gomez Addams were instantly drawn to Meridian when they witnessed her bringing a dead baby bird back to life. Smitten. The pair decided then and there to adopt the child and considered Meridian the perfect wedding gift to themselves. They officially adopted her as Meridian Addams.

Morticia and Gomez doted on Meridian, giving her anything she could ever need whilst raising her in an unorthodox macabre environment with other members of their family including Grandmama, Cousin Itt, Uncle Fester, Thing, and Lurch.

Morticia and Gomez would receive a letter from Albus Dumbledore at some point in Meridian's childhood informing them just who she is. Far from disheartened, they just loved Meridian more, loving that she had a tragic backstory.

A few years later, Morticia and Gomez had children of their own. Pugsly, Wednesday, and Pubert. Morticia and Gomez's love and adoration of Meridian never wavered though, and they still believe that she is their greatest gift.

Personality:

Meridian has a very mysterious, ruthless and coy personality and gives off a very "I don't care" kind of air around her.

Meridian is very caring and compassionate; specifically towards her family.

She is confident and sarcastic. She also seems to have a sadistic composure and a darker sense of humor.

Despite being seen upset multiple times, Meridian has told Wednesday that 'We don't get sad, we get mad'. She always entertains whatever sadistic ideas Wednesday or Pugsley may have and is even excited when torture is suggested. It is even implied that she is partially a sadomasochist, remarking about how she "likes pain".

She is profoundly loyal to her family and whatever decisions that they make, even pushing for Wednesday to do whatever makes her happy.

Meridian has and keeps many pets. Birds, Spiders, Snakes, Frogs, Toads, Rats, Mice, Scorpions and Cats are among those most frequently seen. It is possible that many of these she has rescued.

There are also a number of family pets, including Kitty Kat, a male African lion.

Pairing: Ron Weasley and Draco Malfoy

- This will be a Ron and Draco pairing. I will try and write it equally for both guys and then towards the last book/film put up a vote for who you prefer her to be with. If the vote comes up equal enough, then I will go back and write a second version with the other pairing.

- I am open to doing just one pairing if you guys would prefer that.

Magic and Abilities

"You have no idea how dangerous you are. You're supposed to be a myth. A being capable of spirit magic, and here you are"

Magical mastery: Meridian was born with latent magical abilities. Even at a young age, Meridian proved herself to be a precariously gifted magical prodigy, as she was able to utilise and control magic, albeit Spirit magic, to an unnaturally high level: she had a power to move objects with her mind, create rain and lightning, start fires, and bring the recently deceased back to life.

Meridian will be a talented student, one of the best, showing skill and excelling in all of her classes, though she excels and has a natural gift for:

- Apparition/Teleportation: Meridian will be able to teleport to any place, as long as she knows where she is going, leaving behind a trail of black smoke as she does. She will be the first of her year to master this ability, seemingly having a natural ability and proficiently.

- Control of Underage magic: Even at a young age, Meridian displayed an exceptional degree of control over her usage of underage magic.

- Legilimency: Meridian will be an extremely accomplished Legilimens. She can relatively easily look deep down into the story of someone if she really wanted to. However, an Occlumens of immense power is able to fully conceal his or her true thoughts from her. According to Morticia, Meridian has a natural talent at Legilimency and does not need any training at all. However, she claims that Meridian has "trouble" in controlling it at times.

- Occlumency: Meridian will learn to effectively shield her own mind from others. She had no thought to do so as a child, more interested in being inside other people's minds instead of blocking her own off from other legilimens. This made it difficult for her to lie to Morticia, who is herself a very powerful legilimens.

- Parseltongue: Much like Harry, and Voldemort, Meridian is a Parselmouth, though she seems to have no reason to be. She does not have a piece of Voldemort's soul inside of her. Dumbledore will theorize that it is a side effect of her legilimency, that her mind reading ability is so strong that when she communicates with animals via thought, she 'downloads' their languages, meaning she instantly learnt parseltongue whilst using legilimency on a snake.

- Bird Song: Possibly similar to how she acquired parseltongue, Meridian is capable of producing numerous bird songs through whistling.

- Flying: Much like her brother, and her father, Meridian inherited her father's talent for flying and for Quidditch. When she was younger, Pugsley dared her to try and use Grandmama's broom to fly, Meridian took the broom up the roof and jumped off, showing a natural gift and instinct, immediately knowing how to fly.

- Electricity Manipulation: With training and experience, Meridian will be able turn a light on and off with her hand.

- Weather Manipulation: With training and experience, Meridian will have some level of weather manipulation. She has been seen using this even before attending Hogwarts, as she has made it rain and cracked lightening at moments through her childhood.

- Fire Manipulation: With training and experience, Meridian will be able to light and douse candles, fireplaces, etc with a wave of her hand. As a child, when she was upset, she accidentally set the library curtains on fire.

Animagus: Meridian will become an animagus.

Spirit Magic Manipulation: Able to harness Spirit Magic, Meridian is a being capable of healing and resurrection. Dumbledore believes this is more than just because of close contact with the killing curse, and likely that Meridian is linked to Voldemort on a magical level, much like Harry is linked to him on a spiritual level. Though Meridian is not a horcrux herself. This magic appears as an almost invisible grey smoke.

Spirit magic is an incredibly rare form of magic, having only been wielded by a couple of witches and wizards in modern times, it is so rare that the Ministry of Magic denies that it is a real form of magic, and has cast it off as myth. Voldemort was the last known practitioner before Meridian. Other practitioners include: Salazar Slytherin, Merlin, and Grindelwald. It is a magic art that is usually associated with Dark Magic and believed to be an evolved version of Dark Magic.

- Telekinesis: Meridian has the ability to move, levitate and otherwise manipulate objects using her spirit magic. She uses this energy to affect and control molecules and particles, allowing her to fully control matter and energy. Meridian first showed this ability when arguing with Wednesday and a row of potion bottles flew through the air smashing against a wall. Her telekinesis is powerful enough to break bones and tear muscles and even hurl cars.

- Conjuration: With training and experience, with a snap of her fingers, Meridian will be able to summon anything she desires, though there are certain items, usually of magical origin (e.g. horcruxes) that she cannot summon.

- Enhanced Healing: Meridian can restore biotic organisms to their optimal health, curing damaged or withered organisms, wounds, broken bones, low vitality, and diseases/poisoning. Instead of needing a wand or an incantation, Meridian is capable of healing with a simple thought, simply by hovering her hand over a wound.

- Resurrection/Resurgence: Meridian has the power to bring the deceased back to life. Whilst young, Meridian's resurrection powers are still emerging and considered weak in comparison to what Dumbledore believes might be in her power scope. So far, Meridian has only been seen resurrecting birds and once a cat. Often, the strain of this ability would cause her to faint, but over time, her talent will progress to allow her to retain consciousness after resurrecting someone.

- Ghost Companionship: Meridian can form sacred and powerful friendships with ghosts. Ghosts find themselves drawn to Meridian and often are quick to protect and care for her and even assist her if she needs it.

Abilities:

Chess/Wizarding Chess: Gomez taught Meridian how to play muggle and magical chess.

Swordsmanship: Gomez started teaching Meridian how to use a sword from a young age.

Multilingualism: Meridian is fluent in Italian and French having grown up with her parents often using phrases from both languages, she is capable of speaking and writing in both, this is likely also a result of her legilimency, in the same way she learnt parseltongue and bird songs. She also speaks and writes in Latin. And is currently learning Russian. She also claims to be able to speak and read Greek and Western Aramaic.

Ballet: Encouraged by Morticia when Meridian showed an interest, Meridian excelled at and loves ballet.

Art: A very talented artist.

Poetry: Meridian is a very talented poet.

Belongings:

Wand: 12 inch yew wand with a Thestral tail hair core.

Vaz: Vaz is a dæmon, a mysterious shapeshifting creature. Not much is known about these creatures as they so easily blend in within the muggle and wizarding worlds due to their abilities to mimic any animal species. Dæmons are known to share the same dreams as their owners and form telepathic links to their owners. A dæmon can shapeshift into any kind of animal. This change could be due to emotion, need for a particular skill such as night-vision, or simply a whim. Frequent changing of forms and a wide variety of forms are generally thought to be a good indicator of intelligence in a dæmon and its connected owner. Vaz has a select number of favoured forms, but as he is still considered young, having only been with Meridian for a year, means that he has yet to come into his full spectrum. His favourites seem to be: White wolf, red fox, black and white cat, smooth green snake and great horned owl.

I like the idea of including familiars, so that pets are a lot more present in Hogwarts. Whilst it is not a necessary thing, most young witches and wizards find one in their first or second year. These animals forge stronger and more powerful connections to their magical user. Whilst Vaz is telepathically linked to Meridian, this is not a familiar thing, however, familiars share empathic links with their owners. Familiars are also far more domesticated meaning that students could have something considered dangerous.

I know that Draco has an owl in books, but I think I would make it Narcissa's familiar, and then give Draco his own. Ideas welcome for what you think he would have, also what you think Lucius would have. Ideas for Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday, and anyone else you would like to see with a familiar and what you think they would have.

Family Trivia:

- The Addams family is a very old wizarding family, even older than the Sacred 28. Though not considered part of that specific list. Gomez claims it is because of a Great Aunt Muggle. Implying that he has a great aunt that is a muggle and likely married into the family which would have taken them from the list at some point, though it was likely a lot earlier than that.

- The Frump family is a member of the Sacred 28. And are noted to be the only family that hasn't wed into or with another family from the Sacred 28. Because those married have married only into at least 4th generation witches or wizards, they are still considered to be a pure blood family.

- Gomez was sorted into Gryffindor.

- Morticia was sorted into Slytherin. She is a talented Legilimens.

Home:

The Addams Family Mansion: The mansion is a condemned building (According to Morticia, it has actually been condemned five times), formerly an Asylum, in Whitechapel, London. The interior has various dangerous objects and odd statues. The entrance gate (nicknamed, appropriately, "Gate") is overgrown with foliage. A cemetery is found right next to the house, and there are various secret rooms and passages. The mailbox and door knockers seem to be alive. When Gomez and Morticia first moved in as the home's owners (though Gomez and Grandmama had been residents even before then), they thought it was haunted. They regret that it wasn't, "but you can't have everything." But the existence of the ghost of Aunt Minerva proves otherwise (though she may have "moved in" just recently). It's also mentioned that the home is made of titanium instead of wood (and is consequently bomb-proof), has 26 – 30 (or maybe more) rooms -- if Fester has made a new addition with his cannon-- and the house has apparently been in the family for centuries. The area surrounding the house can be described briefly as a wasteland, with swamps, a moat, and the like. The address is 1313 Cemetery Lane, Whitechapel, London.

The interior of the house seems to be disproportionately bigger than the outside view suggests. Many runaway guests have become completely lost in what seem to be dozens of rooms, hallways and staircases. The house is also filled with deathtraps carefully or carelessly positioned by Fester, Meridian, or Wednesday, deadly beasts, deadly plants, booby traps, explosives and whatnot.

Draco: Quite nice of you coming to my rescue like that.

Meridian: You know, it's a good thing you didn't actually steal the book from me, or I'd have been the one torturing you.

Draco: Does that mean you trust me then?

......

Meridian: Is the hand holding really necessary?

Draco: I mean, we could make out but would that not be entirely distracting?

......

Meridian: Are you okay?

Draco: Oh, a bit lightheaded. It might have had something to do with being knocked arse over teacup by dear old dad.

.....

"I feel something...something wonderful. I believe you call it...Hate"

Meridian: Nope.

Meridian: I don't know, me and Rapunzel?

Meridian: And a crossbow!

.....

Harry: It's funny how you two became best friends. Didn't she hate you at first?
