Gaining and Losing
"Natsu we need to talk," Lucy whispered to the pinky as they made their way back to their rooms.
"We'll be back later you guys!" Natsu shouted out to the group before taking Lucy's hand and dragging her away.
The two walked out into the garden where a little structure was.
Lucy leaned onto a pillar as she looked at the stars for a while. Natsu propped his elbows onto the railings facing the other way.
"What did you need Cinnamon Roll?" Natsu asked.
"What are we Natsu?" The blonde looked directly at him.
"We're humans? I don't know. Are you an alien or something?" Lucy sighed as she laughed a little.
"No, I mean what's our relationship," Lucy stated.
"Oh well, you could've just said that sooner. I don't know what we are. All I know is that I love you, Lucy." Natsu replied, looking at her seriously.
"Natsu... I love you too you know that already. But I thought we both agreed to no distractions." Lucy said.
"I know. I know we agreed to that but Lucy all I want right now is you. I can't think of anything or anyone else." Natsu was now staring at the blonde hopefully.
"I don't know Natsu. What if things happen and our emotions get in the way. I don't want you stopping me from fighting and protecting people I love." Lucy sighed heavily.
"I won't. Lucy will you be my girlfriend?" Natsu asked, turning his body towards the blonde.
"I don't know Natsu. There are too many risks." Lucy replied as she started pacing back and forth.
"Lucy look at me," Natsu stated.
"What." The blonde turned and stood in front of Natsu.
The pinky brushed Lucy's hair to the side as he leaned down to kiss her, closing his eyes in advance.
Lucy, at first, was taken aback but soon fell into the kiss and started kissing him back.
He brought his hands to her waist and hugged her from below as she played with his hair.
It was a sweet kiss that seemed to go on forever in their eyes but when they pulled away it was barely enough.
"Lucy be my girlfriend," Natsu whispered into her ear.
"Okay." The blonde responded as she blushed furiously.
"The others might look for us. Let's go back." Natsu stated.
"That's a good idea." Lucy agreed still blushing profusely.
The two walked side by side, holding the other's hand. Natsu wore a big goofy smile while Lucy was still replaying their kiss in her head.
"Go to sleep early you had a long day," Natsu said as they made their way to their rooms.
"I will. Reina is coming to our room in a bit so we'll be staying up but no later than 3." Lucy told the pinky.
"Okay, make sure you all stay safe. Who knows what girls are doing during their time together." Natsu replied with a little smile as they reached their rooms.
"Will do captain." Lucy saluted him jokingly and entered her room.
"Hey, Wendy! I'm back! Is Rei here yet?" Lucy shouted as she made her way to their beds.
"Not yet! I'm in the shower I'll be out in a bit!" Wendy yelled back before emerging from the bathroom.
She had her bathrobe on as steam came from the bathroom.
"I'm assuming you had a good shower," Lucy stated with a smile.
"Yup! You seem happy. What happened?" Wendy asked.
"Nothing big. I'll tell you both when Rei gets here." Lucy replied.
As if on cue, a knock came from the door.
"It's Reina! Open up!" A voice came from behind the door.
"Coming!" Lucy answered.
The blonde opened the door to reveal a Reina with three bags full of candles and some face masks.
"Hey! Come in." Lucy shut the door as Reina walked in.
She took off her shoes and put them on the rack beside the door.
"So I brought some face masks to do along with candles since why not. We haven't had a talk in forever so I figured we should go all out." Reina explained, dropping the bags onto the bed.
"Yay boy talk," Wendy replied sarcastically.
"What's wrong Wendy?" The blue-haired girl sighed heavily as Lucy and Reina settled in.
Lucy sat up near the top of the bed and had a pillow on top of her while Reina laid on her stomach across the bed. Wendy sat in the middle and near the edge.
"Well, you both can date the person you love. I don't have anyone and I just feel alone since you both will be paying attention to someone else." Wendy confessed.
"Sweetie is that all your worried about? Lucy and I will never change." Reina assured Wendy as she stroked the girl's hair.
"Yeah, Wendy. We're sisters forever. Even if we aren't blood." Lucy agreed.
"I know but there's just that feeling of worry," Wendy replied.
"Well, we're staying right here. You're stuck with us forever." Lucy said with a smile.
"That's horrific." Wendy joked.
"How about you and Natsu?" Reina asked Lucy.
"We're better than before. He asked me out earlier and I obviously said yes." Lucy smiled as she blushed.
"That's it?" Wendy asked.
"Well, we also might've kissed," Lucy replied as she tried to avoid eye contact with any of the two girls.
"Awee look who's acting shy!" Reina exclaimed as she and Wendy laughed.
"Well, what about Yuuji? You both must've kissed before." Lucy fired back.
"Yes, we have. He actually proposed to me earlier." Reina replied sheepishly.
"And you didn't tell us the second you got here?!?" Lucy shouted as she gasped dramatically.
"I needed to save the best for last." Reina joked as she smiled smugly.
"Congratulations!" Wendy yelled as she gave Reina a hug.
"Thanks! I'll have you two here the week of the wedding to help me with everything." Reina told them.
"Using us for our strength I see," Wendy replied.
"Yes, only for your strength." Reina agreed before the girls burst into laughter.
"I'll be right back I forgot that I had to go get something from Nii-San's room." Wendy stood up and headed for the door.
"What are you getting Wendy?" Lucy asked sneakily.
"Get your head out of the gutter. My ring fell off earlier and Mest-San found it. He tried giving it back but I was still dancing so he held onto it for a bit longer and forgot about it." Wendy explained.
"How do you know he left it in their room? Is he back yet?" Reina smiled sneakily with Lucy.
"I'm sure he left it on their desk or something. I'll run in and get it." Wendy replied.
"You're going in your nightgown?" Lucy raised an eyebrow at her.
Wendy looked down at her clothes. It was a blue spaghetti-strapped nightgown made with silky fabric with ruffles at the top and bottom that reached her mid-thigh.
"I don't see why not," Wendy stated innocently.
"Okay then. Don't take too long." Reina said as she waved goodbye.
Wendy laughed nervously before leaving the room and knocking on the boys' door.
"Hey! Did you need something Imouto?" Natsu asked as he opened the door.
"Is Mest back yet? Or did he leave my ring here anywhere?" Wendy replied.
"Nope, no Mest or ring. He should be coming back soon so I'll tell him to give it to you." Natsu smiled at the little girl.
"Okay! Thanks, Nii-San!" Wendy turned around to go back to her room as she saw Carla and Happy in their human forms.
"Hey, Wendy!" Happy shouted and waved.
Wendy waved back and waited for them to reach her.
"Where did you two go?" Natsu asked.
"Just walked around for a bit," Carla answered.
"Carla we're having a girl's night. Tell Lucy and Rei that I'll head in after talking with Natsu and Happy." Carla nodded and went into their room.
"Are you here for something?" Happy asked as him and Natsu stood at the doorway.
"Did Mest tell you where he put my ring?" Happy shook his head and Wendy sighed heavily.
"I'll have him return it once he gets here. Okay?" Wendy nodded disappointedly and said good night to the two boys.
She headed back to her room but stopped as she heard a noise in the hall.
Wendy headed towards the noise at the end of the hall.
"I told you that you should come back to my room. It was closer and I don't have any roommates." A girl's voice came from the corner.
"We will go to your room. I just have to return something my friend lost." A man's voice replied.
Wendy's eyes widened. It was Mest.
"Give me a kiss before you go first." The girl said.
Wendy watched as Mest kissed a red-haired girl. She hung her hands around his neck and he was about to lift her up when Wendy cleared her throat.
"Hi, uhm I would like to have my ring back. Both of them." Wendy ordered, sticking her hand out.
"Wendy! Sorry, I didn't see you there. I'll give it back in a second let me just get it out of my pocket." Mest said looking like he had seen a ghost.
"Hi, little girl! Are you Mest's friend? I'm Gloria! Nice to meet you." The redhead greeted with a warm smile.
"The name's Wendy! I didn't know Mest-San had a girlfriend. I hope he treats you well." Wendy replied with a small smile.
"She's not my girlfriend Wendy." Mest interrupted.
"The lip stains on your neck beg to differ. My rings, please." Wendy stuck out her hand.
"Here." Mest placed her tiny ring in her palm and stared at her.
"I said both of them," Wendy said coldly.
"You only have 1," Mest replied.
Wendy motioned the one still on his finger. Mest looked down at his ring and then back at Wendy.
"Wendy..." Mest trailed off.
"I want my rings, Doranbolt." Wendy barely managed to keep her voice steady.
"Wendy don't be like that," Mest argued.
"Be like what? I'm just asking for my rings. Give it back." Mest sighed and reluctantly took off the ring on his left hand.
He placed it on Wendy's open palm and stared at her.
Wendy stared back, feeling too many emotions to describe.
"Thanks. I hope you two last long I'll be going now. Hopefully, he warns you when he's going to break your heart in two instead of having you find out yourself." Wendy turned around to leave before she could burst out crying.
She put her ring on her left hand, trying to fit it anywhere but her ring finger. In the end, it would only fit her ring finger and she settled with that.
Mest looked at her with wistful eyes but she wouldn't allow him to see her cry. Instead, she glared at him and walked away.
She knocked on the door and it opened to 3 girls happily inviting her back before they say her on the verge of crying.
"Come inside. What's wrong sweetheart?" Reina asked as the 3 of them ushered her in.
"I- I just saw Doranbolt k- kissing a girl," Wendy muttered out before breaking down.
Wendy thought her cries would be loud but they were quiet painful ones that made it hard to breathe.
"Sweetie... Let's get you to bed. Lucy dear get ice cream." Reina instructed as her and Carla guided Wendy to the bed.
"Did you get your ring back?" Lucy asked as she came back with the ice cream.
"Yeah. I took his too. You know the worst part about this wasn't seeing him with another girl. It was seeing him look like he didn't want to give the ring back. He obviously knew that we would never have anything so why did he look so reluctant." Wendy cried as she wiped away her tears.
"Wendy, boys are just stupid like that. Just cry it out. We're here if you need to vent." Lucy stroked the young girl's hair.
Wendy leaned on Carla's shoulder as she cried silently, holding his ring to her chest.
"I know I should be happy for him and I am but it hurts. It feels like my heart just got ripped out of my chest and torn into pieces. I heal people so why can't I stop my heart from hurting like this." Wendy cried as she clutched the rings tighter.
"I told you he was no good and that you should stop these feelings. I know it's hard but you have to let go." Carla replied.
"Carla's right. Let's focus on you." Lucy agreed.
"Okay. I'll let him go. I won't hold onto the strand of hope anymore." Wendy replied as she wiped her tears away.
For the rest of the night, the girls ate ice cream and stayed away from the topic of boys.
