Rhett's House
"Uhh...Link?" Said Rhett, slightly confused. Link quickly stiffened his body and stood up.
"I'm sorry," Link stuttered at me. I smiled and gave him a head nod. He offered me his hand, which I accepted. He lifted me off the ground with no struggle. I giggled and sighed with relief. I turned my body to view where the sun was beautifully setting.
"You guys wanna go out for dinner?" I offered.
"Yeah, but we'll have to tell our parents first. You too, probably." Link insisted.
"Don't worry. My parents don't care." I replied, a little stern.
"Let's walk to my house. There, I can ask my mom, and Link can call his mom to tell her where we're going." Rhett came upon. We all agreed and walked to his house.
The feeling of walking with two kids who I knew we're going to grow up and become my inspirations, it was breath taking. It was a feeling like no other.
Well, I still had the other feelings scraping the back of my mind.
I've felt affection towards some people..but it never really felt like the connection Link and I had. When he looked me in the eyes, I felt like I was being electrocuted without the real pain.
My thoughts were interrupted by Link allowing me though Rhett's door before he entered. He showed off his adorable smile, which caused me to smile back.
Rhett's house was nothing like I imagined it. It was a lot smaller, even though he had a brother. Rhett led Link and I to his living room couch, and he then walked to the kitchen, where I head noises and movement. I heard mumbling noises and a smooth, high voice call,
"You finally brought a girl home!" I heard footsteps and I saw a beautiful women. She looked like she was in her mid-40s. "Hi! You must be Lily! I'm Mrs. McLaughlin"
"Mom, I have to tell you somethi-" Rhett started.
"Rhett usually goes over to his girlfriend's houses, and never brings them over. You're very lucky."
"Mom, she's-"
"So, how long have you two been together?" Mrs. McLaughlin continued.
"She's not my girlfriend, mom!" Rhett shouted, which made her stop. Her mouth gaped open for a few seconds. She glanced at Rhett, than turned back to me.
"My apologies, Lily." She said with a brilliant smile.
"It's completely fine, Mrs. McLaughlin." I say, attempting to mirror her smile.
I talk a little with Mrs. McLaughlin, while Link calls his mom on the phone and Rhett goes to his room and changes out of the clothes he wore all day. Link said he'll survive a few hours in the same clothes.
"Ready?" Rhett and Link say simultaneously when meeting in the living room, coming from different hallways. They chuckle a little bit under their breath.
"Were just going to the place around the corner." I told Mrs. McLaughlin. She nodded and waved goodbye as we left the house.
I hoped all awkwardness would be gone after that...but I was obviously wrong.
