"I'm a consulting detective. One of only two in the world. I invented the job." ― Sherlock to John Watson
Victoria Holmes (born Victory Adora Holmes) was born on 6th January 1983 and spent her early childhood at Musgrave Hall, the Holmes family home located somewhere in the countryside. She was raised by her mother (a genius mathematician), alongside her father, who describes himself as 'something of a moron' compared to his wife. She grew up with her twin brother, Sherlock, and her older brother Mycroft (seven years her senior), who Victoria in later years claims would belittle him and try to frighten him with stories of 'the East Wind'. She also had a younger sister named Eurus (one year her junior).
Victoria has a keen interest in unusual or bizarre crimes and targets, without which she rapidly becomes bored, relying on cocaine and sex to keep her brain active.
Victoria is a thinker and an observer; her incredible ability to notice and draw deductions from seemingly trivial details is her primary tool for solving crimes and for gathering information on her targets.
Victoria claims on more than one occasion to be a "high-functioning sociopath". However, according to Jim Moriarty, as well as Victoria's own actions and displays of emotion and empathy, this may not be true. Victoria does not seem to exhibit any of the symptoms of an anti-social personality disorder.
Victoria also has Synesthesia. a condition in which one sense (for example, sight) is simultaneously perceived as if by one or more additional senses such as sight. Another form of synesthesia, the kind Victoria has joins objects such as letters, shapes, numbers or people's names with a sensory perception such as smell, color or flavor. Victoria sees see colors on sounds, letters or numbers.
Life as a Ballerina:
At age 10, Victoria applied to a position for the Royal Academy of Dance. Although she didn't have any technique or formal education, her intense performance impressed and convinced them she had a natural gift for ballet. As a dedicated student, Victoria had excellent grades until the very end of her education and was very active in the political studies at the Academy.
In her late teens, Victoria was chosen as the leading dancer of her class. Her unanimous talent got the attention of Sonya Moroyeva, a 22 years old ballet student who craved for a promotion. Intending to sabotage Victoria's career, Sonya convinced her boyfriend Finn to injure Victoria's foot at their regular practice. When working in pairs, Finn intentionally stepped hard on Victoria's foot, causing a Lisfranc Injury that paralyzed her career. Victoria realized the accident was actually planned by Sonya thanks to the girl's guilty face.
Right after this catastrophic event, Victoria met a man called Konstantin. Konstantin Egorov offered Victoria a job for the Secret Service (SVR). She accepted it without knowing any details about the job.
Two days later, Victoria went back to the academy to talk to the doctor and take her belongings. She was no longer a ballerina of Royal Academy of Dance. Sitting on a bench, she saw Sonya and Finn heading to the steam room. Victoria realized the rumors about their relationship were true, so she followed the couple seeking for revenge. She knew sexual intercourses were prohibited at the academy, so she got the staff's attention by opening a window and turning the lights on. A few minutes later, the governess caught Sonya and Finn naked in the steam room. Victoria felt proud of her successful revenge, yet surprised by her own cold blood.
Life as a spy and assassin:
Victoria's first job for the SVR was a black operation (secret operation not attributable to the organization performing it) to perform the assassination of Dimitri Ustinov, a billionaire politician whose interests were in conflict with the state's. Victoria didn't know Ustinov was going to be killed, in fact, she knew little about the operation. She was sent by the SVR to a television station purposely to meet Ustinov and get a date with him. She successfully got a date with the man, being told that the main objective of the operation was to obtain relevant information about his schedules and contacts. Victoria knew sexual encounters were an implicit demand of the job so she managed to keep Ustinov interested in her; it didn't take long for him to take Victoria to his home. The two were laying on Ustinov's rotative bed, when a man wearing black slowly descended from the room's skylight. The assassin, who Victoria found out later to be Sergey Matorin, strangled Ustinov using a wire, leaving Victoria covered in blood.
Konstantin planned to give Victoria a minor bureaucratic job at the SVR so they could keep eyes on her, otherwise, she would be killed as well. But Victoria herself explained that she rather be an intelligence officer instead. Konstantin didn't like the idea at first, but thinking about how he could take advantage of her potential success, he accepted it.
Victoria entered the Academy of Foreign Intelligence (AVR) and started her training period to become an intelligence officer. There, she had theoretical classes about the history of Russia, about secret services, Cold War and the URSS. Being the only woman out of 13 students, Victoria had to share the location's single bathroom with her male colleagues. One day, during her bath, one of them tried to rape her in the shower. Being forced against the wall, she remembered that the water tap of the shower was loose, so she managed to take it and used it to hit the man on his eye. The student was expelled, and even though Victoria's reaction was considered self-defense, the academy council cogitated expelling her from the academy as well. Konstantin Egorov used his influence to intervene in the council's decision and Victoria continued her studies at the academy, but from that moment on, her colleagues started to ignore Victoria and call her a "hysterical woman".
Later she was sent to the practical classes, which consisted of simulations of meeting with agents as well as how to create strategies of recruitment and writing coded messages. Victoria was a dedicated student, always showing a lot of energy, she had great physical capacity as well as a great memory for details regarding the operations. She learned how to operate in the streets of Yasenevo with retired coaches who admired her for her quick movements. She was also trained in psychology of collecting data with an instructor called Mikhail, with whom she had a brief affair.
Close to its end, Victoria's training was interrupted by Konstantin, who suddenly revealed she was going to be sent to a different training program so she could join an operation led by Colonel Simyonov (chief of the Fifth Department). She was curious to know about her new training, but soon she felt outraged when she realized she was going to be a student of the Kon Institute, also known as the Sparrow School.
The training program of the Sparrow School consisted of long lectures on anatomy, physiology, and psychology of the human sexual response. Students also learned about hundreds of sex positions and movements and had practical classes on how to behave, which included how to walk, how to dress and how to elicit information during conversations.
During her training period at the Sparrow School, Victoria developed a friendship with her colleague Anya. Anya was the most vulnerable trainee as she couldn't cope with the toughest aspects of the training that demanded exposure and sexual encounters. Victoria became a supportive figure to Anya, but the girl succumbed to the pressure of the school and committed suicide, which made Victoria feel quite guilty.
Right after finishing her training at the Sparrow School, Victoria was loaned out to the KGB where she made a name for herself, becoming one of the most dangerous assassins working for them.
She was eventually loaned out to the Red Room as a consulting instructor, where she first met Natasha Romanoff, Yelena Belova, Melina Vostokoff, and Alexei Shostakov. Whilst there, Natasha and Yelena came to look up to Victoria as an older sister.
In 2003, Victoria met NYPD's Captain Tommy Gregson and began a relationship with him, Tommy would come to rely on Victoria's mind to help him with his cases, whilst unaware that she was an assassin for hire.
Victoria is eventually kidnapped by the perp that Tommy was trying to capture, she was saved by the NYPD but Tommy told her that their relationship held too many risks and he wouldn't risk her life, choosing his job over Victoria, Tommy broke up with her.
"But what we do, it's not a job. It's a calling. We were born to do this work." - Victoria to Sherlock.
Victoria then went on to consult for many NYPD departments but has a fondness for working with the SVU because of her own experiences and her fondness for Olivia Benson, who Victoria claims is one of her only friends.
"She's a pain in the ass. But she's also very, very good." - Olivia
Physical Appearance:
Victoria's natural look depicts her as having long honey-like blonde hair with hazel-colored eyes and stands at 5' 8". Whenever on missions, she would often wear a wig to depict herself as a brunette with a fringe. Victoria's best feature is that she is very fashionable and spends most of the money she earns from her kills on clothes that are expensive and to her personal taste. During each contract killing that she completes, she would choose which outfits she would wear for the occasion. However, she would also often wear different clothes in her daily life, and most of them are outlandish and extravagant. On one occasion, during her psychological assessment, she wore a pink prom dress while wearing boots.
Personality:
Perhaps Victoria's most noticeable trait is her proneness to boredom. She is continuously agitated by the lack of work, describing peace as "hateful". Even if a target is offered to her, she won't take it unless she finds it sufficiently attractive (though it is worth noting that she seems to lower her standards as she gets more desperate). In the absence of work that meets her criteria, she will go to extreme lengths to keep herself occupied, such as repeatedly shooting the wall of her home with live rounds and partaking in orgies.
Victoria has a major manipulative streak and will often take advantage of people to get her way.
Victoria possesses a cold brutality under her innocent-looking exterior. Contentedly living outside any human moral code, Victoria kills with flair, recklessness and absolutely no conscience.
She can be adorable, playful, funny, frightening, warm, chilling, vulnerable, and impenetrable. She's trouble – and she takes great pleasure in pushing the boundaries with her eternally patient handler Konstantin.
Paid with a lifestyle; a comfortable living expense, her own apartment and a wardrobe to literally kill for, Victoria glides freely through the streets of London and New York, an understated beauty who can be both breath-taking and anonymous.
Her instruction is to, without question, assassinate individuals around the world. She doesn't care how many people have to die; this has bought her a lifestyle she loves.
She seems to have a sense of humour, though it is very sarcastic and can be quite dark. Victoria is amused, most notably, by the stupidity of others in comparison to herself.
One quality that Victoria lacks entirely is tact, which is one of the main reasons that she is disliked so heavily by so many people. She often doesn't notice when her accurate deductions about other people's personal lives offend them.
Victoria is the most protective towards the people she is close to, however.
At times, Victoria can possess a childlike behavior, throwing quiet tantrums whenever things aren't going her way and also playing practical jokes on people she comes across. She takes great pleasure in pushing the boundaries with her eternally patient handler Konstantin. Victoria carries almost an innocent persona, wide-eyed and bright, finding humor in otherwise dark situations.
"I'm known to be quite vexing, I'm just forewarning you." - Victoria
