*RECAP OF PREVIOUS EVENTS*

-Shadow the Hedgehog was confronted by Black Doom, the leader of the Black Aliens (an alien race that comes to Earth every 50 years on the Black Comet). Black Doom claims that if Shadow helps him collect the seven Chaos Emeralds, he will tell Shadow of his origins, for Shadow has amnesia. Shadow eventually learns that he was created by Dr. Gerald Robotnik; the grandfather of Dr. Ivo Robotnik, aka Dr. Eggman (Sonic the Hedgehog's greatest enemy). While creating Shadow, Gerald Robotnik was helped by Black Doom, using his own blood- making Shadow part-Black Alien. After many revelations and self-realizations, Shadow concludes that Black Doom was just using him to take over the Earth. Shadow finds himself in a final battle against Black Doom. In his victory, Shadow sends the Black Comet back to space, where the Eclipse Cannon, a cannon powerful enough to blow up the Earth in one plasma shot, was waiting to obliterate the comet...

A Few Moments Later...

"He did it. I always saw good in Shadow."

"Really? Because I didn't."

From their spaceship/home hybrid, the members of Team Chaotix, Espio the Chameleon, Charmy Bee, and Vector the Crocodile, watched the Black Comet leave Earth's atmosphere.

"He just saved the whole planet!" said Espio, the ninja, voice of reason, and calmest of the group

"Yeah, I know. CHARMY! Where's the popcorn?! This comet will explode soon!" said Vector, the fearless leader, strongarm with a big head, yet is no meathead when it comes down to accessing information (virtually).

Suddenly, a steaming bag of freshly-made popcorn, soars across the room, and hits Vector on the head.

"There you go, you big, overgrown, gecko!" Charmy exclaimed; he is the youngest and brashest of the group, but has the best eye of the trio, with a strong skill in finding/locating items of interest.

"Why you little-"

Espio snapped his fingers to draw attention, "Uh, the comet is slowing down."

"And?"

"Which means, if it stops-" Espio trailed off, noticing the comet did stop moving, "Err, the comet will blow up and the large debris will strike the Earth!"

The chameleon was now intently focused beyond the glass wall, "Wait...It's moving again?...No...The gravitational pull of the earth is bringing it back to the surface!"

Just then, the ship's intruder alarm starts to go off. Espio, Charmy, and Vector turn towards the door and are in a fighting stance. Through the cracks of the door, a yellow light flashes multiple times, as are loud banging sounds are heard. On the last sound, the alarm system goes silent.

Espio readies a small blade, a shuriken, for whoever walks in. He flinched slightly when an outward dent appeared on the door, as if hit. Then another and another.

Finally, the door breaks down, and smoke creeps into the room, but no one is seen. Espio turns invisible for a few seconds, and when he reappears, he is in front of the broken down door, and holds his blade up, ready to throw it. A footstep is then heard, and with lightning reflexes, Espio goes to throw it, but his hand is slapped away, making the blade hit a wall. The smoke clears a little bit, revealing a silhouette of the interloper.

"Expecting someone else?" the figure asked.

The voice was familiar to Espio. He steps back and gives space for the intruder to walk pass. Walking through the vanishing smoke, was Shadow the Hedgehog.

"The Eclipse Cannon is locked. It only recognizes human fingerprints."

Charmy let out a scoff, "Racists."

"We might have an alternative!" Vector responded, as he activated a cannon.

The center of the floor opens up, and a platform with a large purple firearm rises from it.

"That's right! The M.W.C.! I know 'C' means 'cannon'...I don't remember the rest. But we saved it for moments like this. We have to use it wisely, it's powerful enough for only one use. The energy used will fry it's systems." Espio stated.

"So, it's a one-hit wonder?" queried Shadow.

"Well, yeah...But, biggest difference is that this will actually go down in history, baby!" Vector defended.

"I'm going to do my best to work it into my amnesia."

"But, I thought it was only retrograde amnesia?" Charmy now.

"I'm sorry, who are you?"

"I'm Char-"

"Forget it, I don't care."

"Is forgetting all you know how to do?"

Shadow shot a menacing glare at Charmy.

He went to speak, but decided to bite his tongue and get back on topic, "What are we waiting for? Vector, fire it up!"

Vector hopped excitedly over to a wall and flicked a switch. The glass barrier of the ship opens up, giving way for Vector to fire.

"If there's one thing humans don't got on us is the ability to survive in space!" Charmy exclaimed.

"Technically, we're aliens. We're from Planet Mobius." said Espio.

"Planet what?" Shadow asked.

"Sorry, you have amnesia, and 'you don't care!'" mocked Charmy.

"Kid, one more peep out of your mouth and I'll be sure you get the amnesia next!"

"Retrograde or anterograde? Because I'd prefer the former. Wait, do you even know the difference? Or did you forget that too? What did they even teach you all those years ago? Were you even potty-trained?"

"SHUT YOUR M-"

"Uhhhh, guys? I'm clicking the trigger and nothing is happening!" Vector panicked.

Unannounced, a small red ship hovered in close to theirs. Piloting it was Miles "Tails" Prower. Standing on the wing of the ship, was Sonic the Hedgehog.

"Hey, what's the hold up?" calls Sonic.

"I don't need you fools to check on me!" Shadow hissed.

"The comet is beginning to pierce the atmosphere!" said Tails, from the cockpit of the ship.

Feeling pressured and overwhelmed, Vector leaves the platform and while flailing an arm in the air, he accidentally knocked Charmy to the floor next to the cannon.

"Vector, what are-"

"I can't do this, Espio. The button's broken...Besides, what if I miss?"

"That's what the reticle is for, to aim."

"But you gotta consider the wind too, it's-"

"Vector...'Wind,' really? We're in space."

"Yeah, but-"

A soft release of air came from outside, as Tails peeked his head out the window, "We're running low on time here!"

"Well that's another thing, none of ya will shut up!" bantered Vector.

Shadow frowned in confusion at this, "No one was even talking to you! Use your- oh, that's right: crocodiles don't have ears."

"At least I look like a crocodile! What hedgehog looks like that," Vector shot back, gesturing his hands to Shadow's body, then to pointing to Sonic, "Or that?"

"Hey, why am I in this?" frowned the blue hedgehog.

"That's what you get for not minding your damn business!" Shadow again.

Everyone proceeded to argue, while Charmy had just recomposed himself. As he pushes himself up, insults and potential one-liners immediately spawn in his mind, but then notices something in a small gap of the cannon's machinery.

He peeks through it, and finds a switch. Due to his small size, his fingers were able to fit in the gap with no trouble. He flicks the switch, and hears a sharp "ding!" Everybody stops arguing, and turn their attention to Charmy.

"Somebody's cake is finished." Sonic quipped.

"We don't own an oven...Wait, oven! Microwave!" Espio lit up.

Everyone stares at Espio in great confusion.

"We're on the brink of an apocalypse and here we're thinking of kitchen appliances. I suppose you all do deserve this fate then." said Shadow.

"No, I remember now. The 'M.W.' means 'Microwave.' We needed a radioactive power source to power this. But, it couldn't be anything nuclear, unless we wanted the cannon to implode at the pull of the trigger." said Espio.

"Try it again, there's no time!" Sonic demanded.

"Let me handle this. I'm the best at working a firearm here!" Shadow remarked.

"Normal hedgehogs can't do that either..." mumbled Vector.

Everyone made way for Shadow as he walked towards the cannon. He grabbed a hold of the handles and aimed towards the now-burning comet. The Black Comet already breached the atmosphere, seconds away from touchdown with the Earth's surface.

Shadow clicked the trigger, but again, nothing fired. Repetitive clicking was heard as he continued trying. He scowled back to Team Chaotix.

"What's that red light blinking?" noticed Sonic.

Shadow looked to the side and there was a small light blinking with a button above it, and some scribbled text that read, "Safety Lock."

Shadow clicked it and took aim again, "The Safety Lock was on."

"And you didn't notice that?" asked Espio.

"Well I didn't know this cannon had-"

"'We're on the brink of an apocalypse' and here you claim to be the best at firearms, but you didn't even check the Safety Lock?" shunned Sonic.

"I am so sick of everyone TAUNTING ME! DO ANY OF YOU WANT TO-"

"ONE MINUTE 'TIL TOUCHDOWN!" Tails cried.

"JUST SHOOT IT SHADOW!" everyone panicked.

Shadow jerked the gun around to aim inside the ship, "Say the magic word!"

"Shadow, are you insane?!" said Sonic.

Shadow then swerved it around again to Tails' ship, "Oh, you don't even know it. What's the magic word?"

"PLEASE!" Charmy exclaimed.

But, Shadow nodded in disapproval, "I can't hear everyone...What was it?"

"PLEASE!" everyone now.

"Ah, that's better."

Shadow pulled the cannon back over to aim outside. He took careful aim at the center of the comet. He inhaled and the click of the trigger was heard. After a few seconds of charge, in a blink of an eye, a red laser beam shot towards the comet. The comet slowed down, glowed red, and blew up into thousands of pieces across space and Earth's orbit.

Breaths of relied were taken and cheers were shared.

"We may have won, but now we have to worry about the debris falling towards Earth." Espio reminded everyone.

"Everyone within a 100 mile radius from Westopolis is evacuated elsewhere. They'll be fine." said Shadow.

"ENGINE!!!!" Charmy screams.

Everyone looked out into space, and saw a large ship engine, hurtling towards them.

"Computer, activate the Atmosphere Barrier! Everyone else, brace for impact!"

Before the barrier went on, the engine had already hit Sonic's ship, both colliding into Team Chaotix's ship. What is now a giant scrap metal wreck, begins to fall down to Earth. Once the ship broke through the atmosphere, the barrier disappeared.

"PREPARE FOR A CRASH LANDING!" Vector yelled.

"I THINK THAT'S OBVIOUS ENOUGH!" Charmy yelled back.

"CHAAARRRRRMYYYYYYYYYY!"

After sirens going off, engines blowing up, and Charmy's constant crying, the ship crash landed on concrete, creating a large pothole.

There is no movement, no sign of life in the trash pile, nothing. Suddenly, a hand breaks through, followed by a magenta figure. It was Espio.

"Ugh, I have a damn headache...which reminds me, now that I'm on Earth, I can head to Wal-Mart and pick up my prescription."

He stands up, and when turning around, he finds himself in a parking lot. He looks around to find, that, conveniently, he is at Wal-Mart. He smiles, and starts to head inside to see if anyone was there. Following Espio, was the rest of the gang, crawling out from the scrap pile.

"NOOOO!!!! Our beautiful home!" Vector cried.

Vector goes to hug Charmy for comfort, but is then kicked in the eye by the feisty bee.

"That's for hitting me!" bursted Charmy.

"If it wasn't for me hitting you, we'd be dead!" Vector snapped back.

"WELL THEN THANK YOU!"

"YOU'RE WELCOME!"

Espio walked passed an observing squirrel:

"I don't know those guys. They're nuts."

Shadow stands up, dusts himself off, and when he begins to walk away as if nothing happened, he is stopped by Sonic and Tails.

"Hey Shadow! You up for a race?" Sonic asked.

Shadow smirks at Sonic's offer, for they always have a good race, no matter who wins.

"Not now. I have other things to worry about." Shadow replied.

"Where you going?" Tails questioned.

"There's a lot of mending to be done. It's time for redemption. Goodbye Sonic and Tails."

"'Goodbye?' How about, 'Catch ya later?'" Sonic suggested.

Shadow stopped walking. Unexpectedly, he shot a Chaos Spear- a streak of energy that looks like a lightning bolt being shot at it's side- and aimed it towards the air. Sonic and Tails duck as if they are the target, but realize they weren't.

"Shadow are you alright pal?" Sonic asked worryingly.

"I-...I felt...a dark energy in the air. Specifically in space...it was foreign. It's gone now. Don't worry about it now. It's gone..."

Sonic and Tails look at each other in suspicion, shrug, and walk away, as does Shadow in the opposite direction.
