"I guess this is where we say goodbye," Lucy said as she gave Reina a hug.
"It won't be goodbye forever. I promise." Reina replied with a smile.
"Right 'cus we'll come to visit!" Wendy exclaimed giving Reina a hug of her own.
"Exactly! Come here, you guys! I'm going to miss you all so much!" Reina pulled them into a group hug.
"Take care Rei." Natsu grinned, waving a little goodbye.
"Visit us when you're not busy too!" Mest smiled.
"Alright. Be safe! Especially you two." Reina said eyeing the two males.
"We're very responsible. No need to worry." Natsu said jokingly as he brushed it off.
"By the way where's Happy and Carla?" Lucy asked, looking around.
"They're getting something for me. It's a parting gift to Natsu." Reina answered.
"Where's my gift!" Mest argued jokingly.
"You don't get one. Natsu is my little nephew!" Reina yelled back as she stuck out her tongue.
"Hey! We're here!" The group turned around to see Happy and Carla followed by another exceed.
"Who's your new friend?" Wendy asked.
"Her name is Camille. She'll be Natsu's new partner if that's alright with you." Natsu nodded, looking at the exceed.
She had very light gray fur and a black tip for her tail. Camille wore a black bow on her left ear and a dagger belt at her hilt.
"Camille this is my nephew, Natsu. The one I've been telling you about." Reina introduced the two.
"Hello, my name is Camille! Thank you for accepting me!" The exceed shouted as she bowed.
"No need to be so formal Camille. We're all like a family here." Lucy said warmly.
"Alright!" The small exceed exclaimed before plopping onto Natsu's head.
"She's still young so don't mind her. She may take naps after depleting her magic but I hope you don't mind." Natsu shook his head and gave his aunt a little smile.
"Thank you." He said.
"I suppose I'll be able to hog Lucy to myself now." Happy stated smugly.
"Don't forget about us Happy," Wendy replied devilishly.
"By the way Lucy, there's also something here for you. And you too Wendy." Reina said as she handed Lucy a scarf and Wendy a book.
"Thanks, Rei!" Wendy exclaimed as she flipped through the pages.
"They were left behind by your parents," Reina explained with a smile.
"Thank you, Rei." Lucy smiled, wrapping the scarf around her.
"Oh before you go, can I talk to you for a minute Mest?" Mest nodded and followed Reina.
They moved into the garden, away from where everyone else was.
"I apologize for not being able to train you properly. I was so busy with Natsu and then all this happened that I didn't have the time to train you." Reina began.
"It's okay. It wasn't your fault. You couldn't control anything that happened." Mest reassured.
"So I have a proposal to make," Reina stated.
"Go on." Mest ushered with an anxious look in his eyes.
"Would you like to stay here with me and train under me for a while?" Reina asked.
Mest looked taken aback for a minute, trying to process what Reina asked him.
"It's fine if you don't want to. I can just transfer the techniques to you through memory or I can give you duplicate scrolls." Reina offered other options.
"Well, I don't really know what to say. There are a lot of pros and cons to this." Mest replied hesitantly.
"Are you thinking about Wendy?" Mest nodded embarrassedly causing Reina to sigh.
"I know I'm not in the place to care about who she's with but I can't stop myself." Now it was Mest's turn to sigh loudly.
"How about talking it out with her and then making your decision after?" Reina suggested.
Before Mest could say anything Reina walked past him. Confused, Mest turned around to find Wendy staring at him with Reina by her side.
"I'll leave you two to talk," Reina said before leaving.
"How did you know we were here?" Mest asked after an uncomfortable silence.
"Reina told me. You forgot that she has telepathy." Wendy replied simply.
"Yeah, I did." Mest laughed a little.
"So? What are you gonna do?" Wendy asked.
"I don't know. What do you want me to do?" Mest replied with a question of his own, sitting on a step.
"I think you should stay. It would benefit you a lot." Wendy said as she sat next to him.
"Yeah, it would." Mest agreed plainly.
"So why are you hesitating then?" Wendy asked tilting her head to look at him.
"I'm scared that when I come back... I might lose you. It's quite stupid really." Mest confessed with a little laugh.
"It's not stupid. I'll promise you one thing. I won't let go of you. So don't let go of me okay?" Wendy stuck out her pinky finger.
"Okay," Mest said, sticking out his own pinky finger and locked Wendy's pinky with his.
The two got up and headed to the group, both having a bittersweet feeling in their heart.
"So? What's it gonna be?" Reina asked once the two reached the group.
"I'll stay," Mest replied, determinedly.
"Alright. Don't regret your decision then." Reina crossed her arms with a smile.
"I won't," Mest assured as he gave her a smile.
"Well, I guess this is goodbye for now. Come visit whenever. Camille can open the portal and so can Happy and Carla." Reina said as she waved goodbye to the group.
"Goodbye Rei! You can come to visit us any time you want, too!" Lucy shouted as the group waved back.
Together the group stepped through or flew through the portal, appearing in a train station before they could blink.
"Three tickets to Magnolia, please," Lucy said to the booking clerk as the others sat in the distance waiting for her.
"Here you go! Have a safe trip!" The clerk exchanged the tickets for her money and waved goodbye to Lucy.
"Thank you, sir!" Lucy shouted as she waved goodbye back.
"Did you get the tickets?" Natsu asked.
Lucy nodded and showed them the tickets.
"Before I forget, Wendy perform Troia on us!" Lucy exclaimed as they saw the train in the distance.
Wendy nodded and performed the Troia spell that would get rid of their motion sickness for a while.
"Are you guys ready to go back?" Wendy asked as they got on the train.
The looks on everyone's faces said it all. They were all hesitant. At least everyone but Camille.
"What's so bad about your old guild?" Camille asked innocently.
"Well, they weren't very accepting about Natsu and so we left for a while." Lucy summed up.
"That doesn't seem very nice." Camille huffed with a stern look.
"There are a lot of people who aren't nice. We just have to find a way to change that to make a better world." Natsu replied, petting Camille's head with a grin.
"And we will!" Wendy added.
"Alright! The first mission is to change our guild then!" Camille cheered.
The rest of the ride was silent after eating. Everyone had fallen asleep except for Natsu and Lucy.
"Can't sleep?" Lucy asked to which Natsu shook his head.
Lucy lifted Wendy's head from her shoulder and put her in a more comfortable position on the chair before moving to sit next to Natsu.
"Here," Lucy said as she brought Natsu's head to rest on her shoulder.
"Do you think we'll be welcomed?" Natsu asked after a long silence.
"Maybe. I hope we are but if we aren't then I guess we'll have to find somewhere else." Lucy replied with a small sigh.
"Yeah." Natsu agreed and closed his eyes.
"Was it bothering you?" Natsu nodded.
"I just keep thinking about how they would react to us. To me." Natsu admitted.
"Well no matter what I'll be on your side. We all will." Lucy assured, gesturing to Wendy and the exceeds.
Natsu nodded his head and closed his eyes, listening to the rhythm of the train moving and letting Lucy play with his hair.
Natsu slowly fell asleep and Lucy soon followed after.
When they had woke up there were still 30 minutes left before they reached Magnolia. Enough time to eat.
Wendy and the exceeds woke up soon after, smelling the food that had arrived.
Once the train had finally stopped they shot each other nervous looks and stepped off the train, heading towards their guild.
"Are we ready?" Lucy asked as she gripped Natsu and Wendy's hands.
The two nodded determinedly, their own exceeds flying behind them.
With shaking hands, Lucy let go of their hands and pushed the doors open to reveal a rowdy guild in the middle of a friendly battle.
All eyes turned towards the doors and the fighting stopped immediately, seeing who was at the door.
Slowly everyone turned to look at the group with a sorry face. After a few minutes of silence, a redhead walked forward.
"Natsu, Lucy, and Wendy. Welcome back." Erza said with a neutral face.
"Glad to be back Erza," Lucy replied.
Erza looked down, ashamed. Slowly she got on her knees and bowed down, her head touching the floor.
"I'm sorry for treating you like I did. I've recognized my wrongdoings and I hope you could forgive me." The group had doubt in their eyes.
They weren't sure if this was a trick or not.
Slowly, another member bowed down and then another one until everyone was like Erza.
"We're very sorry! Please forgive us!" The guild yelled in unison as they had their heads to the ground.
The group looked at each other before cracking up.
"I was expecting something but not this! We accept your apology now get up and stop laying on the floor. I'm sure you all would like to get up now." Lucy said as she laughed.
"You forgive us...?" Erza asked with a confused look on her face.
"We forgive you," Wendy repeated.
Hesitantly, everyone stood up and stared at each other uncomfortably.
"But why?" Erza asked again.
"Because everyone deserves a second chance at things," Natsu replied with a smile.
His first smile in front of the guild.
"Thank you. Thank you!" Erza shouted as she bowed her head, everyone following in suite.
"Alright, we get it now stop being so formal. Where's the master? We need to get guild marks." Lucy asked.
"Upstairs in his office," Laxus answered.
"Did you see Gray's face. He looked like such a dork." Natsu whispered quite loudly to Lucy who giggled in response.
"I heard that!" Gray yelled at the pinky.
"I know!" Natsu replied, sticking his tongue out.
"Natsu! Focus!" Camille exclaimed with her hands on her hips.
"Alright alright. Two seconds in and you're already bossing me around." Natsu pouted like a little kid and crossed his arms.
"Don't be such a kid Natsu," Lucy said as she and Wendy laughed.
The group continued up the stairs and into the master's office.
"Hey, master! We're back!" Wendy shouted as they entered.
"It's good to have you all back. What takes you to my office?" The master asked as he put down a document.
"We have a new member and we would like to get our guild marks," Lucy explained as she pointed to Camille who bowed in greeting.
"Alright. Is this a new group that is being formed?" The team nodded and Makarov smiled in approval.
Makarov opened a drawer and took out the guild mark stamp.
"Now where would you like yours to be and what color?" Makarov asked Camille.
"I want it to be black and on my back," Camille answered.
The guild master selected the color and stamped it on her back.
"What about the rest of you? The same places and color?" The group nodded.
"Master I want mine to be brown instead," Wendy said.
The master nodded and stamped on her Fairy Tail mark.
"Welcome home my children." The master said teary-eyed.
"We're glad to be back." They replied in unison.
