Confession
(Reader's P.O.V.)
Shadow returned from G.U.N.'s base empty-handed, Misfortune was a fake name. After Shadow had returned I thought back on what Mischief had said. "There are two ways to win this game, 'kill' me or become like her." His words still echo in my head like a broken record. If Shadow kills Mischief, my curse might disappear. But what will happen when it does? Do I just return to normal or will I die because I was already dead? "(Y/N)!" I snap out of my thoughts to see a very angry Shadow. His angry face subsides and he gives a sigh, "I've been calling your name for the past hour. Were you lost in thought?" "I was... Shadow I don't like this game Mischief came up with." "You're calling him that again? The name Misfortune may not have come up but it could still very well be his name." "Something tells me it's not. I get the feeling he doesn't want people to know his real name." He sits down beside me on the couch, placing a hand on my shoulder and turning me to face him. "What about his game don't you like?" "Many things... First, the fact that you're being forced to play or die. Second, if there are two ways to win the game... Wouldn't that mean there are ways to lose the game too? Another concern of mine has to do with the ways to win. If you kill him, it's possible you might kill me too and if you become like me... You'll have to go through what I went through. Watching as time goes on while you're unable to move forward. Sometimes becoming a monster because you refuse to hurt others. Becoming an unwilling killer. Do you really think this is okay?" By the time I finished my spiel, I was in tears. Suddenly I was pulled forward. Arms wrapped around my shoulders as I cried into his chest. It was only now that it hit me. Over the time that the two of us had spent together, I fell in love with him. As I sat there crying in his chest fur, I lightly whispered the words I locked tight in my heart.

I pulled her to my chest as she started crying. I wish I knew the way out of this but, it's too late to turn back now. As she cries in my chest I hear it. "I love you, Shadow..." It was so quiet I almost couldn't hear it. I smiled at her words as I held her to my chest. She finally stopped crying and ended up falling asleep on me. "I love you too, (Y/N)..."
