At Sonic's House...

"Sally, it's entirely up to you. I could stay here protecting us, or you could join me. I know Mephiles is out there looking for those Chaos Emeralds." Sonic offered.

"There's no use in us staying together at home, when we could stay together fighting for the world. I'm going with you." Sally smiled.

"Good...I still think it ain't enough."

"Sonic, I'm a Freedom Fighter too, ya know? I took over, remember? When you left and all?"

"No, I'm not saying you're not enough, I know what you're capable of...I just feel like we won't do enough. We need more people."

"Should we find the others?"

"Yeah...or-...Nah. That's a bit much."

"What? Sonic, I think any stupid idea would work right now."

Sonic met eyes with her and smirked, "Are you sure about that?"

"I don't see why not. Come on, what is it?" Sally urged.

Sonic responded with a wider grin, striding away holding up a finger.

"Where are you going?" Sally asked.

"Give me a moment." Sonic called back.

He walked over to his personal library of books in the living room and started scanning around for something.

"OK, I know I said any stupid idea, but how will a book help us?"

"Shh!...Aha!"

Sonic pulled out a locked, seaweed-color, book and returned to Sally, showing her the cover.

She took it from him to read the cover, "'Sonic and the Black Knight?' What's this?"

"I tried telling Amy about it, but she wouldn't believe me. A while ago, I was summoned into this book, or dimension I guess."

"Say what?" Sally gawking at Sonic now.

"Let me finish. So originally, this was the story of King Arthur, but it turns out the book was actually pretty twisted."

"Twisted how? That's a bit far-fetched given no experts have found out yet."

"Maybe on Mobius-"

"We don't have a physical copy of this on Mobius."

"OK, well this dimension!...I guess...I don't know if other dimensions have this story, but-"

"OK! This particular book, within our dimensional space! Continue."

"...Sure, whatever you said. Anyway, so King Arthur was actually an illusion created by Merlin-"

"The wizard?"

"Yeah. Arthur wound up becoming corrupt and tyrannical, using his new dark powers to bring fear to his people. Merlin's granddaughter, Merlina, brought me into the book...or world- whatever. I wound up finding a talking sword-"

"A what?"

"Could you let me finish?"

"Sorry, proceed!" Sally giggled.

"...A talking magical sword, by the name of Caliburn. He taught me how to be a knight and stuff-"

Sonic stopped again to Sally's snort.

"You?! A knight?!" she laughed.

"Don't." Sonic muttered.

Sally laughed and waved a hand to tell him to continue.

Sonic continued, "We eventually killed King Arthur...and come to think of it, it was kind of odd how his body disappeared like his dark creature-minions...Afterwards, I met with Merlina again to tell her the job was done and it turns out she just wanted to continue with her own evil reign on Camelot. So the Knights of the Round Table helped me out in preparing to defeat the Dark Queen, and so we did!"

"...OK...So, how will this book help us again?"

Sonic took out a key and unlocked the book, opening to a random page.

"Stand back." Sonic to Sally.

She moved a few steps back and instantly, a blue light flashed from the book and absorbed Sonic within it. The light died down and Sonic was gone, the book falling to the floor.

"W-W-...Wha'?...Sonic?"

Just then, three Darkball Heartless appeared in the house while Sally was vulnerable.

"Oh, this ain't gonna be like time!" she snarled.

One of them charged at her, but Sally was quick to react, projecting her hologram-blades from her wristbands. She thrusted her arms into the Darkball's mouth before it can bite her and sliced it horizontally, ripping the creature in half, making it dissipate from reality. The other two hesitated to attack, realizing the blades were made of light. Light-based attacks are a strong weakness for any Heartless.

Sally jumped first at the next two, swinging both blades at each, but before there was contact, the Darkballs turned into a cloud of smog, evading the attack. The blades went straight through them with no damage and Sally landed behind them, rolling to a stand. She turned around and both Heartless went in for their attacks before Sally could.

She reshaped her blades into a big shield to deflect them, but before they struck, a quick metallic ring of a sword resonated in the room, and the Darkballs were immediately defeated. Sally dismissed her shield and saw Sonic again, holding a beautiful and majestic sword with a gold and silver gauntlet adorned with ruby. The blade was silver with a gold symbol near the tip of it, it had a golden, curved, and pointed cross-guard, a gold pointed pommel, a white grip, and the most distinctive feature- it had green eyes and a mouth. And to the left and right of Sonic were five knights who oddly resembled some familiar friends, one of them looking like Silver.

"S-Silver?! You're alive?! Why are you wearing a knight's get-up? Was this all a sick joke?! Why are you all-"

"My Lord, who is this chipmunk?" the one that looked like Silver asked.

"'My Lord?' Sonic, what is this? Why would you fake Silver's death?"

"That's King Sonic to you, peasant!"

"WHOA, calm down everyone! Sal', I never finished my story," Sonic cut in, "You see, when Merlina lead me to Caliburn here, she didn't realize she lead me to the more commonly named, Excalibur. And they say, Excalibur chooses the worthy wielder, and whomever that may be, will be king."

"S-So...you're King Arthur? Am I hearing this right?"

"Essentially, yeah! At least in this specific book. When I came back to the real world, the book's title changed itself from 'King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table' to 'Sonic and the Black Knight.'"

"And these must be the Knights of the Round Table? But they look like-..."

"I know, that kinda threw me off too! Speaking of which, Knights! This is Sally Acorn, my girlfriend."

The Knights looked at each other in confusion.

"Do you mean your queen, my Lord?" the Silver-like one asked again.

"Well...I wouldn't say qu-"

"Yes, I am his queen!" Sally interrupted Sonic.

The Knights immediately knelt to bow to Sally.

"Why don't you introduce yourselves?" Sally requested.

The Silver-like one stood up first, "I am Sir Galahad, The Silver Knight. My apologies, your majesty. I did not know you were of relation to King Sonic."

"Apology accepted, Sir Galahad."

The one on the far left rose next. He resembled Shadow, "I am Sir Lancelot, The Ultimate Knight, Knight Of The Lake. Please excuse my son for his foolishness."

"Forgive me, father." Sir Galahad responded.

"Pffwha?" Sally scoffed.

"Oh right...they're related in their world." Sonic whispered to Sally.

"I am Sir Gawain, Knight Of The Sun, The Greatest Knight!" the red one addressed, resembling Knuckles.

"I am Sir Percival, Blazing Knight and Knight Of The Grail!" said the lavender one, similar to Blaze.

"And I am Sir Lamorak!" the last one, a green hawk, said.

"No special nickname like the others?" Sally asked Lamorak.

"Do you mock me?!" Lamorak exclaimed.

"Easy Lamorak!" Sonic cut in, the other Knights laughing at Lamorak silently.

"Who's he?" Sally to Sonic.

"He just said his name." Sonic returned.

"No, no, in our world."

"Oh. Right, you haven't met Jet yet. Not someone you want to meet anyway. He's the leader of the Babylon Rogues, thieves who are the last of the ancient Babylonian civilization."

"Yeah, don't know him. So this is your idea for help?"

"Yep. Now we're ready!"

"No we aren't, how dare you forget me!" said a voice.

Then, Sonic's sword spun out of his hand to stand on its tip, its face towards Sally.

"It is an honor to meet you, Queen Sally. I am Excalibur, or Caliburn if you will."

"Hey, I already introduced you!" Sonic snapped at the sword.

"Improperly, and rather insultingly!"

"Well maybe you deserved it!"

"Let me remind you who chose you!"

"Let me remind you who picked you up!"

"I let you!"

"ENOUGH! Sonic, you're arguing with a sword!" Sally interrupted.

"I do not mean to interrupt, but why did you summon us here, Sonic?" Percival tuned in.

"There's a great evil in my world and I'm going to need as much help as possible for this task. Are you even up for it?" Sonic declared.

"Our purpose is to protect the king. We will go to the greatest lengths to fulfill that duty!" Gawain said.

"I have a hunch that that creature was not the only one." Lancelot suggested.

"You're right, we need to go now. I'll tell you more details as we go. Come on!" Sonic concluded.

"Onward Knights!" Caliburn announced.

Sonic picked up Caliburn and led the way with with his sword and Sally by his side, and the Knights close behind them followed suit.
