Chapter 8: I Love You
Jessica POV
"I love you." Zach and I both said.
We looked at each other, our faces painted deep red.
"D-Did we just say the same thing?" I asked.
Zach chuckled and then spoke. "I guess so." he said.
I smiled and Zach leaned in closer to me and pressed his lips to mine. It took me a second to figure out what was happening and then I started to kiss back. It lasted a little while but the wretched need for air separated us.
"Well, that was a thing." I said.
"It's called a kiss, Jess. Or do you need me to remind you what it is by doing that again?" Zach said with a smirk.
"Enlighten me." I said.
We leaned towards each other again and kissed. I put my arms around his neck while he put his arms around my waist. It lasted for a little longer than the first one but the need for air separated us once again.
"Come on, let's get inside. It's starting to get cold out here." Zach said. I nodded and followed him inside as our fingers were intertwined.
Zach POV
As we got inside, Jess gave me a kiss on the cheek and we sat down on the couch.
"It's about time you two got together." my sister said.
"What'd you see?" I asked.
"Everything." Katelyn said. I sighed and face-palmed, trying to hide my blushing face. I felt two arms wrap around me and I removed my hand from my face to see Jessica hugging me. I put my left arm around her and pulled her closer to me.
"So, what now?" I asked.
"We could just watch Netflix if you want." Jessica said.
"No! I will not allow that!" Katelyn exclaimed. I paused for a moment and then my eyes widened, realizing what she was talking about.
"Katelyn! Really?! We weren't gonna do that! Damn, you got a dirty mind." I exclaimed then said. Katelyn rolled her eyes and she left the room.
"Did she really think we'd do that? We're only fifteen." Jessica said.
"Sixteen." I said, correcting her.
"Wait, seriously? You're sixteen?" Jessica asked.
"Yep, turned sixteen when I was gone for those two months." I said.
"You could've told me." Jessica said.
"You didn't ask." I said. I heard Jess sigh and she rested her head on my shoulder. I closed my eyes soon after and fell asleep.
I woke up and I found myself alone in the dark room, only the moonlight illuminating it. I stood up and walked outside, the cool fall air hitting my face like a baseball. I sat down on the railing of the porch and looked at the stars twinkling in the dark purple sky. I wished that moment could've lasted forever, but sadly, all good things come to an end...
