Proof
Mark's POV
"Mark... you awake?" A soft voice calls my name, shaking my body slowly. I grunt as I open my eyes, only to see Jenifer smiling towards me.
"Now I am..." I yawned, trying to sit down.
She giggled, taking a seat next to me. "Are you sure you rather sleep on the couch? I mean, we can share the bed or something."
"N-No, I'm fine... I won't be here for too long anyway. Best not to get too comfortable." I joked, smiling weakly at her. Honestly, the thought of sharing a bed with someone else besides Jack bothers me... It just is.
"Well, I made us some breakfast. Care to join me?"
"Jack used to make me breakfast..." I muttered under my breath, unconsciously saying my thoughts out loud.
"What?"
"Nothing... sorry, I was thinking to myself."
She rolled her eye, sighing. "Are you thinking about him again? He hurt me you know? PHYSICALLY. Besides, he's just your stupid roommate."
"I'm not thinking about him and no, he's not 'stupid'." I said sternly, quoting her. "He just did some... dumb things in his life. Really really dumb things."
She stare at me in disbelieve but quickly shrug it off. "So, can we eat?"
"I guess."
[A little time skip]
"Mark, you haven't touched your food at all." Jenifer frowned.
I sigh as I pushed the plate away. "I'm not hungry."
"Don't be such a baby Mark, you'll get sick and I have to babysit y—" "I'm not asking you to be my babysitter. I'm only here until I know that you're safe from... him."
"But what if he comes here when you're gone?" She cried, giving me a puppy-eye look that I've grown to hate because it was so overused by her just to get something she wants from me (or anyone, actually).
"He won't."
"But—"
"Please Jen, don't make this more complicated than it already is." I growled, trying to sound as calm as possible.
She opens her mouth but quickly shuts it, taking another long sigh. "Fine, if that's how you want to play. But just remember that I care about you, okay?"
My head felt like it was on fire as I was getting more and more frustrated because of how childish she is; I'm getting sick of it. At first she was being nice and all but slowly, she's attaching herself to me like a parasite. She doesn't understand that I possibly just lost one of the most important person in my life because of her. But then again, I'm trying to do the right thing and I promised her that I'd be with her for a while.
"Look Jen, I'm sorry. I've been feeling very tired lately and nothing makes sense anymore and you're not very helping." I bluntly said.
"You know what," She hissed, standing up. "I'm going to go out with some friends. I'll tell you if something happens, okay?"
I crossed my arms and nodded slowly, not caring to look at her in the eyes. She on the other hand, has another thing on her mind.
I felt a soft hand cupped my face as her face leans close to mine. My eyes widened while my face instantly became warm just as I pushed her away gently.
"Jen, please."
"Mark, you've been here for like, a week. We've kissed before, it's nothing new."
"But you can't force me to do it!" I protested, pushing her even further.
"Oh please." She rolled her blue eyes, walking away. "We're going to talk later okay? Bye Mark."
"...Bye."
3rd Person POV
Jack's condition is getting more worse each day: He couldn't shut his eyes, food taste bland, and he can't even relax his mind, not even for a second. His eyes are puffy and red because of the constant crying he's been doing and now his eyes are dry. The only thing he did that was considered 'productive' was trying to text and call Mark, but none were answered. His friends tried to reason with him and cheer him up, but he pushed them away, shutting them out.
Even though Jack is still falling apart, he thought that he needed some fresh air today.
"I can't be like this forever, it's ridiculous." He grunted, standing up from his bed. He lazily drags himself towards the nearest mirror, trying to check on his appearance. The only word that could describe him right now: fucked-up.
His skin looks paler, almost like a dead person. His wonderful blue eyes now lost its spirit as the color red surrounds it. His cheeks are still wet and salty because of his stream of tears that stopped a while ago. His green hair was all over the place and looked drenched of sweat; he was not at his best.
"Can't go out looking like this... I look like a literal zombie."
He decided to take a warm shower, trying to relax for a bit. He took his phone and played the song Nicotine by one of his favorite band called Panic! At The Disco. Even if it takes some time to adjust, he finally managed to feel calmer. The water slowly warmed his weak body followed by a soothing sound of the dripping water as the song played in the background.
Cross my heart and hope to die
Burn my lungs and curse my eyes
I've lost control and I don't want it back
I'm going numb, I've been hijacked
It's a fucking drag
His lips moved in synch with the lyrics as he sings along.
I taste you on my lips and I can't get rid of you
So I say damn your kiss and the awful things you do
Yeah, you're worse than nicotine, nicotine
A tear suddenly falls from the corner of his eye, mixed with the clean water. He quickly wipes it away, taking a long sigh; the song reminded him so much about Mark; how addicting he is to Jack and how much he needs him.
"Jeez, I feel like I'm an emo-rebelling teen all over again." He joked, remembering him when he was younger and still living in Ireland. "Well, I guess I'm still a rebel." He shrugged, still talking to himself.
He then stays silent for awhile, letting the song plays as the water kept dripping. He sighs as he clenched his fist, trying to reassure himself.
"You can do this Jack. Believe in yourself."
After a shower that felt like forever, he slowly got out of it and took a towel, wrapping it around his waist. Jack then goes to the sink and brushed his wet green hair aside, looking at himself. He looks (and feels) so much better.
"Well, it's time to take a long walk by myself." He said, giving out a half-smile.
Jack dried his hair quickly as he picked out an outfit for himself. He decided to go with a white shirt, black jacket, ripped jeans, and a beanie to top it all. His eyes are still quite puffy and red so he decided to use sunglasses to cover it up so no one will notice.
"Meh, looks good enough."
He didn't forget to take his wallet, phone, and a pack of cigarette that was inside his drawer (for emergency reasons), shoving it inside his pocket. He drags himself towards the door and puts on his favorite green converse that has blue shoelaces; he was ready.
As his hand slowly turn the doorknob and sliding the wooden door open, a cold breeze hit him. He then walked outside and closed the door, not forgetting to lock it. It was Sunday morning and most of the student there was going out (except some people that choose to stay and play some video games) so silence was the only thing that greeted him. He sighs, sliding the key inside his pocket. He took out his earphone that was in a messy knot, trying to untangle it.
"Shit... every fuckin' time." He cursed under his breath.
After a minute or so, he finally managed to untangle it. Feeling quite proud, he then took his phone and plugs the earphone in, choosing a song from his phone that has hundreds of it. While scrolling, he then founds the perfect song. He puts one of the earphones in his right ear, pressing the play button.
Feeling satisfied, he started walking without any particular destination in his hectic mind. He will go wherever his legs take him; it was just a simple walk, really. He didn't really care about where he will end up, just as long as he can take off his mind for a bit, everything's fine.
After walking for awhile, he found himself near the café that he used to go with Ken and Felix.
"Miss those goofballs..." He chuckled, staring towards the small building. "Should call them later and apologized."
The building was quite small to say the least, but it has its own charm that Jack has grown to love. He can't really describe it with words but he just love being in there. The welcoming scent of coffee wafts through the air however, Jack was not up for it. He then walk pass through the backside of the building, passing through the outdoors area of the café. As he was minding his own business, he suddenly heard a familiar sound. Of course, who wouldn't remember that awful laughter of hers?
Jack stops his feet, looking towards the direction of the sickening voice.
"Of course, I need to see that bitch who ruined my life again." Jack growled under his breath, trying to keep a low profile so she wouldn't notice him. Luckily, his most well known features (which is his striking green hair and blue eyes) were covered, making him practically unrecognizable.
As he tried to walk again, his ears catches what the girl was saying.
"Really, I can't believe that Mark fallen for my lies! And that stupid Irish dude has no chance now!" She giggled, taking a sip of her drink. "Besides, he's freakin' straight, Mark is out of his league."
Her friends laughed in synch, congratulating her (for some odd reason).
"So, how did you pull it off?" One of her friends asks in curiosity, stirring her drink.
Jack was not taking any chances right now; he needs to get Mark back and this is his golden ticket. Without hesitation, he quickly ran towards the door and swung it open, making some of the waiter jumped a little. After saying a short 'hello' to them, he then walk casually to the outdoor section, finding a seat that was quite close to Jenifer's without alarming her. As he took a seat, Jack quickly took out his phone, opening the recording app. She was pretty loud so it was much more easier to catch her voice.
"What do you like to order sir?" A soft sound asks, startling him a little.
"J-Just a black coffee please." Jack spoke softly, hoping that Jenifer cannot hear him.
"Sure! Anything else?" The woman asks cheerfully.
"That's all for now, thank you."
"No problem!"
As the waiter left, Jack eyes wanders back to Jenifer, who was still talking about her 'amazing' Plan to her (dumb) friends. It's a good thing that Jack was going as fast as he could so now, he can catch every single word that she said.
"Mark... Hope you'll believe me now." Jack thought to himself, feeling quite nervous but happy at the same time.
"Now, I can prove that I'm innocent."
[A/N: Is this chapter worth the wait? I hope it is haha :P This chapter was pretty hard to write... Anyways, I've been very sick lately and stuff is going on right now (that's why it took so long for me to write this chapter). I'll try to update more often but I can't really promise anything at the moment... Hope that's okay :) Thank you *hugs*]
