After a month of lectures at Cloud Recesses, the guest disciples seem to have gotten into the Lan Clan routine. Wei Ying was the same, although he was a bit hard to wake up in the morning. Wei Ying seemed to be doing a lot better since we talked that day. He has been more open and expressive with me. Asking me not to share with others unless he wants to let others know, he opened up about his relationship with his Uncle Jiang Fengmian and Madam Yu. Fengmian, as before turns a blind eye to everything that is happening, and he lets Madam you berate their children however much she wants.

 She scolds Wei Ying the most, as she always calls him a son of a servant and worthless. I always tell him that her words are nothing but garbage and that he should not listen to them. I assured him that he was priceless and no-one should tell him these things. I told him, that he is the grandson of the esteemed immortal, Baoshan Sanran. As his mother is her child, and disciple. Wei Ying has her blood as proof that he is worth more than what others (Madam Yu) tell him.

It has been a decent day to start off. Though, Wei Ying seemed okay, he also looked like he had some things on his mind. We were sitting in the library pavilion studying for an exam coming up when I took decided to take a glance at him. He looked as if he was looking over the material, but he looked like he was in a daze.

"Wei Ying? Is everything?" I asked getting his attention.

"Lan Zhan, why are you so open to listening to me?" Wei Ying asked me as he looked back at me.

"Because I see you as my Confidant," I told him honestly, "You are important to me and I enjoy your company. I am always willing to be with you and listen to you talk. What ever it is, I will listen. If you want my help with something, I will do what I can with the best of my abilities."

Wei Ying smiled at me, "Really?" He asked. I nodded in response and he then spoke again, "You should know that you are also important to me, Lan Zhan. Because you allow me to be so open with you, you are to be open with me as well."

"If that develops into something more?" I asked him.

"Then so be it," He said and moved closer to me, "I think I am finally starting to understand what exact I want and what I am into."

Our faces were only inches apart, I could feel the heat from his body radiating towards me, and there was a sweet smell of lotuses coming off of him, "And what is that?"

"What if I told you I consider you more as a soulmate, then a confidant?" He asked. 

"I will accept it," I told him, "You are a handsome and beautiful man who is very smart and talented. I would feel honored to be considered your soulmate."

We were now looking into each other's eyes. I was not expecting such a huge leap in our relationship, but I was glad. I have been patiently waiting for this man for years, and my patience has been paying off.

"Can I kiss you?" Wei Ying asked. 

Without a second thought, I answered him by kissing him first. His lips were finally connected with mine. After such a long yearning to taste them, which were sweet, I could taste the lotus seeds lingering flavor that he consumed not long ago. His lips were soft, almost silken, pillowy against my own. I could feel the soft tickle of he breath beneath my nose, fingers tangling through his hair as we breathed each other in and pulling to my lap. The tip of my tongue brushed his lips, insisted, and he opened to let me in, gentle but demanding, we fought for dominance. The kiss lasted for a little while until we were interrupted by a throat clearing. 

We pulled from the kiss, Wei Ying being shy and slightly embarrassed, hid his face into the crook of my neck. I could feel my face heat up as well but I had to maintain enough composure to see who interrupted our moment. It was, of course, my brother. 

"Sorry to interrupt," He said with a huge grin on his face. 

"It is fine, we are in a public setting, so it is possible to be interrupted," I told him trying not to be upset. Wei Ying started to ease up a little bit but still remained on my lap. I smiled at him before turning my attention back to my brother, "Did you need anything?"

"There has been reports of drownings in Biling, and slowly making its way to Caiyi. I have decided to go investigate the matter, some suspect water ghouls," Brother said. 

The ghouls were indeed on time as the timeline goes, "Would you like some help?" I asked. 

"If you would?" He asked me.

"Sect Leader Lan, do you mind if I go get my brother Jiang Cheng and we can tag along, we are from Yunmeng where water ghouls have been spotted in the past and we know how to handle them?" Wei Ying asked. 

"I would love if you could lend us a hand, Wei Gongzi, but you can call me Xichen Ge," Brother said with a wink.

Wei Ying let out a chuckle, "Well, then you can call me Wuxian or A'Xian."

"Perfect, meet us at the main gate in twenty minutes. That should give you enough time to gather your things here and for A'Xian to get his brother," Xiongzhang told us.

We nodded and did as he asked. I went with Wei Ying to ask his brother to join us. I have yet to come to terms with him, as the things he had done in the past life have not happened in this life yet, I was still cautious of him, but for Wei Ying, I will try to make it work for the moment and let personal issues aside.
