I had picked up the kit Teagan was lending me at the end of lunch, before 4th period. I wasn't sure how it was going to fit, but it was better than nothing. Plus I couldn't afford to have another after school detention from the fitness teacher, I'd miss out on time to do work before training.
I walked towards the toilets near the girls changing rooms. I never got changed in the changing rooms with the others, because last time I did, everyone made different rumours about the bruises I had obtained from training and matches. So I just stopped changing there.
Once I got into the toilets, I took out the clothes that I had been given. They were very different to the kind of clothes I was used to wearing for P.E. I was used to wearing an oversized t-shirt and longer, basketball like shorts. Mainly because I didn't want much attention and it was comfy since I never knew what kind of sports we'd be doing each day.
There was a loose tank top, short shorts, trainers and socks. I wouldn't be that bothered by the outfit, but the tank top was loose, very loose. Teagan normally wore some sort of vest underneath, but I didn't have that. Nor was I wearing a sports bra. Like I have mentioned before, I am very tired.
As I put on the kit, I walked out of the toilet stool and slightly laughed at myself and how I looked. The shorts were a little tight, but I could deal with them. But the loose tank top was definitely going to be a problem. Although, I was wearing a nice black bra so it wasn't the end of the world.
I quickly threw my stuff into the back and ran over to the changing rooms and put my bags down in there. I looked in the mirror one last time, adjusting my outfit so that I wouldn't look so bad, well not bad, just not me. I took a deep breath before entering the gymnasium after everyone else.
I held my head down as I walked in, not wanting to see people look at me and stood at the back behind some of the others.
"I'm pretty sure that's not what you normally wear" I heard V say from beside me. Honestly, I'd forgotten they were in this class, and now things felt way worse. I'd been too occupied by how I looked and trying to sort it out, to remember that they were going be see me.
"And if you remember what happened at my locker, then you would know why" I whispered back to him, refusing to look in his direction. V was nice, he wasn't rude like Jimin was, but he was unbelievably cheeky and could be pretty annoying.
"Oh yeah, when you slammed it close, even when it hadn't done anything to you" he recalled and laughed, he was very attractive like the others too. Not that you'd ever hear me say that out loud, I'd rather get eaten by a bear.
"It did do something to me, it ate my P.E kit, so now I'm stuck in this" I joked back and looked at him, he started laughing and continued to look forward.
"I quite like you in that" he replied and winked at me jokingly, atleast with him I knew he was joking more than flirting, well at least I think he was.
"Of course you do, or else you wouldn't be stood with me back here instead of your friends near the front" I raised my eyebrows at him.
"That's true, although you normally hide in the shadows and suddenly your not. You seem to be everywhere today" he replied, in fairness, I had been everywhere. First I'd bumped into Jin, then the whole chemistry situation with Jimin, then the lockers, then lunch and now this. I think that is more time with them then I'd had in about 6 years.
"Don't worry, I'll make sure I'm absorbed back into the shadows again" I replied and smiled at him a little before looking forward and finally trying to pay attention to the teacher.
"I just thought you should know, that guy over there is staring at your bra" V leaned down and whispered to me, nodding in the direction of the person. I looked over to the person and glared at him, he instantly looked away.
"Right, Jimin, Jin you are team captains, choose your team members" I heard the teacher call out and go sit on the other side of the gymnasium.
"What's happening?" I asked as we shuffled and separated so that Jin and Jimin could see everyone clearly. I couldn't help but feel somewhat exposed.
"You distracted me, so I don't know" he replied with a smirk on his face. I swear, the cheek of him was unbelievable.
"I--" just as I was going to give V a piece of my mind, I was rudely interupted, for the second time today.
I watched as everyone looked at me, I looked back but had absolutely no idea what was happening. I saw Jin signalling to move over to him, I scrunched my eyebrows together in confusion, but followed his signals and moved over to him. Jimin was watching me the whole time.
"Why am I here?" I whispered to Jin as I stood behind him, but also to the side of him.
"Because I chose you" he replied back.
"And what was I chosen for?" I asked, still quite oblivious to what was happening around me, I pulled my arms up to my chest in an attempt to hide myself.
"My team for dodgeball" he stated, I made a 'ah' sound as he spoke. Things had started to make more sense now.
"Why did you choose me first?" I asked, confused at what his tactics were. Honestly, I'd been out of the shadows for a few hours and I already wanted to run back into them and be absorbed by the darkness.
"So that Jimin didn't choose you" He replied before choosing another person, I looked over to Jimins side and noticed he had V on his team. I don't think it helped that wearing a tank top showed my muscles on my arms, because they were also normally hidden.
Once both teams had picked all their teammates, we moved into our positions ready to play. I moved near the back where I knew I'd be best suited, and where I could hide. Although, I did like playing dodgeball, even though it was seen as a fairly violent game. But hey, this was a sport for hitting people, preferably in the face. And what do I do for a living? I punch people in the face until they are unconscious or can't continue. Wow, I really do seem like a joyful and fun person.
"You know, you get to hit Jimin now if you want" he laughed as people grabbed balls and got ready for the game to start.
"Surely you shouldn't say that to me since he's your friend" I commented to him, waiting for the whistle to blow.
"True, but he shouldn't have been so rude to you like that" Jin finally said before the whistle finally blew, meaning everyone went into a frenzy of running around avoiding the balls.
There was only about 15 people in this class, so people were dropping fast, leaving our team with three people and Jimins with two. Him and V, against me, Jin and the guy that was looking at my bra.
I noticed Jimin eyeing me up like a target (not in that way), I tried moving around, but V had his eyes directed at me too. I didn't exactly enjoy being targeted in this way, or in anyway. I watched as Jimin forcefully threw the ball in my direction, everything turned into slow motion. I could barely get out of the way before I felt the impact of the ball against me.
"Fuck me that hurt" I screamed in pain as I fell to the floor, holding onto my chest where the ball had my contact with me.
"You know, I'd normally like to be taken to dinner before that..." Jin started to joke, picking up one of the balls and throwing it straight at V. I heard the sound of the ball make contact with him, probably in the stomach.
I continued to breathe deeply as I tried to control the pain, shooting up my chest from where the ball made contact with me. I stood up slowly and cracked my neck side to side. Everyone watched, I should have moved off by now, since I was out. But no, I was going to get my revenge.
"Give me the ball" I said to Jin, not taking my eyes off of Jimin, who seemingly found this all very amusing.
Jin automatically passed the ball in my direction, and just watched. I squinted my eyes as I aimed for Jimin. I had a lot more upper body strength than people knew, mainly because all I did was use my upper body. I watched as the ball speedily made contact with Jimins face.
I wish I could say I felt happy, but I didn't. I felt guilty, unbelievably guilty. That wasn't a light throw, not at all and that looked seriously painful. I could see the blood start to fall from his nose. I hoped that I hadn't broken his nose, it wouldn't be the first time I'd broken someone's nose. But normally I didn't feel so guilty compared to how I felt now.
"Jimin!" I shouted and ran up to him, and looked over him to make sure he was alright. He just looked like he was in pain, expectedly. I straight away started doing first aid on him, whilst the teacher went to find a proper first first aid kit.
"Okay sit up carefully, but do not stand up, I don't know how bad you are" I said and helped him up slowly. I moved his head slightly side to side as I checked him over slightly. I could just sense his eyes staring at me, making me feel fairly uncomfortable.
"Keep your head straight, don't tilt it back or else you might choke on your own blood and don't tilt forward or you'll reduce the chances of the bleed clotting and stopping." I said and moved his head in the position I wanted it to be in, one that kept him safe enough until someone with better knowledge helped him. Honestly, he seemed fine, just a bad nose bleed.
I looked up at the clock in one side of the room and saw that there was only a few minutes before I need to leave to get to class before the bell. I know it sounded pathetic, but I didn't want to risk getting stuck in the position of that. Not again.
"I need to go, stay still until someone else comes. I'm sorry" I said quickly and got up, running towards the door, ready to leave.
