I got home earlier than usual. I saw a limo parked in front of our apartment building which wasn't a usual thing to see. I just ignored it and climbed to my apartment. I turned the key and entered. I was greeted my a very excited Lena.

"El grand pa is here! " she exclaimed and pulled me towards the living room.

"Grand pa?" I had no idea what she was talking about. I just followed her and came face to face with an old man in a black suit.

"Hello Maia." he said to me. Maia was my middle name and only my mum used to call me that since that her mother's name. Elsa was my father's mother's name. so basically I was named after two old women I never met.

"Hello" I said politely.

"You look just like your mother. I am Cedric Chamberlain by the way. Your grand father." he said with a smiled. I actually believed he was my grand  father because I have a picture of him and my mum. I found it in my mothers things after she died.

"Did you just arrived?" I asked.

"A few hours ago. Your friend here told me you were at work." he pointed to Ian who was leaning against the door.

"Look what he bought me." Lena said and showed me her giant  doll house. She looked really excited. Liam was reading the manual to his hexacopter. I bet he was going to take it apart soon and see if he can put it back together. He does that every new toy he gets.

"Thanks for getting these for the kids." I said to the old man sitting on my couch.

"My pleasure. You must probably be wondering what I am doing here. Considering what happened with your mother."

"What happened with my mother? She never talked about why we couldn't meet you."

"We had a fight and I over reacted. I tried to make amends years later but I couldn't find her. I found her a year ago but it was too late but then I heard she had you kids and decided to find you. Being your only living relative I want to take care of you kids if you would let me." I actually didn't know what to say.

"Would you let us think about it first? I know you are our grand father and all but you are still a stranger to us."

"Of course." he said and got up. He took a card from his suit and handed it to me. "Call me when you decide. I have some business meeting in town for a week. I hope to hear from you soon."

"Yeah ok. Thanks." I said to him.

"Lena! Liam! Come say goodbye." I called out to them. They had taken their toys to their room. They rushed over.

"Will you come back grand pa?" Lena asked.

"Yes. We are family now." he smiled at her. Liam said his good byes and we saw him out.

"So will you be leaving?" Ian asked when I got back inside.

"I don't know. I mean he really is family and I want to get to know him but I am not very sure if I want to leave this place."

"I thinks this is a great opportunity for you. You finally have a chance of going back to school and being a doctor like you always wanted. He seemed to really care about the twins too." he pointed out.

"I know but I have to ask the twins if they want to. This affects them too."

"Yeah." I picked up the remote and laid my head on his laps. I knew if I left that I was going to miss him like crazy.

A  week later Cedric came for us. Zack was there to help us pack and it turns out he knew Cedric. Something about his father being an investor at my grand dad's company. Another weird thing I found out when I went to resign from my job with the Belkins is that Mr. Belkins actually dated my mother in high school which was why he gave me a job and it finally became clear why his wife hates me. I don't really know why they broke up but he seemed not fond of my grand father. I gave Ian a hug and promised to call him when we arrived. It was a two hour drive. Cedric lived in a huge mansion. I couldn't believe this was where my mum grew up. It had a green house too.

"Your mother loved growing flowers so I had the green house built for her as a birthday gift." he said to me. We got down and he told the butler to show us our room because he had to go back to the office.

"Wow this place is so huge." Liam exclaimed while he looked around.

"This way to your rooms place." The butler said to us and led us up a flight stairs. Lena's room was painted pink .Her bed had a Barbie covers with stuffed animals and she had a small table and a chair with a laptop. The corner had tiny couches and a glass table and other toys. She was so happy.

"Now I don't have to share a bathroom with you dummy." she said to her brother.

"Great. you always took a long time in there." he retorted.

Liam's room was blue. It had a flat screen and some games with their controller. The was a small room there with Liam's lab written on his door. It had some gadgets I didn't even know what is was but he seemed to know what they were

"Finally a place to invent stuffs." he exclaimed.

"You mean destroy." Lena said. They were still bickering  when a woman entered. She looked old probably in her 50's.

"Hello. I am Martha. I was you mother's nanny. Now I just work here." she introduced.

"You must be so old." Lena said.

"Lena!" I warned.

"Sorry." I apologized. She just laughed.

"Don't worry. Evans you can go I will take care of them." she dismissed the butler who just bowed and left.

"Ready to see your room.?" she asked me.

"Yes."  My room was right next to Liam's.

"This was your mother's room." She opened the room. It was amazing. It was painted purple and it had small stairs that led to a balcony. It was amazing.

"Come to the kitchen for some food when you settle down ok?" Martha said to us and left.

"Why did mum leave this place?" Liam asked.

"I don't  know she never said anything."  I was curious about that too. I wanted to understand my mum more and the only person who can help was Martha.  I called Ian to let him know we were alright and gave him our new address. I called Zack too an he said he would come see us during the weekend. As I look around I hoped that this would be our last change and I really hoped we made the right decision coming here.
