The Training Begins!
After building their rooms, the group had to come up with a schedule.
They would have to have enough time to eat 3 times a day, train, and have free time for whatever they wanted.
Natsu and Lucy had already come up with a schedule and needed to set up training equipment on the ground. They made an obstacle course, some fighting dummies, and an arena for friendly sparring.
It wasn't much but the two were proud of their work.
"Lucy! Nii-San! Come eat dinner!" They heard Wendy shout from a branch.
The duo looked up to see the little dragon slayer hanging from a branch happily.
"Wendy! Be careful you're going to fall!" Lucy shouted as she rushed to the blue-haired mage.
"I learned a new trick yesterday!" The little girl replied.
The blonde and pinky watched half in curiosity and fear.
Wendy was hanging in between two branches that made a y shape. She suddenly propelled herself up with her arms and did a backflip onto safety with her hands in the air like she just performed a simple trick.
"Wasn't that awesome?" Wendy asked expectantly looking at them.
"Yeah, just don't scare us like that again," Natsu replied with a little grin.
They leaped onto a tree and expertly climbed their way to Wendy, ignoring the ladders they had made that went from the top of the trunk to a few inches from the ground.
"What did you make today?" Lucy asked as the trio made their way to their 'living room'.
"Nothing much! I just fried some mushrooms, onions, and veggies with leftover ramen that we had." Wendy answered.
"Great! I'm starving!" Lucy yelled. Natsu nodded and patted Wendy's head.
"You're such a good cook!" Natsu exclaimed, smiling at Wendy.
"Thanks, Nii-San!" She replied.
They sat around the table and happily ate Wendy's cooking. She was just beginning to cook but all the dishes she had made never failed to surprise them. In a good way of course.
After eating, Lucy and Natsu headed to the river to wash their dishes. It had been decided that the two older ones would wash the dishes.
That way it was safer and faster for everyone.
"Ne Natsu, " Lucy started causing him to look up, "if we stayed at the guild...would we be this close?"
"Are you regretting this trip now?" He asked as he passed a soapy dish to the blonde.
"No. It's just that I often think about what would've happened if we were still at the guild. Would we have these talks or would we pretend to not know each other?"
"You're thinking too much Cinnamon roll. Nothing can come in between us. All of us. The bond we all have together has become too strong to break." He stated simply.
After a short pause, Lucy finally spoke up.
"Natsu... I think I like you." She blurted out. Lucy covered her mouth with her hands and they both stared at each other in shock.
"Thank God! If you weren't going to say something soon then I was," Natsu exclaimed, standing up.
"What...?"
"I like you too Cinnamon roll." He replied with a big grin.
"I was not expecting that." Lucy also stood up with her hands behind her head.
"Why do I feel like a big weight was just lifted off my shoulders?" Natsu questioned himself.
"We can't be together though..." Lucy began to say.
"What do you mean? Why not?" The male asked, looking and sounding like a little kid.
"Right now...it would be too much. I wasn't expecting to suddenly tell you and I just want to focus on the training right now. No distractions." Lucy explained.
"Fine no distractions." Natsu agreed.
The two worked in a comfortable silence with a smile on their faces. The heavy weight of these feelings being a secret had been lifted from their shoulders and they could finally live in peace.
"We're back!" Lucy shouted as soon as they came back from the river.
They were met with a bullet of paint. Luckily, the two were quick enough to dodge it.
"Whoever gets shot first has to clean the house tomorrow!" The duo heard Wendy shout.
They called the treehouse their 'house' and every week someone had to clean it.
Natsu and Lucy could already see that Wendy provided two slings for then along with two packs of paint bullets each.
"You guys get 10 seconds to go your separate ways!" The duo heard Happy's voice this time.
"No partners!" They were surprised to hear Carla's voice as well.
It suddenly became quiet as the two people on the tree jumped off in separate directions.
This entire time the lanterns were on but someone had now turned them after the 10 seconds had passed so the entire house was plunged into darkness.
The sound of rustling in the leaves could be heard. No one was sure if it was the wind or the sound of someone's footsteps.
Suddenly, Lucy could hear the sound of paint bullets hitting the trees and leaves then a groan of frustration.
Right after, leaves rustled next to her as someone made their escape next to her.
They were so used to the trees that they could jump from tree to tree easily.
Lucy burst out of her hiding spot and shot at the person next to her.
She could hear Wendy exclaim in shock as she turned back but the small girl dodged all the paint bullets easily because of her small body.
Lucy felt something cut through the air and heard a splat right next to her head. She turned and saw someone flying in a tree a few trees down.
This caused Wendy to escape and Lucy entered a heated shooting session with Carla.
Meanwhile, Natsu had found Happy and the two started a type of cat and mouse chase with Happy ironically being the mouse.
Just as Natsu cornered Happy, he felt something hit him on the back.
"Sorry, Nii-San!" Wendy exclaimed.
The lanterns lit up again and everyone came to their 'living room'.
"Time for bed! I hope this tired you out!" Lucy shouted, claiming her hands.
Carla and Happy both flea to their respective trees which looked completely different. Happy had bright colors with fish lights while Carla had an ordinary bedroom with simple white lanterns.
Lucy and Natsu went with Wendy to make sure she had reached her room safely. It had light blue curtains around it with a simple bed with white bedsheets. Wendy had a swing hanging on one of the taller branches, white fairy lights lining the border of her room and her bed, and she had used soft carpets on the floor.
After saying goodnight to Wendy, Lucy and Natsu said their goodnights to each other and headed separate ways.
Natsu had black curtains and didn't really change anything much except for getting a bed with black bedsheets and floating lanterns.
Lucy used white curtains and had a white bed sheet with some floral designs on it. She too had a swing and she put fairy lights in her bookshelves and on the border of her rooms.
Lucy tiredly flopped onto her bed and fell asleep within 10 minutes.
"Lucy! Wake up!" The blonde could feel her bed moving up and down as the little girl jumped on it.
"I'm up!" Lucy exclaimed, groaning as the sun hit her face.
"Breakfast is ready! We have training today!" Wendy replied before rushing out of the room.
Lucy used her hairbrush to tame her messy hair and she put on a simple t-shirt and sweats for the day.
"Ohayo!" Lucy greeted as she used the bridges to enter the living room.
"What to you so long?" Natsu asked as he rubbed his eyes.
"I was tired! Yesterday wore me out!" Natsu snickered as she elbowed him.
"Not like that pervert! Nothing even happened!"
After eating their breakfast, the group headed to the river together to brush their teeth and wash their face.
Wendy talked excitedly about starting their training and getting stronger.
"Wendy, what type of training will you be doing first?" Lucy asked as they reached the training grounds.
"Isn't there just training?" Wendy asked.
"There are a lot of things you could do. You could practice fighting, do some gymnastics to become more flexible, picking a weapon to become good at, and magic training." Lucy replied, counting with her fingers.
"I think I'll focus on fighting and becoming more nimble. That'll be pretty cool!" Wendy stated as she beamed.
"Enough with the talking!" Natsu exclaimed happily, " let's start our training!"
